Okay, here's the scenario.....dh and I were supposed to be heading to WDW in Nov for Food and Wine Half Marathon weekend. He was 100% sure he was going...so I booked our travel with JB....$319 pp, r/t. Well, now he finds he has to travel to Laguna Beach the weekend before our WDW trip, and returns home either the night before we are supposed to travel, or the day of travel. He is a homebody, so there is no way he is going to want to get home and then take off again...so, I am excusing him from this trip. BUT.....I'm still going, we're on the same itinerary and he doesn't have a JB travel number, I do. To make things even more complicated, I may have a friend going in his place, but there is no way she is going to pay for the same flight I'm on....it's up to about $600 r/t at the moment!!! I can wait and see what she is going to do....but, here's my question. If I call and cancel just my dh, will his airfare, minus the change fee, go into my travel credit account? And will I still be able to stay on that itinerary? Or, am I going to be better off just waiting to see what my friend is going to do, then cancel the entire itinerary and rebook, minus the change fee..which I assume is going to be $100 pp..so $200, but on a total fare of over $600, I can live with that.
Any thoughts?

Yes, and yes. Even if he'd had his own travel (TrueBlue?) number, you'd still be able to later use his credit to make your own purchase. Itinerary stays the same, removing one person doesn't affect it. Removing all passengers would, but...

Any possibility of talking him into flying from Laguna Beach to MCO instead of flying home and then out again? If he travels the same day you do, you might be able to find a flight that gets him into MCO around the same time as your original flight. Worst case, you both take DME and meet up at the resort.

That was my thought as well. But, he hates being away from home too long. A real homebody! After 3 nights away, he's itching to get home! It's a recurring issue with us!!! I suggested that to him, he politely declined. So, if he has to be away from home, it should be for work, since he pays for all my trips! Don't want to jeopardize those!!!

Just a suggestion, but what if you do a name change on his ticket to your friends name? Not sure of the cost, but then your friend could just pay you the original ticket fee plus the change fee.

I don't think the airlines allow for a name change. I'm waiting to see what my friend is going to do before I make any changes. I don't want to have to make too many changes....that's courting disaster with the airlines!!!

You cannot change the name on an airline ticket.
