Best graduation present ever! July 2012 PTR

Suzi, as a mommy to a cat, I am so sorry about your baby. Praying that she'll find her way home to you soon so you can snuggle her! I hope she's just taking shelter in someone's carport or something.

On a side note, I love your planner pages!

Thanks Liddy. It has been really rainy here each day since she left. So I have a feeling she is hold up in someones barn or something. I just hope she wasn't hurt in the fall :( We are supposed to have bad thunder showers this afternoon, but then its going to clear up for a few days straight, so maybe we can get her home soon. The ad is coming out in our local paper today, so maybe I will get a call. *crossing fingers*

On a side note, I love your planner pages!

Thanks! I am so excited that I found an app for my phone that lets me just view the pages. So I don't have to print them out and carry them along with me each day.

Suzi, sorry to hear about your cat. I hope she comes back or someone finds her and calls you. Here's to hoping!

Thanks so much. Still no sign of her tonight. And we have a pretty good round of thunder showers heading our way for tonight. She is going to be pretty scared out there. I hope she has found shelter somewhere :(

Oh dear...how sad. I am keeping my fingers, toes (and everything else) crossed and saying prayers that Molly comes home.

Thank you Kathy. I appreciate it!

Molly update.....

So a couple nights ago I put my sweatshirt and a small bowl of food out under a box for her. It has rained here every day since Sunday when she left. The sweatshirt was soaked, so I took that out last night and refreshed the food. This morning the food was GONE!

Now, I know this doesn't mean it was her that ate it, could've been another neighborhood cat. And she isn't showing herself this morning. But it gives me hope. I filled the food again this morning, and now with the nicer stretch of weather, we will be outside alot more. Hopefully she will hear Bradey playing and just come running. I hope I hope I hope

So what should be Dani's first Disney ride? Keep in mind...

Our flight lands at 10:30am. I had planned on heading right to DTD for lunch and a little shopping. Then we have to be at Epcot for a 7:45 ADR. But we have hoppers, so we could go somewhere else first. What do you all think is the best way to introduce her to Disney? I was tentatively thinking Figment. I know its not a thrill ride, but it is so totally Disney. The slow moving, animatronic, sign-a-long kind of ride. But we could also run over to MK first too. What would you do?

Personally... First trip to Disney... Must go to MK before anything else... And Splash would be a must do!

D~

She's home! I got out of my car tonight and called to Molly and I heard a loud "MEOW". She was in the woods right next to the house. We have our baby back!

She is limping a little, so I called the vet and they got her in right away. She had two ticks on her, and he thinks it is just a sprain on her front leg from falling. He gave her a rabies booster (although he didn't think she had been bitten by anything, no scratches on her at all) and an anti-inflamitory medicine to help with the sprain. All in all she is completely healthy and she looks great! I thought she would be all matted and muddy after all the rain we had, but she is just as bright white as before. Such a happy household tonight!

Yeah, I am thinking I might change the plans to include MK first. Afterall, if I am planning on taking midday breaks most days we will have plenty of DTD time :)

I had to stop by to tell you how happy I am that you have Molly back... I think that deserves a family picture. ;)

Okay, I will try to post one. Bradey was playing around with his little camera last night. He was snap snap snapping away like it was a professional photo shoot. I will look and see if he got anything good :) He has one of those KidTuff Digital cameras. It's pretty cool. Doesn't take super high quality photos, but he has fun with it. I'll try to grab a good pic tonight. Last night we were just so happy to have her back. I don't think I set her down all night :cloud9:

So now that I can stop worrying about Molly.....

2 MONTHS FROM TODAY WE WILL BE THERE. I just can't wait to share this with her!

I posted a new thread over on the Theme Park Strategies board asking for ideas of her first ride and what to do first. Boy....people are kinda mad at me. They keep saying that she is old enough to decide herself and I shouldn't be making all the decisions. Do you guys feel that way? Should I abandon all plans and let her decide what to do when we get there? She doesn't know ANYTHING about Disney. She has no idea what to expect and doesn't have the spare time to pour over all the Disney stuff like I do. I am trying to make it fun for her......Obviously I know that she may not like certain things and our plans will always change last minute if lines, crowds, heat, circumstances affect us. I am just trying to set a rough schedule. I am a compulsive planner and don't think I could deal with just "winging it". Do you think my plans are okay?

OK - I am sorry to say it - and I will probably get flames from all the lurkers... but, personally, the people that post over in the theme park section can sometimes be a bit "harsh"... I always avoid posting over there - if I can - because if you type something wrong, or say something the wrong way - they really get on to you.

No, you are not doing anything wrong, I feel it's pretty awesome that you are doing this for your DN... I still vote for MK - just because it's so magical unto iteself... and I really feel like you could choose any attraction there (perhaps Dumbo??? - it's so awesome now that it's refurbed) and she would get the Disney feel.

