Best "In-Character" Stories

I am loving this thread!

Let me see... Last time we went all of the great character interactions happened at DHS. There was one building, can't remember the name of it, that had tonnes of characters in one place. We met Mrs. Incredible, Prince John and Friar Tuck and others.

There were 3 really good ones. First we saw that the line for The Queen from Snow White was really little so we jumped in. When we got up to her, my DD (2 1/2 at time) said "Mommy look, it's the bad witch!" Well The Queen didn't appreciate that. She said to DD "Do you see the crown? Do I look like a witch? I am a QUEEN!" It was too funny. DD was a little scared after that. She's all hunched over in the picture trying to avoid being near her.

After that DD really really wanted to meet Bolt. So we got in the huge line. While waiting she needed a bathroom break so I took her and headed out to the washroom while DH waited in line. On the way back in we happened to pass by Jafar as he was heading in. I stopped and pointed him out to DD. Jafar looked right at us, stuck his nose in the air, flipped his cape and snubbed us! I laughed so hard. I couldn't believe I had been snubbed by Jafar! I thought it was so great.

Finally we got up to see Bolt and Rhino. I was carrying a teeny tiny bouncy ball that DD wanted me to hold for her. While Rhino was signing her book Bolt came over to me and sniffed at the ball. He gestured that he wanted me to throw it for him so I did. I played fetch with Bolt! It was so awesome to interact that way!

Awesome thread....thanks to everyone for sharing their stories!

When DD15 was 3, we took her to WDW for the first time. We had so many great character meetings with her that trip.

1. Chip and Dale - they were just fun, fun fun!
2. Tigger at Epcot - We were walking through the England area and Tigger just popped out of nowhere. He's my favorite and we have some great photos of us with him. It was so exciting
3. Esmerelda at Epcot - she spent so much time talking to my daughter.
4. Minnie at Epcot and MK - was so playful with DD
5. Tigger at AK - he stole my hat and insisted on having his picture taken with it on. My dd still thinks that was hilarious.
6. Finally - Goofy at the MK. It was another one of those "he popped out of nowhere" moments. DD was thrilled and had a blast chatting with him. DD holding Goofy's hand and staring up at him was our xmas card that year!

We didn't get back until dd was 12 and ds was 8. DS was convinced WDW was the most boring place on earth. Gpa insisted on doing a character breakfast and both my kids strenuously objected. Guess who had the best time at Ohahas??? It was so fun!

We don't see as many characters as the old days, but they still are a great part of the trip!!!

2 trips ago, I asked Peter Pan where his shadow was and he (or she) told me that it was with him and attached by Wendy's sewing and not soap.

On that same trip, I was posing with Captain Hook and Smee and I started going "Tick, tock" and Hook got scared and put his hook to my throat for the picture.

I usually try to interact with characters, as it makes the experience a lot more fun.

This past trip, Snow White asked if i was my wife's prince charming and I said I rode on in a horse (well, really I was the mascot at my High School and our mascot was a Mustang, so I was a horse).

We ran into Daisy and were told that her and Donald weren't married, so when we saw Donald, I told him that Daisy wants a ring and he started walking away twiddling his thumbs and told us that she shops too much and makes him broke.

We went to see Belle in France and she asked if I was my wife's Beast and said it was better than being Gaston. I told her I liked Gaston and she was mad at me. But then I said I like the Beast more and she posed for a picture with me.

I love when the characters actually interact. It makes the time fun for us and them.

During Lunch at Cinderella's castle, Beauty came to our table to visit. She was talking to my DD (2 1/2 at the time). My DS (12 at the time) was with us also. Beauty looked at DS & asked DD "and who is this handsome prince", looking confused my DD replied "that's just a stinky boy!". :rotfl2:

At CP Tigger got a little uncomfortably "friendly" with me, grabbing & tickling, when he left my DH & DS were like what was up with that?

DS went up to Gov. Radcliff & asked to take a picture with him & G.R. flatly refused :sad2:

Meeko "ate" my hat & wouldn't give it back until after the picture was taken. I had horrible hat hair in that pic.:)

At H.S. Daisy walked up to my DD (6 at the time) taking her hand and walking, what DD didn't know was that Minnie had came out behind her & when Daisy stopped, she turned she saw Minnie there too. It was a wonderful moment & we were able to get a great pic. of her little face lighting up with glee. :woohoo:

Last December me and my family went to the Pirates League to have me and my niece done up as pirates. Well my older sister and her kid went off to Dumbo while me and my mom went to Pixie Hollow. When we got there I was all decked out in my pirate gear, costume and all. It was a blast! The one fairy, I forget her name, Rosseta I think came up to me and went, "How did a dirty PIRATE get in here!?" She just about kicked me out though we got photos they asked how I got the scar on my face (It was makeup but still) and both me and mom pointed to the one CM by the entrance saying "He did it!" They asked what captain I served under and were very wild yet in character, Tink the most. I think that's the best story I got.

