Best place to blow remaining dining credits?

We are doing 8 days/8nights and getting QS dining.

We are arriving really late our first night (probably around 11 or 12 at night). And we will probably do 2 or 3 TS that we pay OP. My 3 year old (will be 4 when we go) isnt a huge eater and often when we go out to dinner we share meals. So I am thinking at the end of the week we could possibly have QS meals and maybe snacks left over.

Or last day we will probably hit one park for a few hours (probably our fav. from the week) and then possibly hit DTD before we make the drive home.

Would love to get some to-go meals for the car ride home and snacks.

I have read something about Goofys treats (or something like that) in DTD and was thinking Earl of sandwich for some meals (although costwise not a good use of credits but better then losing them).

We will stay at either Pop or an All Star (havent book yet).

So any suggestions on things we can take to go to eat much later on a car ride?

The goofy store is really great!! I would definitely recommend Earl of Sandwich. I would have recommended it anyway, but especially for a car ride. I've never had a better sandwich, and they have a really good selection. Their desserts are really good too :thumbsup2

Thanks sue

I was thinking after we are done at the park hitting DTD probably use a CS at WGP so we are full before we get on the road but then get some sandwiches at Earl and some treats.

If we have a lot of snacks credits probably use some at the park (if MK maybe the Bakery, if Epcot in the worlds at some of the bakery places or DHS-staring rolls...hmmmm I see a bakery theme can you tell I am excited about the desserts lol).

We had 8 qs credits left last Sept. We were at POP and just before we got on DME I got a bunch of snacks. They traded 3 snacks for each qs credit. For 2 qs credits there you can get a large pizza 2 desserts and 2 drinks. Lots of ways to spend those credits.

Definitely go to Starring Rolls for lunch during your visit. They have delicious sandwiches that are big enough to share and your CS credit allows sandwich, chips, beverage (fountain or bottle), and anything from the bakery case. We have never been disappointed! (Due watch the time though as they close pretty early in the day.)

yup was already planning staring rolls for our DHS days...I have read on here about all the great desserts. Wish the kids meals were better (only choice is PB&J) but since everyone says they are so big we will probably just share with DS.

Hmmmm cold pizza in the car ride might go well...donb't really want to use CS for snacks cause I would really like to be able to have a meal for the car ride (that is if we have meals left over).

To me the biggest issue with getting sandwiches to go is to keep them safe and fresh. The problem isn't usually the sandwich, it's the condiments. Nothing will make you sicker than spoiled mayo, and even if you can keep it at the right temperature, it makes the bread soggy.

While Starring Rolls at DHS and Norway in Epcot both have great sandwiches, they are pre-made with dressings. But if you go across to the Boulangerie Patisserie in France at Epcot you can get ham and turkey sandwiches on nice, long, crusty french bread that are plain - just the meat, cheese, and bread. The condiments are all in little packets at the end of the checkout line. I would think those would store in a cooler the best. And since you get your choice of desserts you could also pick ones that would wrap up and travel well in a cooler. Take bottled water for your drink and you're really getting the full bang for your buck (OK, full bang for your unused CS credit).

We used our leftovers on pizzas from the resort. We were also driving and it seems as though they kept well for that long car ride home. Chocolate milks for drinks too...

And if you end up with a few credits you just can't use, offer to buy lunch for the person next to you in line.:goodvibes

I LOVE EARL OF SANDWICH. I would honestly suggest this to anyone. If you are going to be in DTD you might as well use your QS here. It has some of the best options and a variety as well. I highly recommend it. If you are worried about things spoiling, try a cooler. That could help keep sandwiches cool and ready to eat!
Hope that helps!:thumbsup2

Quin's suggestion about Boulangerie Patisserie in France at Epcot sounds great! Wish I had thought of that last August.
I had several QS credits left. The nice people at Pop made some sandwiches without condiment on them for me and wrapped them for the flight, with condiments in seperate little containers. (I had checked with the main Pop "chef" a couple days earlier if this was possible.) The "chef" had written all down and it was supposed to be bagged and ready to pick up and go, but of course it wasn't, and it was his day off. :rotfl2:
But the "chef" of THAT day got it done anyway, though it took a good 30-45 minutes. (Good thing I went early to pickup!) Then i got Rice Krispies Mickeys for my desserts. I didn't try to get the drinks, beause I knew I would have to throw them away before security at the airport.
Just a thought if you do stay at Pop. In the past, the counter service used to have premade sandwiches in the grab and go area, but didn't when I was at Pop last August.:confused3

Thanks everyone. We will be driving and bringing a cooler and possibly the cooler that plugs into the cig lighter so things wont get soggy from ice.

I am still at a toss up on the dining plan. We wanted to do Quickservice dining but also 2 or 3 sitdowns that we would pay out of pocket but just thinking that might be way too much food and we might be better to go OP on everything...well unless they do free dining :)

Wow! I just can't imagine having to blow a credit:scared1: When we get the dining plan we have to pay OOP for it being DVC so its a long drawn out and measured process of planning, reserving, pricing etc...not just getting our money out of it, but making money off of it so to speak ;) I've heard people talk about the dining plan in terms of convenience before - I'm way to cheap I guess :thumbsup2 Maybe if it was free, but extra credits would be wasted money for us - not gonna happen!

there was one time we had an experience sort of like that Melissa. we had stayed the first week somewhere with dining plan credits. Our friends left early, and we had a stomach bug too that went around. Everybody was sick at some point that week. The next week we checked in to wilderness lodge villas without the dining plan. That first night at the lodge was the last night we could use our credits from the previous stay (I can't remember where we stayed the first week, but I remember the second week was wilderness lodge). I went down to the mercantile and had 20-something snack credits and got a stroller full of mickey ice cream bars and other snacks for the freezer in the villas. But there were two table service credits left. This was night, we'd already had dinner, and I couldn't stand the thought of them running out without being used. I went over to Artist Point to the host stand and ordered a steak dinner to go. And I just wasn't hungry. I remember he asked me how I wanted it cooked, and is said something like "rare, because I'm going to heat it back up tomorrow." The poor guy looked absolutely horrified. But Artist Point set me up. They always come through.

So there's my advice, get a steak to go and grill it the next day.

We had the 2 bedroom at Jambo - before Kidani opened.

Well I don't really plain on "blowing" credits per say but I am doing the QS and we are doing some TS OP so I am thinking we might end up with some extras in the end. And if we do I would like to use them wisely. Especially since we have a 10 hour drive home, so we will need to eat. I would rather have it already packed.

Just trying to be prepared so the last day I'm not going crazy if I have remaining meals.
