A little help, pls!:D

Our crew will be staying at VWL in a few weeks. We will have 4 adults and 4 kids -- (a 7, a 6, and two 2's). SOme questions:

(1) Are bed rails available? I think I saw another thread mention them -- I know the porta-cribs are in the room, but I think our 2 yr olds will be too big for those. Bed rails would be wonderful. I considered even making a floor palette for one child, but a bed would be so much nicer for 10 days....Do you have to reserve rails ahead of time, or ask @ check-in? We will probably need at LEAST 2 rails, maybe 3...

(2) Isn't 4 pm a hard-fast rule? I see some folks mentioning trying to check-in early. I always thought 4 pm was the "Law". (Or at least, they always enforced it that way at OKW...) Has anybody ever gotten in early?

(3) At OKW, you drive almost right up to your door. DH is not liking the concept of hauling all our crap for ten days through elevators and hallways, but he likes even LESS the idea of a "bellhop" (or whatever they are called). How do you manage your luggage, groceries and such when staying at VWL or BWV? IS it the nightmare we are imagining?

Lastly -- do you check in down at VWL, in its lobby? Or do you do it back up at the WL Main Lodge?

Thanks in advance---

Cindy

I'm not sure about the bed rails. Maybe someone else knows the answer to that one. 4pm is not a hard and fast rule. If the room is ready early they will let you move right in. But the room is not guarateed to be ready until 4pm. We've gotten in early a number of times. Check-in for VWL is at the WL lobby not at VWL. If you are not going to use bell service you will probably need to park in the parking lot and carry everything from there. You will want to park as close to the gated entrance as you can since the villas are on that side of the resort. If you can get in the first or second row of the lot it is closer to the villas than going through the main lobby. I would definitely check-in first and then go back for the luggage if you are not going to use bell service.

You may want to double check the guaranteed check in time. When we were at the VWL a couple weeks ago, we were told check in was at 4:00 but not guaranteed until 5:00. First I had heard of that one but they seemed to all be saying the same thing.

During previous stays, we were able to check-in early.

Bed rails are available at OKW; gates, too. I think we've requested them at check-in.

Enjoy!

I would use bell services; will you have a car? Just park out front of the WL, they will meet you at your car, load everything on that cart, and meet you after you check in to go to your room - there would be a small tip, but the difference in the hassle would be large. It seems to me that the closest place that you could "park" temporarily to the WLV is a little "dip" in the road past the turn off for the busses, but that is a pretty long haul with a lot of stuff - really, I think that the bell service is the way to go.
