I am looking for a great park bag that my teenage son or husband would be willing to carry so that we can all take turns. I am thinking a backpack, but I was hoping for some suggestions on a nice lightweight one. I tried searching, but I keep finding purses. Thanks!

My dad really likes to use drawstring bags. They can fold up when not in use so it doesn't take up much room in our luggage. And at our local sports store we found one that was backpack-like (had little mesh pockets on the sides to fit a water bottle). This feature is very handy when it's hot outside so everyone has easy access to the water.

We used to carry backpacks but as our kids have gotten older we switched to draw string backpack packs like this one, this way one of the boys can carry it or DH. I have a new Disney Vera that I plan to carry when we go next month.

I also vote for a sling bag. Water proof if possible. I have a small star wars bag that any of my DSs or DH will carry - it's not water proof, but a gallon sized, freezer, Ziploc bag fits perfectly in it. I use the bag as a liner for the sling bag and it works great.

I just bought a decent sized backpack from Billabong or Quicksilver. I took my bf and he pointed out the ones he wouldn't carrying.

My DH has carried the Rick Steves Daypack on every trip - Disney or non Disney since 2008. It is a soft lightweight backpack that folds up nicely in your suitcase and doesn't make your back incredibly sweaty. Ew, I know but seriously it is something to think about.
Although last year at DLR and on Spring Break this year we did join the no bag movement and only carried what we could in his cargo shorts on some days.

We've used drawstring sack form time to time for water park stuff, but they are too uncomfortable to us for long-term use, I don't like how they balance and I don't like the way the strings start to cut in over time (and I'm not that out of shape). On the flip-side, those traditional, wide, padded straps found on the typical backpack just get too hot during a summer trip to a park, I say that as someone who is usually completely unfazed by the heat and humidity in Florida in August.

Unfortunately, Vera Bradley no longer makes their old small backpack. My wife first got one in place of a diaper bag years ago, we used one or another for parks for years. The straps are thin and lightweight enough to breath, thick enough for comfort, and the bag balances well. Now, the impossible part is finding a unisex pattern, but it gives you a size idea. Honestly, I wouldn't want anything bigger than this...I prefer no bag at all.

From a guys point of view. I dont like carrying a bag, and if my wife tried to give me a string bag or any other huge backpack it wouldn't go over very well. On that note.

I use a Maxpedition Naotak Gearslinger. Its a medium sized back, so fits everything I need without being too large or heavy. It also fits a 50oz camelback that I use to stay hydrated.

Oh and its also over the shoulder, so it makes it super easy to rotate around your body to allow for a quick seat or to access what is inside without taking it off. Makes it super easy.

Join the growing movement: No Bag at Disney! Our motto is "take only want can fit in your pockets."

We have meetings the second Thursday of the month, on even months.

I agree--in the cooler months. When it's summer and so hot/rainy, we're taking bottled water and ponchos. (Yes, you can get water in the parks and yes, you can just get wet, but the boss has spoken on these issues and I'm just following orders. ;) ) So I just take my regular ol' backpack and our stuff goes in there.

I always carry a drawstring backpack. We take extras for days when we have too much stuff for some reason, and we split the load so that no one is carrying more than a few pounds on their backs in the heat. My wife is the only one exempt from carrying a backpack (shoulder/neck issues).

Well, what are you bringing? That's a decent place to start.

We usually have waters, some food, and sunscreen. So we go with the Igloo MaxCold backpack cooler. If we have other needs we expand from there.

Definitely depends on what you are bringing with you. Water bottles, any snacks, ponchos, a camera? A backpack has always worked well for us and I've always voted for that over my DW's Coach or Vera Bradley bags.

I have a Swiss Gear over the shoulder bag and a back pack. If you're just wanting to take a bottle of water, sunscreen, and some cash, the over the shoulder bags work great. I think the key is getting a bag that doesn't look like a purse; I would also stay clear of any fanny packs. And get one that is a unisex color like black. http://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Gear-Sh...71278&sr=8-2&keywords=swiss+gear+shoulder+bag

My DH carries a small runners backpack that fits some water bottle his sunglass case and wallet and a few other odds and ends. I usually care a small over the shoulder bag so between us we have all that we need. Don't like to carry more than we have to.

I got a North Face Borealis in red. It has 3 compartments and 2 mesh pockets for water bottles. I also like the padded straps (those drawstring bags can really dig in after awhile). Its an average size so it wouldn't be too much to handle if you end up wearing for a bit. The bright color is nice cause it stands out from a crowd.
