The family will be headed to the world in June. I am considering an ap and dd will just have a 6 day hopper. DH will only need a 3 day hopper due to a conference. So a package is out of the question. What is the best option for us. If I get an AP then book a room on ap discount how do we add tickets to the reservation. And do we still get magic bands ahead of time?

You can do a package. Get the package with 3 day park hoppers, then when you get there, upgrade your ticket to an AP and your DD's to a 6 day park hopper. You get Magic Bands when you stay onsite; it doesn't matter if your reservation is room-only or a package. As far as I know, the only way you wouldn't get them ahead of time is if you book last minute, or if you're traveling from outside the U.S.

I don't know what advantage having the magic Bands ahead of time gives you anyway. If your question is, will you be able to pre-book FP+ then the answer is 'yes', as long as you are staying on-site, whether the Magic bands are in your possession or not.

I agree with the previous poster, book a package with 3-day MYW and upgrade yours and your DD's.

Is the conference at Disney? They should have room discounts available to attendees if it is. The rates are much better than the AP rates (we're paying less than half-price at the Yacht Club). They also offer discounted tickets, including after-2PM and after-4PM passes. If you're buying the AP just to get a room discount, you might want to rethink the overall cost.

You can link your tickets and room reservation in MDE. You don't need to have a package in order to do it. And yes, your MBs are shipped to you ahead of time if you customize them in MDE. Mine came about 1 month prior to our check-in date.

My purpose for an AP is because I will be going back again this year. The AP discount is just a bonus. As for the conference, it's not at Disney just in Orlando. I am not aware of any discounts associated with it.

UK visitors can do that too though - they just aren't shipped to us (we collect at the resort) but we can choose colours and personalise names.

I can understand the DME thing might be an advantage. I will be using DME for the first time next week so I guess I will see for myself then if those who have the MBs have an advantage over those of us who don't.
