Anyone have one?

How old were you when you did it?

Still have it?

Any comments from your spouse/SO/family/friends?

If you could go back, would you do it again?

The only piercing I ever had was my ears - and I'm pretty sure they're closed up now..

My oldest has hers done. I let her at 17 so I could make sure she took care of it. She's 22 and still has it.
She didn't show it to anyone that would freak out.

I had mine done when I was 19 or 20. I had to take it out one day when I had surgery and never put it back in.

I have thought about having it redone but I'm getting too old now :lmao:

I have one.

Did it when I was about 21 or 22.

I am now 39 and still have it.

Pretty much everyone thought I was nuts except the friend who went with me. DH who was just a boyfriend at the time grew to like it.

I would do it again in a minute.

I got one when I was probably 26 or so...even though it was done badly (WAY too deep, like inside my belly button, basically), I kept it for 4 years. I finally got sick of the constant trouble with it and had it removed and haven't looked back.

I got mine done at 16 and I'm 21 now. I still have it, but I may regret it once my stomach gets bigger and it stretches out. I think my belly button looks naked without something there! I'd probably do it again though, it's just a part of me now.

Are you planning on getting one?

I was 17 when I had mine done.. So I've had it for 10 years now.:scared1: ( I feel old! lol)
I hid it from my parents for as long as I could.. My mom found out, fortunately in a public place so she couldn't kill me! haha

One of my brothers used to call me trash with it, but he doesn't care now.
My DH loves it.

I would probably do it again, although it wasn't my idea to get one, but that's a whole different story. I've enjoyed having it.

Still have it? no, I had to take it out when pregnant with DD#1

Any comments from your spouse/SO/family/friends? DH loved it until I hit my 3rd trimester

If you could go back, would you do it again? no, the hole never closed and it looks really nasty now after 3 kids. Really it is the only thing that keeps me from wearing a bikini. I had a cute belly button that will never look right again.

I don't have one (too old for peircings except in my ears ;) ), but I generally think they're cute on younger women. A co-worker of mine had one, though, and ended up with an awful keloid kind of scar. She still liked the piercing and showed it off (that's how we all knew she had one :) ) but :scared1: . Seeing it would be enough to scare ya off getting one.

I did it when I was 19. I never wear bikinis or midriffs, so it was a strictly for myself, the only people who saw it were those I specifically showed it to. It was fun while it lasted, but I won't do it again. The way most clothes fit on me, the waist bands were rubbing where it was and it was very uncomfortable. It fell out one night while I was sleeping and it was new enough that it closed up. I didn't feel the need to spend the money to have it redone, and I'm much more comfortable now.

I got my belly button pierced for my 17th birthday. My mom took me and my best friend, who turned 18 a few days after my birthday, to get them done together.

I kept it for 2 years, but it never healed right. Most times it would ooze and get crusty (I know, yummy, right?). I ended up getting a big keloid inside my belly button, around the hole. Eventually, I'd had enough of visiting different doctors and piercing experts who all had ways to help it heal -- this thing was obviously not meant to be in my skin.

It's been gone for 10 years now, and I STILL have a hole on the outside of my belly button! The keloid is long gone, thankfully. It cleared up very quickly after the jewelry was removed.

My best friend still has her piercing (12 years later!), by the way. Hers has been perfect since day one. Go figure. :confused3

The first time I did it....I was 23...and I passed out...LOL
I took it out when I got pregnant (because my friend had an awful huge scar for keeping hers in)...then got it repierced at 26 afer my daughter was born... I kept it in for 6 yrs until I got pregnant again last year...

If I get my belly back after this baby due next year, I may redo it again :)

My daughter got hers done right after she turned 18. She's 21 now and her dad still doesn't know about it so, shhh... don't tell him! ;)

I had mine done when I was 30 I am 36 now and still have it.

I would do it again. It was quick, I wouldn't say painless but it was quick. It itched a lot when it was healing but nothing some anti itch cream wouldn't take care of.

You definitely have to take care of it, I had a friend who neglected taking care of her's when she had it done and the only thing I will say is it wasn't pretty. She was hospitalized for a few days due to the infection.

If you do, do it make sure the place you are going is reputable. I.E make sure they sterilize their needles. Make sure to buy the spray they sell for body piercings also, it works well.

I wouldn't keep it out for longer then a day too the hole will close up quick. A lot quicker then the holes in your ears if you have your ears pierced. They told me I had to take mine out when I got pregnant, I took it out for 4 days and when I went to put it back in the hole was almost closed up.

I finally found a website that sold belly rings for pregnant women and used that til my baby was born :)

I got mine done when I was 23 (12 years ago) and had it until 2 years ago. It was infected almost constantly the first year - until I went to a Wet N Wild and all the chlorine killed whatever was in there. :scared1:

I took it out when I had a CT scan done, and it closed up so quickly I couldn't put it back in after 4 days.

I wish I had never done it - I still have a hole right above my navel, not pretty.

Had it done when I was 25 to celebrate my divorce (and release some pent up rebellion-ex was a control freak.) Still have it. My extremely conservative mom freaked when she first saw it. The funny thing was I had had it almost 5 yrs. and she hadn't had a clue. Now, she just asks "Does it hurt? It looks like it hurts?"
I don't regret it. It marks a very important time in my life...a divorce, an escoptic (sp?) mc, being told I'll never be able to carry a child to term. It reminds me to let loose when my chest starts feeling tight.

I had it done twice. The first time I was 20. It wasn't done right and would never heal. The second time I was 25. That healed. I kept it in for a few years. I took it out when I had our 2nd child. My family never said much about it. They thought that kind of stuff was gross but they never gave me grief. I also was not the type to wear half shirts so it wasn't like it was in their face etc. If I could go back I would never ever have had it done. I no longer have it in and I have 2 scars. I had a cute bellybutton that now has 2 yucky scars. Stupid stupid stupid!

On another note- a friend of mine had hers done. She had it for many years and then got really sick. She ended up having surgery and almost died. She had a raging infection that had been building and building. The doctors believe it all started with the piercing.

I got my navel pierced for my 40th birthday... still have it and still love it. I recommend a "barbell" instead of a ring. The ring tends to want to lay on one side and we "older" ladies tend to still wear higher waisted pants. I didn't have any trouble with my barbell (which is a pink jewel).
thought my hubby would find it sexy... he still thinks it's dumb. I don't care! It makes me feel young and hip!
