We will be there for New Years and know about the expensive party that will make Pleasure Island closed for us and the normally free Boardwalk dance club another paid entry. Has anyone been on new years? What are the events? Where is the best park or place to be? Which park has the best fireworks and are any events staggered so that you can see more than one display? Thanks.

Fred

The fireworks events aren't really staggered, since midnight is the "go-to" time. There is an earlier performance of IllumiNations so that folks with little kids can see fireworks before midnight, and MK may also do an early fireworks show, but both parks pull out all the stops at midnight.

And, even if there WERE staggered events so that you could see them all, the crowds in the parks, on the roads, and in the parking lots and transportation would make that impossible. The best thing to do on NYE is choose the park you want to be in at midnight and stay there!

Which Fireworks display do you think would appeal to teens and adults? I know the difference between Illuminations and Wishes, so Illuminations with extra fireworks would seem to offer more than Wishes with extra fireworks, but they are different experiences. Also, isn't there fireworks on Pleasure Island too? Though I'm guessing they might not have as elaborate display as in the parks. Also, you didn't mention MGM, does that mean the midnight offerings are just the 3 venues?

I wonder if there is a high viewpoint that would give access to a decent viewing more than one display? For example watching MGM in one direction and Pleasure Island in the other or Epcot and MGM. You would have to be high up in a hotel, I would think.

Wehave been to wdw for the past 2 NYE's. 2002-3 we spent am at MGM then around4:30 hit Epcot(make PS for NYE asap because most folks do right at 90 days ). We ate at Teppanyaki and it poured that night so most outdoor venues were a wash. 2003-4 we spent the whole time at MGM(ps at Brown Derby. Saw last Fantasmic and then left MGM to go back to Swan because our room had great view of TOT and Fantasy in the sky fireworks(at MGM)(they are wondrful). We then had a chance to see the fireworks from Epcot also from our room and especially good from the docks at swan/dolphin. We did see some of PI from our room at swan also. MK has closed to all guests both years by 10am(that includes resort guest-once they hit max capacity, they will not let you in even if you have a ps). As the previous post said, go there early and plan to stay. Epcot and MGM were fine for early afternoon park hop.

So you're saying if we want to go to MK, go at 9am and stay till midnight...Right?
