Disneynan: what a great story!

Last trip we were in that little theatre in the townhall, back in the back where they play the same 2-3 old cartoons over and over. We were like on day 10 of 14 and were worn out. No one was back there so we took a minute to rest. My Mom promptly fell asleep and started snoring (at that point I thought we had broken her). Goofy snuck up and sat next to her then snuggled up against her. He sat that way for a minute or two then he started snoring too. That woke my Mom up and she was super embarrassed and the photopass guy caught it lol

All the characters interacted with DD when she was 2.5. It really was a great trip, they are so good at hamming it up with the little ones.

I've had some decent ones, but my favorite recently happened at the Town Square Theatre where the Princesses are meeting. I went in and when I got to Belle, she asked where I was from. Now, I live in Orlando until August, but I'm from Boston, so I briefly explained that I'm from Boston, and she asked me if it was true that all the men wear Red Socks there (Get it? Red Socks, Red Sox?! I thought it was funny!). I started giggling, and we talked about red socks for a few minutes. She promised to get the Beast a pair of red socks before they came to visit Boston.

My favorite character interaction happened on my first trip to Disney World when I was 14.

My family was at evening EMH at Magic Kingdom towards the end of our trip. My aunt and I were walking a little ways ahead of the rest of our group towards Cinderella's Castle. When we were almost to the castle we suddenly felt something furry grab our arms and begin skipping towards the castle. My aunt and I both turned to see what was going on. We were both pleased and shocked when we realized that we were skipping with Pluto! Pluto skipped with us the rest of the way to the castle. It was one of my favorite memories from that Disney World trip.

My favorite character interaction happened on my first trip to Disney World when I was 14.

I'm not sure how 'in character' it is. But last night at Garden Grill Chip did a moonwalk and flash-dance pose for us at our table. It was very VERY entertaining!

When leaving Chip was strutting around like Elvis dancing over to the next tables. Oh and Dale was a total flirt!

Chip & Dale are my favorites so we were happy! They never disappoint.

One time,many years ago, we were sitting up front waiting for a show at a small theater beside Pinochio's restaurant. For whatever reason, the show was cancled, but they sent out characters for a M&Greet. The characters were at the back, and were swarmed by all the children. We were trying to get to them, but DD is in a wheelchair and it was very difficult to manuver through the people. Dale came back to us, and motioned for us to follow him. We were trying , but the crowd was in the way. He kept waving us to follow him, but it was quite a struggle. Finally he came back to us, motioned for me to move so he could push the WC, and he pushed Dd in her WC. The children would come up to him, he was nice to them, patting them on the head and so on, but he kept the WC going till DD had met all of his friends. We met Chip, Goofy, Pluto, and Micky and Minnie as well. It's a very special memory for me.

Amazed by these stories. Wish I could have this job, sounds so much fun!

Hmm, so many, which to post about??

Ok, we were at DL, and ran into Peter Pan and Wendy right by a shop. DD (then 12) is a BIG Tink fan and had 10 or 12 Tink pens on a lanyard. Wendy was peering at them, stuck her nose up in the air and asked why DD had "HER" on her necklace. DD said she liked her, but hadn't found a good one of Wendy yet...so Wendy marched her into the shop and found a pin with her on it (her and PP, if I remember) and handed it to her. Wendy started tapping her foot, and pointed at the cash register. We ended up not paying for it, the CM at the register was laughing too hard and told us it was on Wendy's tab!

We met Mulan in China while doing a Kim Possible Mission. My DS6 edged up to her and whispered "We're on a secret mission. Lord Monkey Fist and his monkey ninjas are hiding in that hotel over there." Without missing a beat, Mulan put her hands on her hips and said, "Again?! The last time he stayed there, it took a week to get the monkey smell out!."

Definitely my best "in-character" experience was with Tiana and Naveen. Tiana asked where I was from and I said Canada. She went, "Oh, Canada!" (which is the title of our national anthem). Naveen then proceeded to sing "O, Canada", which made the experience 10x more hilarious and more exceptional. Tiana and Naveen were going on about the Olympics, were there frogs in the Great White North etc.

I made Mickey-head tie-dye t-shirts for my four kids and myself to wear on our trip. My husband refused to wear one, so I made him a shirt that said, "I Don't Do Matching Shirts" in the Mickey font. We got a LOT of attention, split evenly between the tie-dye shirts and my husband's shirt.

Snow White was absolutely wonderful with my kids, asking my 2 year old about the Marie toy she had, if she had met Marie yet, etc. My husband was taking video, and after the Photopass guy took our pictures, Snow White said, "So now, is Daddy grumpy just about the t-shirts, or is he grumpy all the time?" I said that he can be grumpy about a lot of things (not true, but it's funnier that way). She said that I should try baking him a boysenberry pie, because that's what she does to keep her men happy. I said, "Oh, and there I've been making him apple pies. I guess I'll have to try boysenberry." She said, "Apple pies are okay, but you need to use green apples, not red ones." Of course, my husband had stopped recording just as she had started that conversation, I was so disappointed.

We also had a great meeting with the Tremaines while we were wearing our shirts, and Lady Tremaine was absolutely disgusted that my 2 year old was cowering in fear behind the stroller and crying. I felt like a bad mother for laughing, but there you are.

Genie also accidentally whacked my 5 year old in the face. He was very apologetic, which was pretty funny. My son didn't mind at all.