(((Hugs))) Perk up... We're all nice here, and we know you - they don't. K????

Thanks D~. I don't take it personally, it just rubs me the wrong way. We are all just being nice and along comes this "Dis snob" to ruin everything :) But I did get some good ideas. The best one is yours by the way. I am changing our plans to skip DTD the first day and head straight to MK. I know it will be hot and crowded, but I just can't wait for her to see the Castle! We will have plenty of mid-day down time to explore DTD later.

Anyone know if they are done, or when they will be done with that stupid scrim by Main Street Bakery? It totally ruins it! Hopefully it is down by July.

D~, was the new Dumbo up and running when you were there? I can't wait to see the new stuff. I wish more was gonna be open in the expansion, but at least BTMRR will be up again :cool1: I really missed that in February.

She's not going to care what we do first. She will just be so happy to be there. I figure if the rides are too busy, we can just shop around and maybe see some low key things that we won't have to waste time on later.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I am so happy to hear that Molly is home...that just made my day.

I kind of think you should just stick with Epcot on the first day. I know a lot of people feel they have to go the MK on the first day, but I kind of like the anticipation of getting there a day or two later. It really depends, for us, on what time we get there, what time the parks are open until, etc.

I would do Figment or I would do The Seas with Nemo!

I think its just going to depend on how we feel once we get there and what the weather is like. If we are too tired (we will be getting up around 3 am) we might not try to conquer MK right off. I know it will be much more crowded than Epcot. We will see. I will have a few ideas for each park and just see where the wind blows us that day :)

I'm very excited to try Via Napoli though. Yum yum.

I am so glad Molly came home. Yay!

As for dani and the rides. I say your plans look great. Plan as much as you want. If Dani sees something or asks to do something that you didn't plan, I say just go for it. Keep in mind that plans should be fluid. I plan out everything and my husband, kids, and mom always ask to do other things....so we also go with the flow. I think you are doing the right thing in creating a plan. By planning you are just ensuring that certain things get done. :thumbsup2

I'M SO HAPPY TO HEAR!!!!!! Such great news! I'm glad it's just a minor boo-boo and she'll be better soon!

Personally, while she is old enough to make her decisions, she doesn't have the knowledge that people who have gone recently have. She definitely could use some guidance.

Anyone who doesn't take some sort of "rough, flexible" schedule with them won't maximize their time and enjoyment. That's just fact. Sure, you can go with NO plans and wing it 100%, but you'll miss out on a lot. Again, fact. Ignore the TROLLS on the boards. It's on every forum in the world -- trolls. They're jealous and petty and will say anything to make them feel good about themselves. I think she should get lots of input once she gets her "surprise" trip ... so I would suggest a daily meeting to discuss the plans for that day (or the next day) so you can go from there! :thumbsup2

Harsh? D, they're trolls. Most of them have no business even being on this board. There are tons of people who visit forums just to give other people grief. I have no issues calling them what they are. :thumbsup2 Granted, the DIS does a pretty good job at keeping it as being as bad as some other forums. I'm very thankful for that. But they can't really do much for people "speaking their mind" as long as they're not attacking or being foul. Sigh. So let's call an apple an apple and a troll a troll. :goodvibes

But anyway, back on track, I agree with D. I would hit MK first and hit up one of the iconic rides, grab an iconic snack, and just soak it up! Really, you can't go wrong with any of the rides or parks! They're all amazing! And if you want, let her decide on the plane! You'll have time to discuss itinerary!

She is still limping, but not as noticeably. I just can't believe what good condition she is in for all the rain and mud we had while she was "lost". Maybe she ran up a tree and stayed up there until the thunder storm. We got her back that next day after it was such a bad storm.

Personally, while she is old enough to make her decisions, she doesn't have the knowledge that people who have gone recently have. She definitely could use some guidance.

Thank you. This is what my thoughts were. I know she is old enough, but she has no clue what there is at Disney and even if she had the time (which she doesn't) to pour over the guide books, there is still really no way you can be prepared for it. Plus, with the crowds that week and not getting to a park until noon....most of the "headliners" will have too long lines. We will figure it out.

I was kind of following the advice from the previous trip that said not to do MK first as it will make all the other parks look dull. But I realize that advice was for traveling with a 5 year old. Dani will love all the parks there. I think I agree with the non-trolls.....We will plan on MK first after a quick lunch at POFQ. Then we will go over to Epcot via monorail to eat and tour WS a little that night. Can't stay in MK too long, we will be there bright and early the next morning for EMH.

Yay! Its getting so close! I made up some new Mousekeeping envelopes. And I printed off all the "planner pages" to put in an album for her graduation present. Can't wait!

Question for D~ (or really anyone else too)

D~, I notice that in some of your pictures on your TR, you and the girls have your refillable mugs with you in the parks. Did you just fill them at FQ before heading out, or will they give you ice water in them at the parks?
