Hi Folks

I am going to the world late Sept / early October for a Solo Birthday trip. I will be there for 8 nights, and have the (free) dining plan - so 8 TS credits.

I think I would like my birthday dinner at Le Cellier, but apart from that am not really sure where I should eat. :confused3 Please give me some suggestions - especially if you have eaten there solo and had a good experience.

To keep in mind - I do not eat seafood of any kind. I do love steak and chicken, and have an extra stomach for dessert!

Thanks!

I'm no expert on solo dining, but if you're coming all that way to visit, my first suggestion would be trying some character meals.

If you love beef, I would highly recommend Yachtsman Steak House (YC) or Citrico's (GF). I've had excellent meals at both and usually visit Citrico's annually for their Filet Jardiniere. They're both pricey but IMHO totally worth it for a b-day treat. princess:

The Coral Reef is one of my favorites for a solo meal, as there is so much to see while dining. ;) I am usually seated right next to the aquarium.

Yachtsman, as PP mentioned, is wonderful.

Jiko and Brown Derby are also good.

I would totally do Bistro de Paris or Coral Reef solo. . .waaaaayyyyy too great for a solo experience. . .awesome. . .

It sounds like we'll be there at almost the exact same time--and I'm already planning my meals as well. I also don't care for seafood so much and prefer steak and chicken.

I love eating at the different countries at Epcot. I've got Biergarten on my list. I really enjoyed Le Cellier and will probably be eating there at some point. I was initially planning to eat almost all my TS at Epcot. However, since I'm going during F&W though, I may branch out to other TS places and snack around the world instead.

One of the places that I really want to try is Boma at AKL. I've also been hearing great things about the afternoon tea at the GF. I'm going to have to start training now for all the food I plan to eat in Sept. :woohoo:

I agree, I think Chef de France would be a terrific experience as a solo diner!

Really the only places I would avoid would be Teppen Edo and Sci Fi Dinner Theater. I'm a bit on the shyer side so the set up for seating for me would be unpleasant.

I agree-Chefs de France is great for a solo diner. Ask for a window table (they're very nice about that if they know you're solo) and there'll be lots to see. I've gone solo at least a dozen times, and it took me about 4-5 times before I was comfortable with solo TS dining. Yes, character meals are a great idea. You can sit back and watch the characters interacting with the children. It's so much fun! And the characters won't make a fuss over you if you don't want-they're very tuned in to the amount of interaction you want. And if you think people will notice you by yourself, sorry, they won't notice you. They'll be too busy looking for Mickey or whoever the Characters there are. Sci-Fi is pretty good-everyone's watching the screen, so it's just like eating in front of the TV at home. And I've never felt wierd about the seating. Once I even met a fellow DISer who'd been sitting in front of me the whole time! I avoid places where you're seated with others ever since I ate at Teppen Ado once. The teenaged girl sitting next to me made it pretty obvious that she felt she'd been sentenced to H**** being seated next to a strangeer, a middle-aged woman. My attempts to ask her about her trip were met with mono-syllabic grunts. And unfortunately the resturant was too loud for me to find someone 2 or 3 seats away to talk with, so I was stuck next to her (I'm sure the feeling was mutual). If worse comes to worse, call me-I'll be solo at WDW in October too, but more towards the middle of the month.