I just love the characters. It is what makes the trip so magical! When we were in Epcot, it had just rained. Not many people were out. We were so excited to see Alice appear! She spent so much time with my girls telling them about their "unbirthdays" and how they needed to have a tea party with the Madhatter. It was just precious and one of my favorite moments!

We were at 1900 Park Fare and my then DS3 boldly told Cinderella, "I'm Going to marry you tomorrow!" (He thought "tomorrow" was the future when he would be old enough to get married) Cinderella giggled and told him "I'll let you know if something happens beween the Prince and I". Then she helped him up on his chair, gave him a big squeeze and posed for a picture. It was memorable:goodvibes.

Oh I remembered another one, this was during MVMCP last year and my niece is scared of the guy face characters with hats. We were in line to see the Mad Hatter with all four of us girls (Me, mom, Big sister and niece) and my sister and niece went up first. Well my niece was acting shy, staying as far from the Hatter as she could, and somehow managed to knock my sister, herself, AND Hatter over. They go their pics and autographs and I went up next. He asked me, "Do you know how we ended up on the ground" to which I replied with, "It was Chess' fault." That was the start to one of my favorite character experiences that night.

When we went on our disneymoon:love: in 2002 we got the bride and groom ear hats. My DH felt a little silly about them at first, but I'm so glad we wore them!!!

Non speaking characters would come up to us clapping and hugging us!!! Then they would push our heads together to kiss!

Rafiki looked at me...looked at DH then linked arms with me and started walking away with me! I was laughing so hard...then he turned around and gestured for me to choose between him and DH!!!! :confused3 Ha!!!!

It was so fun! I can't wait to see the interactions on our upcoming trip with DD who will turn 6 while we are there! princess:

We were at the character connection once when a live squirrel came in. Pluto got down on all 4s and started chasing it around. Then Chip & Dale started chasing after Pluto "telling" him to leave the squirrel alone.:rotfl:

We saw the Snow Queen on my DD's 7th birthday trip in January. While waiting for the Snow Queen to come out I enjoyed hearing Snow White tell other guests to tell her Step Mother she wears too much makeup and that she had just gotten an apple pie recipe that she heard was to die for. So we see the Snow Queen and she see's DD is wearing a bday pin and she asks if that day was really her bday. When DD said no she asked her what else she lied about. Then she instructed all the other folks in line to sing Happy Birthday to her and then tells them they better not try out for American Idol.

On that same bday trip I had made DD a photo book to use as an autograph book using photos from prior trips. When we saw Peter Pan he got all excited when he saw the book. "Ooooo a story book. Lets go read it" and took DD aside to sit down and read the book together.

I can't remember a specific event but I can say that every trip is memorable for my DD. With her being handicapped she always gets extra special treatment. We have had Princesses see us on another day in a different location and recall meeting us. They pick up the conversation like it never ended. It always amazes me considering how many people they must meet each day.

I love this thread. On our first trip to Disney, our Dd was 6 and our Ds was 9. I bought us all "Special Guest" name pins, our son's name is Max and he was wearing his pin. We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's, and who do you think we met? Just outside Chef Mickey's, Goofy came up, and he totally reacted to my son's name (Goofy's son is "Max"). Goofy startled, gestured, without words asked my son where his ears were! (Long dog ears!) :rotfl: It was truly amazing the interaction they had without words. This is a wonderful memory.

My Dd's memorable experience did not come from a character, but from a little girl. Dd is very tall, and at the age of 8 (second visit) I could not find a princess dress to fit her height at the Disney Store, and she really wanted one. I am not a good seamstress, but I am very good at transforming items. I found an ice blue simple prom dress at Goodwill, and added white puffs to the shoulder and swags at the hips to look a lot like Cinderella. Long white gloves and a tiara (from Walmart) and she looked lovely princess: for her Breakfast with the Princesses at the Askerhaus. After breakfast, we took some photos outside, and a little girl coming up over a bridge saw Dd, stopped in her tracks; big eyed, she said, "OHhhh! It's a princess, Mommy!":cutie: - Dd shyly smiled and waved - well, that made my Dd's trip. :cheer2:

I LOVE all the Cinderella Stepsisters stories. Now I want to meet them!