The lady doing my son's pirate makeover asked what his dad does for work. My son told her that I work on computers. She asked what a computer was and he told her it was like a box. She directed me to a box on the floor and asked if I could fix it. No computers in pirate times I guess.

Non-Disney one was at Universal. The Grinch took my son's auto book and did this incredibly detailed signature in the form of a Christmas tree. Showed it to my son, then took it back and scribbled all over the signature. Very Grinch-like.

Akershus breakfast. Aurora asked DD5 where we were visiting from. New Jersey. Aurora - "Are there dragons there?" "No" "Well it sounds like a lovely place. We'll have to come and visit some time."

AK, Pocahontas took the time to teach DD how to greet people in her native language.

AK, Flik the ant from Bug's Life, but not him, his handler. DD was posing for pics and getting autographs when I engaged the handler in conversation. It was a particularly warm day and the handler mentioned that since we were the last ones in line he was about to take Flik back for a break. I said, "I suppose it gets pretty hot in thos costumes." Handler replies, "Well, it's not so bad when you're an ant."

I'd love to share something from DD's interactions with the princesses in the M&G, but they were so personal and up close that we couldn't hear anything that they said. It was actually adorable to see how DD gave them every last bit of her attention because they were paying attention to nothing but her - absolutely rapt.

On our honeymoon we got our pictures taken with Aladdin and Jasmine.

Aladdin asked how long our honeymoon was. We told him we were staying there for eight days. He said, "Wow, that's quite a honeymoon!"

As we were leaving, Jasmine gave him a pointed look and said, "At least it didn't take them three movies to get there!"

I can think of three really great character interactions off the top of my head - two from a long time ago and one from last summer.

1) Back in 1996, I went to WDW with my best friend as a HS graduation trip. We made it our goal to get autographs from all of the cutest guy characters (at the time this was John Smith from Pocahontas, Prince Charming, Snow Prince, and Phoebus from Hunchback). Well, the Hunchback character meet and greets were outside at Hollywood Studios, and we kept getting in the line and right as we got to the front, the characters would switch out and it wasn't Phoebus anymore, so we'd get back in the back of the line. After twice through the line, just as we were getting close to the front, and Phoebus had just come out, so we knew we were going to get to see him, it started to rain and the characters had to go inside. We were crushed, so we asked the character handler if when the rain stopped it would be Phoebus who would come back out or if it would be a different character. He said he'd check and went inside. Well, a few minutes later, out comes Phoebus, in the rain, and walks right up to us in line and says, in a rather arrogant, Phoebus sort of way, "I hear you ladies wanted to meet me," and winks at us. We about died of embarrassment, but he signed our autograph books and took pictures with us and then went right back inside (because it was still raining).

2) Same trip in 1996, also at Hollywood Studios, my friend and I were eating at the Soundstage Restaurant. The tables had these yellow paper tablecloths and crayons out so you could draw on the tablecloths. What I remember about it was that it was counter service, but there were characters there too. Well, Genie from Aladdin came over to our table and took some crayons and drew a funny picture of Jafar and wrote "Jafar smells bad" next to it and then drew squiggly lines coming off of the Jafar drawing to indicate how bad he smelled. Then Jafar came over and took the crayons and crossed out the picture of him and drew a Genie picture and wrote mean things about Genie. It was really funny, and they were so in character.

3) Last summer, we took my niece and nephew to the fairies meet and greet. I made them fairy costumes, not specific fairies, although my nephew's costume was definitely modeled off of Terence. We got through the lines and the fairies were so great with them. My nephew was 1 and a half and my niece was almost one, and the fairies just made the biggest deal over them. Tink gave my nephew the biggest kiss on the cheek. And then as we were leaving, a manager saw the babies and just fussed over how cute they were, asked if he could take their picture, and then told us to wait there. He came back and said if we wanted, we could come back later that evening when Terence would be there because Terence would be so excited to see another sparrowman come through because they'd never been visited by an out-of-town sparrowman. So we went back that evening, and the fairies were excited to see the babies again, and Terence made a big fuss over my nephew and complimented him on his acorn hat and was jealous that he had acorns on his belt too.

A couple of years ago, DD and DS were getting pictures taken with Aladdin, Jasmine and Abu at Epcot. DS was wearing one of those classic "Goofy" hats that everyone wears. Jasmine looked at him, and said, "I think Genie has that hat."

(If you remember, in the original "Aladdin" movie, when Genie is freed, and is about to embark on his vacation, he is briefly shown wearing the same classic Goofy hat.)

A couple of other tales, involving the same hat:

At Chef Mickey's, Goofy offered to sign the hat, then posed with DS, with both holding out their ears.

Also at Chef Mickey's, Donald Duck, while lining up with the kids for a photo, casually flipped the Goofy hat off DS's head.

Last April my mom and I went to Universal Studios. We met Betty Boop who is my mom's favorite character.. and that's when my mom had a blonde moment:

Betty: Hi, what's your name?
Mom: Josie. What's yours?
Betty: Why its Betty of course!

Without skipping a beat! We had a good laugh!

A couple of years ago we had dinner at Garden Grill. Chip (or was it Dale?) took one of my daughter's hands to get her to stand up near the table, then started dancing with her. It was so cute! Chip and Dale spent several minutes at our table just goofing around and dancing with both DD's.

This made me remember a funny moment. My DD3 was sitting in the stroller and Chip and Dale walked by. She yelled out "Mommy, look it's Chip and Dip!"
