Be Thankful for President Bush

I guess we will have to hold our laughter and wait to see if the liberals ever get back in power. ;)

Just as an aside, that's EXACTLY what we said about the Conservative party here in the UK. The socialist "Labour" party, headed by Tony Blair, have enjoyed three consecutive landslide elections in a row and a rash of truly awful Conservative leaders seemed to have laid the opposition to rest in a very final way. They were even being supplanted by the third and far left Liberal Democrats party.

In my personal opinion, this was not a welcome turn of events. Democracy depends on opposing views and for the last ten years we've had a socialist left wing government contesting with a even more left wing opposition. For ten years, we have had practically NO conservative representation in Parliament.

In a way, it was quite encouraging. The UK has been in a monstrously good state ever since the socialists gained power with an economy that has been quite literally roaring forward. The property market is terrifyingly buoyant (probably too much!) and we've been relatively free of scandal.

We've lived without a strong conservative voice for a decade with massive bouts of good fortune.

However, it was always destined to revert, just as it will in the USA (and your opposition has only suffered two borderline defeats!) The conservatives have found themselves a good leader (who is actually labelled as a left wing politician) and Labour's growing amounts of bloat is once again being challenged.

In any modern democracy, the key lies in the opposition. It keeps us in check and is so, so precious. True, the last decade has been ser-weet without the conservatives, but times must and Labour's surge of popularity is naturally waning.

Soon enough I think we'll have the conservatives in charge once more. They too will wane and we'll be back with Labour again.

It's like a see-saw.

I'm real glad GWB was our president on 9/11. I shudder to think what Mr. Heinz might NOT have done.

Hmm... I wonder if, when told that our country was under attack, Mr. KERRY would have sat stupified in a Florida classroom listening to a child read a book called My Pet Goat for SEVEN MINUTES before the light bulb went on and he thought that maybe he should make a few phone calls to find out exactly what that "we are under attack" statement meant.

Look at your clock. Sit on your couch. Say the words, "We are under attack." Then sit and watch the clock for 7 minutes. It's a long time.

I can't stand it when people say, "Oh thank God Bush was president on 9/11". He didn't do anything! Yeah, he gave a couple very good speeches in the days the followed, but they weren't written by him. Anyone can give a speech. But it takes a Bush to invade the wrong country and spend all the money we should be using on strengthening our borders on rebuilding Iraq instead.

I can understand why people are Republicans. I'm a moderate myself and can see both sides of many issues. But I'll never understand after the past few years how anyone can still support Bush.

Go Dubya Go!!!!! :teeth: :thumbsup2

Hopefully that won't be happening anytime soon JoeEpcot.

The Bush Republicans still have a lot to accomplish. Deficits still have room to grow, more illegal immigrants still want to come to our country and there are plenty of other countries we could invade which (like Iraq) pose no threat to us at all.

Then let's invade France next. ;) They probably won't even fight back. In fact, if Russia gives them our invasion plans, they may even surrender ahead of time.

But Kerry admits to being stunned not knowing what to do for an hour and a half.

Heck, if he was President in 2001, he might have been that way even longer. Who knows.

Anyways... it's pure speculation on your part as to Bush's state of mind at that time and what was going on behind the scenes.

Sure, we know Kerry would have grabbed a machine gun, teamed up with Rambo and Chuck Norris, and (with Kerry's "Christmas in Cambodia" CD playing in the background) launch such a devastating counter attack that every script writer in Hollywood would blush. Then he would say it's all our fault for starting it. :sad2:

You don't actually believe we are safe from enemy attack do you? I usually stay out of the pot stirring political threads but had to reply.

We aren't safer, the next attack just hasn't happened yet.

If it hasn't happened, then we have been safe, have we not?

:thumbsup2 Mossman, I couldn't agree with you more! :thumbsup2

Praise God :worship: for bringing us the Sainted George!

I want to say that I am so thankful for George showing us the way in regards to relaxing. What other president has done so much for advocating vacation time? None. Certainly those whiney liberal democrats never took as much vacation time as our George.

Memos and warnings about an imminent terrorist attack? Texas is the place to be so as not to worry about it.

The White House - naw, Crawford is the place to be.

A hurricane devastating an entire landmark city? Crawford again. And to take the stress off, how about sharing some birthday cake and guitar. Why worry about the things you cannot change?

Yes, our fine president has done more to teach us how to forget about our responsibilities by vacationing than any liberal ever could. That has to help the bottom line of healthcare, right? Less stress, less need for health care.

Thank you Mossman for starting this wonderful thread where we can really appreciate all the Republicans have done for us.

:cheer2: Go George :cheer2:

I know what he would have done jimmie. If Gore (or Kerry) was president on that fateful day he would have flown around aimlessly in Air Force One dithering like a muddle-headed liberal - not knowing what to do until he was told what to do by his advisors.

Then when he finally did land, he would have chose some country at random to invade for no particular reason at all.

Then, to finish it off, he would have a waited a few years and then handed over our port or airports to the very people who attacked us in the first place.

Can you believe those liberals. If their policies weren't so dangerous you would have to laugh at their incompetence.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Will you stop? :teeth:

In all seriousness, Gore or Kerry would have done just fine.

It's about time too!

Some day (far, far, away), when the Dems get back in power, we can only hope that they do a good job too -- and for the sake of our country and the world, not surrender to the terrorists -- and I will show my appreciation :grouphug:

Yup - Go George. :rotfl2:

Keep with your policies, keep staying the course. Your numbers are wonderful. Can't wait for the November election when those 65%+ of Americans who are disenchanted with your party cast their votes.

DC, where did you come up with this? :rotfl: :lmao:

We are not winning the war because the liberal media says it is so in the zingy one liners they throw around and that you lap up like some sort of dumb puppy without any kind of mind of your own?

If you want to push the liberal agenda why not do it in a more constructive way than some passive aggressive attack? Take the issues that the liberals hold dear and list them here for me and try, just try to convert me.

Oh, problem, the liberal agenda is currently without substance and is interested in using those all too cute yet not at all substantive zingy one liners to attack the current administration.

How do they plan to address Terrorism? Oh, right no comment, it ties directly into the Gay Marriage contraversy. We need to kiss up to those who killed so many of us on 911. We need to talk to them, make them like us, use diplomacy. Problem folks, if we let gay couples marry, it will not sit well with terrorists at all. So while we are kissing up to them and no longer allowing our girls to go to school, which they will stop blowing things up after we do, they would also like our gay people to be killed, along with anyone who prays to Jesus Christ, or are men who don't beat thier wives. I could go on and on!

Weren't we attacked (on a lesser scale) several times in the years preceding GWB? The Twin Tours, the Cole... We can't put up with this %&#&* anymore! I'm glad the President took the fight to them.
