Anybody that has been there this past week and gotten sick??? oh this makes me so nervous especially eating at the buffets which is most of our ADRs
we were at WDW last Sept. & 2 of the 3 ppl in our family got this stomach bug.
it was horrible, i knelt on the bathroom floor in our AKL room and honestly thought i'd have to call 911. i don't remember ever being so violently ill.
someone i work with visited WDW at Thanksgiving and all 4 ppl in his party got it as well, same symptoms.
lousy way to spend your vacation!
i'm sure it wasn't intentional, but i feel like your post insinuates that you didn't get sick because you were more careful or more clean than the people who have gotten sick...which at least in my case is not true. we had read this thread and well aware of the dangers and made sure to take as many precautions as we could and it still happened.
also, to all the people who say they didn't see any sick people while in WDW, i'll say that at least in my situation, nobody in the rooms around me or the parks have seen me sick...because i can't even leave the bed! and if the other people who have had this bug feel as bad as i have, i doubt they're wandering out in public either.![]()
we were just there...12/27 to 1/3 and our 2 kids got sick there mid-week and my hubby just was sick today! I have been spared so far. A person who has been sick with Norovirus is contagious for up to 2 weeks after being sick. Once infected, symptoms show up within 12-36 hours. I am trying to be very careful here at home since the other 3 of 4 of us are contagious!!!
As someone whos entire family has just had (and the baby still has) the stomach bug (Norwalk, Norwalk-like, norovirus or some sort of gastro bug) if anyone gets it now and then goes to Disney if it's the same strain, which I am assuming it is as long since it seems to be everywhere, your body will build an immunity to it for a few months so this if it's still in Disney when we get there we should be protected. Finally something positive comes out of the torture we have all endured for the past 4 days!![]()
We were there 12/18-12/23. My brother was the only one who got sick. However, I don't think it was the same bug because he had no vomiting or diarrhea, just a horrible chest cough and aching all over plus a fever. Either way, he missed a few days in the parks. Nobody else got it though.
We ate at buffets, swam in pools, did just about everything... Unfortunately DB got sick, but I have a feeling he had contracted the illness before we left since it was on the third day.
-mommyrants- this sounds like a really idea, I hope we can set up a speadsheet. I see you are going in a month...we are currently planning our trip, we are looking into the 1 or 2 week of Feb, so it would be nice to have this info, maybe we could avoid this if it is still lurking. We were planning on staying at AKL, i did not know they were hit hard by this........i would move our room to avoid it though
Actually I thought BC and GF were some of the hardest hit!! I have seen only a handful of people on here talking about getting it who were staying at POP or AKL...of course I could be wrong!!
Has anyone thought about setting up a google spreadsheet or map (you can leave your name off) w/ what resort you were at on what dates. And what parks or buffets you visited prior to illness?
we could localize this info for ourselves?
Subjectively, it looks like POP and AKL are among the worst and POR/PFQ are mostly spared.
What do you think?
