Heading to the beach next week...what kind of snacks do you pack? (looking for some new ideas!)
If you have a cooler, I would pack things that are refreshing. Have items that are sealed because sand seems to get in to everything. Disposable plates and cutlery. Pack an extra hefty trash bag to contain your trash.
My tips
1. Save old milk cartons, fill 80% with water and freeze. pack in cooler
2. Towelettes: Wash hands up to elbow. This is to get sand off more then anything else. Have these in the cooler.
3. Yogurt with granola: High energy, yogurt is sealed, cool, refreshing
4. Fruit within its skin: Thing like apples, bananas, etc. Dont peel and cut up fruit because sand gets in it.
5. Fruit juice bags: I like the bags because they pack in the coolers easier. You might even freeze them, and then pull them out about an hour before using them.
6. Bottled water: I might even freeze the water in bottles to use as ice, and drink as they defrost. Depends on cooler size
7. Keyboard cleaner: Yeah right, like HUH? These keyboard compressed air cleaners will blow sand out of anything. Beware, it comes out real cold, but after the towelette and drying off, this can blow off the excess sand. Use short bursts.
8. Stay away from processed sweets. The sugar lows that follow arent worth the drag.
9. Wraps: If youre gonna make something, make wraps and slice them up to make them eatable in 1 bites. This will reduce the sand problem
10. SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN! SUNSCREEN!
11. If you can make a shade area, do so. Lean-to, or umbrella will pay off in the long run.
