Bec & Chris - Wishes Wedding 03/01/11 WP/WHR/SCP - Some extra pics and **COMPLETE**

Waiting for the contract was the longest week ever, and then when we finally received it, DF hemmed and hawed about signing it! It was kind of shocking about how formal and final it is, but I couldn't wait to get it down there so I overnighted it! Now the wait for my planner is taking forever...

Can't wait to follow along! Our weddings are close to each other :goodvibes

Luckily my DF asks me to summarise, and then he signs where I point  too bad he's not a "bajillionair" or I could have been off with all his money long ago!! :lmao:

I wonder if I can fax or email my signed contract... :confused3

I must admit..I have become obsessed with your PJ. I am a November 2011 bride too and all of your excitement is rubbing off on me! I thought it was too far out to start planning and getting excited but boy did you prove me wrong! Ive got sooo much to do! Im addicted and following verrrry closely! I love everything you have put together and am so excited to follow more! Keep it comin!popcorn::

Thankyou :goodvibes

I received my LOA  which I'm really excited about, but trust my luck for the AU$ to plummet right when I need to be sending in a $2000 deposit :rotfl:

How did other international brides send in their deposit? I don't really want to do it by credit card, as they'll charge to do the currency conversion, but I think that's going to be the only way to do it to make sure the conversion is accurate. Why on Earth don't they use paypal?!?

Yay you got your LOA!!! That is so exciting! :)

I am not from overseas, but I am also not from the US. We sent our deposit with a money order. I didn't want to use a credit card either so this worked well for us.

Who did the exchange rate for you?

I did a money order for both hair and makeup deposit and the officiant and I just told the bank I needed a money order for ____US dollars and they did it at the current conversion rate.

hmm, that's not a bad idea. I thought you could only get money orders in your own currency

I'll check with the bank, it might be easier.

Fingers crossed we should be booking our flights this afternoon. The flight that we can book online is from Sydney 9:05pm Feb 23rd, arriving in LA 3:50pm Feb 23rd, leaving LA 10:05pm Feb 23rd and arriving in Orlando 5:49am on Feb 24th for $1244 per person.

I don't really want to arrive in Orlando at 5am, so I called them to find out about stop overs, she told me we could have a stop over in LA, leave there on the 24th at 10am and arrive in Orlando at 6pm that night. Which would be great, however to book a flight with a stop over you need to do it over the phone, which always comes up more expensive :sad2: For this flight on those days it was now going to cost $1498.30 per person

Luckily the lady I was talking to was lovely, and she found that if we left Sydney on the 22nd (Or was it the 21st? Now I'm confused, I wrote down the 22nd, so we'll stick with that) had the stop over for the night in LA and landed in Orlando on the 23rd we could get the flights for $1243.30 per person

so I've got that on hold for 24 hours so we can work out what's happening. I had a thought after hanging up though, I'm going to call back and ask about group bookings, to see if it comes up any cheaper again. At this price it probably wouldn't take long to get 10 people to fly at the same time as us. :confused3

I'll let you all know how we go.

I thought I posted this already... It must still be up on the screen of my laptop at home waiting to be posted

Any hoo, We booked our flights!!

I think we got a really great deal, I've been saying to my guests all along that if they see return flights to Orlando for less then $1400 BOOK IT! And the flights I just booked were $1243 per person!! :cool1:

So, we're leaving Sydney on the 22nd of Feb at 9pm, and arriving on the same day at LA at 3pm, then instead of spending 6 hours in the air port and arriving in Orlando at the crack of dawn, we're staying overnight in a hotel, and then flying out at 10am, we'll then arrive in Orlando at 6pm on the 23rd. :thumbsup2

hmm... I didn't pay as much attention to the return flight... Maybe I should have looked at that more before booking the flights...

Now I'm going to look into which hotel we're going to stay at in LA. All we want is something close to the airport, with a restaurant, and reasonably priced. An added bonus would be free wi-fi, but it's not essential...

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :scared1: I think I just killed my wedding planning pen drive with ALL of my information on it...

I bent it, is there a way to fix bent pen drives?!?! It's not being recognised!!

Congrats on booking your flights! I know nothing about flying overseas, but it seems like you got a great deal! :)

I don't know what to tell you about the pen drive though - I know a computer techie that I ask everything to. Maybe you could take it into an electronics store and just see if they can give you any (free) suggestions.

First...breathe...Second...try another computer. If that doesn't work...then scream...:surfweb:

I love how you linked everything at the beginning! How did you do that? Everything looks wonderful! Good Luck

No it's dead :sad2: I know it's not the computer, coz I sat on the pen drive while it was still plugged in and bent it. Unfortunately I find this incredibly funny interspersed with angst at all of the stuff I've lost.

Really, I can track down everything I had saved, it's just the stuff that I created that's gone. Like my guest list :guilty:

Ah well, it's my own fault for not backing it up everywhere.

Thanks, if you click the post number in the top right hand corner of your post it opens up a new page with just your post on it. I used that url to create links in the front page.

I'm sorta thinking I should have done it in chronological order, because the way it is now has you bouncing all over the place :confused3

Sadly, my pen drive has gone for good, luckily I've never deleted a wedding related email, so I've been able to get a lot of the stuff I lost from there. Unfortunately all of the photos I had of me trying on dresses (not including the ones posted here) were on there, and everything I either found on the net, or created myself has gone :sad2:

It's ok though, I'll move on.

We sent our LOA away yesterday, so the ball is definitely rolling. Here's an updated timeline/checklist.