Last year at MNSSHP my 2 DDs were both wearing DH's coat. Hubby is rather large and the girls could both fit in it at the same time together. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum saw this and took it away from them and was trying to both fit in it like they were.
Then over at Tink's the girls had to show the fairies a picture of our pet opossum that was on my cell phone. Fawn kept shaking the phone trying to get the opossum out of it while Iredessa kept running away saying she didn't want to play with the opossum. :lmao:

I posted this before from our January 2010 trip but it's my favorite:

DH is a Disney nut just like me but he really doesn't care to have his photo taken with characters. We were in the UK shop and saw Mary and Alice. It was the first time either of us had seen them. I begged Dh to get in the picture but he was tired and cranky and refused. I must have looked a little sad when I got up on the platform with them because they both asked what was the matter. The conversation went like this:

me: My husband won't get in the picture.
MP: Well that will never do.
Alice: Oh no, might we just go and get him?
Me: Of course.

So off they go - DH is standing by photopass guy - and each one takes his arm and leads him to the photo spot, chastising him the whole way. The look on his face is priceless! When it was over Mary said "Now that didn't hurt a bit did it?" and Alice said "You must always do what the princess wants." It totally cracked both of us up.

Me: Which one is Chip?
*Chip raises hand*
Me: Which one is Dip?
*Dale points at me*

Me: Do you like molasses?
Pooh: *stares at me and doesn't move*
Me: How about honey?
Pooh: *rubs tummy*

Me: Hey Donald, can I tell you something?
Donald: *nods*
Me: Well, Mickey Mouse is #1.
Donald: *gets mad*
Me: See, I watched Mickey's Philharmagic and when you conducted the orchestra, it was awful and you were chasing your hat and you could never get it....
Donald: *taps foot impatiently, hand on hip*
Me: and then at the end when he got back and conducted it sounded wonderful! Mickey Mouse is just better than you.
Donald: *makes hand talking yapping gesture*
Me: Nahhhhhh I'm just kidding, I love you both.
Donald: *signs my autograph book Donald Duck #1, points at it, shows everyone else, and then poses with #1 hand sign for picture*

Me: Where's Abu?
Jasmine: You know, I'm mad at him right now! He came to the castle (Akurshus) the other day and started a food fight!

Belle: *sees that I don't have a wedding ring on* Oh, don't date Gaston. He has stinky feet.

We've had several memorable encounters as well. We met Peter Pan who quickly asked us where we were from. When we said "Kentucky" he replied "Oh - the place where they keep all the chickens?" The little kids didn't understand but we sure got a kick out of it! At the Animal Kingdom my son was nervous about meeting Stitch. In an attempt to warm him up Stitch took the spray bottle out of my son's hands & started spraying himself...then turned it around & sprayed water in my son's face! It was hysterical! We also met Donald at Cape May breakfast. My son still had his pacifier & apparently Donald thought he a bit too old for it. He snatched it right out of his mouth & shook his head no. My son quickly looked at me with an "aren't you gonna do something about that" look in his eyes - snapped the camera right at that moment! Still one of my favorite photos.

love these stories :goodvibes

Was just at the world in june/july and me and my bff were determined to get pictures with as many characters as possible.
Soo we saw aladdin and jasmine at morocco, and I asked aladdin where abu was. With no delay he told me abu was walking thru the market with them but he saw a little girl eating ice cream so he ran after her because "you know monkey's and their ice cream". haha loved how ready he was for my question :wizard: andd for a side note..aladdin was pretty adorable :lovestruc

We also came across Alice in the UK who was very talkative. She asked my bff what she had done so far that day and bff got a little tough tied and said "umm i dunno" so alice than proceeded to ask if she was "mad" and how she didn't know what she did that day. Than alice turns to me (at this point taking a picture) and asks who I am. So i tell her that's my best friend and she asked if i was "mad" as well and if I knew what we did that day. So I told her and I think she asked if I talked to any animals yet?
Also early when we were waiting in line a duck walked past her and into the flowers and she started talking to him. :rotfl:

I think the most "in character" person i've seen (that I can think of) from my last trip was snow white at epcot. We pretty much just took a picture with her but watching her with the little kids, she made it so magical for them. :wizard:

i'm sure i have more that I'm not thinking of, i love interactive characters :goodvibes
