Beating the Winter Blues - I Hate When That Happens! 21/4

Hi Marissa
Yes it has been a long time!! Stuff happens, life gets busy and all that. Deciding to write this TR was a spur of the moment thing and I hope to do most of it "live" since I won't have much time once spring rolls around.

When were you in Ontario, which month? Did you visit any other attractions in NF (other than the falls) and where was the train ride?




We started our vacation by walking the Mackinac Bridge in MI, then drove up to Sault St. Marie, both sides. The train ride was in Sault St. marie and went 100 miles north along Lake Superior. We fly fished somewhere up there. Then we drove down around Lake Huron, to Lake Ontario and then to Niagra Falls. Our vacation started Labor Day weekend and after the walk on Labor Day, we then went into Canada. The temps in WI were over 90 degrees. On Labor Day, temps dropped into the 50's. and remained there till we got home. I really didn't mind, I really hate hot sticky.
When we were fly fishing, I kept telling my dh, Canada is just like the movie at WDW. ya, he wasn't amused.

I never knew there were so many wineries around Niagra Falls.
The DIS should have a smilie of a wine glass.

I picked up some new sneakers on the weekend and have been wearing them around the house during the day to break them in so I don't get blisters next week.

A special visitor arrived and is packed and ready to go with us:

It wouldn't be the same without Stitch


This evening I dug out my pin collection to see if I had any traders that I could bring along and looks like I only have 3 that I *might* be willing to trade...still debating on that. I have a problem parting with my pins - it's a sickness

and I blame a certain Goofy fella for that addiction

I keep my special Disney trinkets in this box:

and this last one I picked up for a bet I had going with a certain DISer. We had a wager of who would be the first to finish their trip report and sadly neither of us finished. I'm keeping it until I am able to have a DIS meet and give it in person - at least that is what I keep telling myself - it lets me hang on to it longer

It's mostly likely I will buy some pin trader sets and keep what I have

I have the same problem with pin trading, so i don't even bother wearing them in the park. They are all my precious...you can't have my precious...

I'm not even bringing them for fear of my luggage getting lost at the airport or something crazy like that

This is NOT your trip Mother! Those were JoJo's exact words when I tried to make some changes to the plans. You see, this is her trip and I am only a guest - invited along out of pity.


It was early spring when JoJo came to me and mentioned she was planning a trip to P.E.I. with her BFF. I suggested rather than go there, why not WDW? I mean really, it's a no brainer and BFF has never been to the World.

In the meantime, our youngest DD had been making HER own plans for a trip after graduation with friends and I thought, heck - this means that DH and I can finally take a trip by ourselves to that magical place! I was ecstactic at the very idea of it until he burst my bubble.

The four of us were sitting outside when I casually mentioned that he and I should take a winter trip to WDW since the girls had their own plans for 2011. Silence. I hate silence. When there is silence you know it can't be good.

I held my breath waiting for him to answer which seemed like an eternity. "No." Did I hear correctly? Could he really mean that? Why on earth not?

It seemed like a perfectly splendid idea to me, how was it possible that he wouldn't want to go? I can only imagine that the disappointment must have shown on my face because shortly thereafter, JoJo turned to me and asked, "Do you want to come with us Mom?" Are you kidding me? Do you even need to ask? YES!!!!

As for DH's reasons, and there were a few - the main one being that he didn't want to go when it was cold there, still didn't make sense to me - still doesn't but I didn't fight it. There was no point now that I already had in invite from JoJo!!

Well..... then the Disney planner in me started coming out and I was making all sorts of suggestions.... which brings us to the title of this installment. It was considerably hard to take a back seat and let her have at it but that is exactly what I did. JoJo planned the hotel, ADR's, dates etc. There were a few things I persuaded her to change but for the most part, it's her trip! She did have the help of our wonderful travel agent as well - the "Fairy Godmother", as she's known to us.

JoJo chose some of our favourite restaurants and some she thought her BFF would like and also added a few new ones for us to try. I'm very proud of her as I know what is involved with this task

Blue, I absolutely love your farm and your farm pictures. I live in a big crazy, fast-paced, city and so often (on the weekends) we drive inland to the country just to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Just so peaceful.

I do have allot of pins but I am not into pin trading. When I buy myself a pin (which is often because we live so close to Disneyland) I buy it with some meaning in mind ... hence, I want to keep them all.

JoJo just asked me to move her Pre-trip, because you are leaving tomorrow. I hope you have great warm weather.
I saw pre-views of the new Cruise ship for Disney that was launched this week, and it looked so nice and warm, not like the freezing temps we are having this weekend.

When we were in Canada, I kept thinking to myself, "Where the heck did Heidi and Leesa say they lived. I could only remember that you had a 2 hour ride to the Buffalo/Canada border, and you hated crossing, because sometimes it took forever. We crossed the border right at Niagra Falls at noon and it took only 10 minutes, I thought we were going to be sitting there 2 hours.

Ya...kudos but not being in control has left me feeling a bit stressed for some odd reason

I keep the ones I've bought and those pins given to me but it's a lot of fun to buy a trader set and trying to find that special one...ya know?
