We are going to be a month early with our baby boy but we would still like to celebrate his 1st birthdays at WDW.
If anyone can share some ideas of what is a good place for birthday of not even 1 year old?

Some info about us:

We do not eat much, so buffets are lost on us.
Character meet is not necessary, since he is so small, and we are not sure yet how he will react to the characters. It does not hurt to try but it is not essential.
We are traveling from Europe and sadly could not find a hotel at the time of his birthday :( I guess we can still call it a birthday celebration!
We are staying on property.

Our favourite restaurants from last year's trip are:
Kona Cafe, we liked the food every time.
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, we always have the best service there.
Skipper Canteen, don't know why, we just liked it.

BOG was surprisingly just OK for lunch, unlike all other visits we had there before. Maybe just bad day?
Yak and Yeti was quite interesting, mainly because of the variety.

I like to try new things, I stay away from burgers and pizza when I am at WDW.
My partner is a fan of good quality burgers, pizza and everything classic, thai-chinese cuisine but he is open to suggestions of something new, as long as it does not have a bone in it :D

We do not know what baby likes for now, but I guess he will have cake :P

Suggestions of celebrations other than restaurants, are also welcomed.

Barbershop is already planned <3

Most sit down dining will have a cupcake if a birthday is noted on the reservation, so as you said you don't know what your son will eat (likely not a lot) pick somewhere that makes you and hubby happy. Most character dining is going to be some kind of all you care to eat buffet or table service.

I would add the birthday to the resort reservation, get a birthday button. If he hasn't had a first haircut, you could check into that at Harmony Barbershop on Main Street. I believe it comes with the cut, ears and certificate.

Have fun and enjoy your little one.

Via Napoli for pizza. It is SO good. You can create your own and they hand toss them and put them in one of their 3 big stone ovens that have faces and are named after three active volcanoes in Italy. I believe when we went there last our waiter mentioned they even get their mozzarella cheese shipped in from Italy.

Yak & Yeti sit down dinner was delicious as well and we're going back next month to introduce our family to it. The portions are pretty big so you could definitely share. I loved their house fried rice and the honey chicken. Plus they make a good cocktail :drinking1

As mentioned above if you mention the birthday, especially being a 1st birthday, in the reservation I am sure the waiter/waitress will bring out a cupcake or dessert of some kind.

Enjoy the "big 1!" celebration with your family!

Get a Birthday button! My son wore one last January for his 4th Birthday, he got a cupcake at every sit down restaurant, with a candle, Daisy even pretended to sing to him, and EVERY CM we saw acknowledged his Birthday, even ones we were just walking by, it was very awesome for him.

Tusker House is our Disney birthday tradition meal with our son. We have celebrated his first, second and (just this past weekend) third birthdays there.

The food is good and the characters are great. He has also gotten a cupcake and a birthday card that the characters sign each time.

My favorite was actually his first birthday there... He had just started eating table food and discovered his love for Mickey waffles. He ate about 5 of them...

I realize you said buffets aren't your favorite, but they are the easiest at that age. I have an 11 month old and we just returned from vacation. It's awesome if have the variety at the buffet, as well as having the food ready. Our son is pretty great eating out, but the extra time offered at buffet is priceless. We can all start eating immediately, which gives us time to actual enjoy our meal before he reaches the end of his hunger and interest, which is much more difficult at regular restaurants. Just something to consider.

I would pick wherever you want to go eat. He's too small to have an opinion. My parents took me to the fancy restaurant in France for my 2nd. I have no memory of it but I think they enjoyed their meal.

I would recommend Sanaa at AKL for lunch! The food is very good and, during the daytime, you can typically see the animals from the restaurant. Spice Road Table in EP is also very good. The atmosphere is lovely, food is great and the staff is so friendly.

We took our DS to O'hana for his 1st birthday dinner and, while we had fun and got a cute picture, he doesn't remember a darn thing! I would just pick a restaurant that appeals to you!
