Be aware if traveling to WDW within the next few days

No, I really don't think it has to do with "overeating". Do you run a fever with overeating? I don't think so. Do you have vomiting and diarrhea at the same time with overeating? Don't think so.:rotfl: That does not make any sense. I am due to go in 3 weeks and know there is a possibility that we may get it. I will take all the necessary precautions with handwashing, etc. However, the thought of gluttoney never crossed my mind. :confused3

Do you think there is any way to find out from the hotel if the person in the room before you was sick? I leave on Sat. and was contemplating asking them and hopefully not sounding like a nut. It seems this could be what keeps spreading it.

We werent' at Disney, but just got home from Vegas. DD16 has been sick for 2 days - She hasn't been out of her bed since Saturday night. I'm hoping she feels better when I get home from work.

I'm here to report that we survived whatever the heck that was:sick:

Flew out from Oregon on the 13th...10 days of vomiting and projectile pooping like I've never seen it. It hit my 12 year old on day 3. I have NEVER seen her so sick. I was in the laundry room attempting to clean clothes that she had destroyed and there was another mommy in there doing laundry for her three little ones that it hit in the middle of the night. Apparently, housekeeping told her that there had been 15 other families hit that night.

Well, I walked myself over to managment and warned them. I got something to the effect of "oh, what possibly could you mean?" "I haven't heard of anyone getting sick".

We missed days in the park and meal reservations. :headache: Not one person in the family was able to excape it.

It was supposed to be our trip of a lifetime. Now I look back at the pics and there is either someone who is missing or looks like they are just about there.

I just wish that with something like this hitting so many in the park, they would have done a better job with the cleaning. I remember telling my husband the first two days that I had never seen the bathrooms so disgusting. That usually the parks are so clean (including the bathrooms). Well, that explains it...more people using them. :scared1:

Just returned from a 10-day trip and none of us got sick. I was pretty worried before we left but while down there we never witnessed or heard about any other families getting sick.

I'm sorry to hear that this bug is still going around. I hoped it'd die off with people coming and going Christmas week through New Year's. We were there from 12/28 through 1/3 at the Yacht Club and GF (split-stay) and were fortunate to not get sick. We didn't see anyone or hear about anyone getting sick either. If it hadn't been for this site, I would not even know that there was a virus going around. No warnings from CMs or anything.

I tried to wipe down the rooms as soon as we arrived with Clorox wipes (with bleach) paying particular attention to door knobs and drawer handles. I know for a fact that housekeeping at the Yacht was spotty (our balcony was never cleaned and I don't think our housekeeper vacuumed) so I feel really lucky that no one in my family got it.

It just so happened that none of the ressies we had on this trip were buffets (I'm not counting Ohana for dinner as a buffet). We did eat at numerous restaurants both at the parks and resorts though, as well as counter-service and even snack carts (popcorn wagons), etc.

We did try to use hand sanitizer, although I know that it doesn't work anyway and we did try to wash our hands a lot more than usual (particularly before eating) and to not touch our faces; however, I think that we could have easily gotten it if we were exposed. I also went swimming in the SAB pool as well as the GF pool.

To all you traveling to the World soon- be safe and good luck!

I am SO SORRY that happened!! That's why getting a bug like this at WDW sucks so bad.... you spend all that money to travel down, get a nice resort, and days at the parks only to be ruined by illness if you're unfortunate. Go away already, nasty little Norwalk bug!!

We were there 12/18-12/23. My brother was the only one who got sick. However, I don't think it was the same bug because he had no vomiting or diarrhea, just a horrible chest cough and aching all over plus a fever. Either way, he missed a few days in the parks. Nobody else got it though.

We ate at buffets, swam in pools, did just about everything... Unfortunately DB got sick, but I have a feeling he had contracted the illness before we left since it was on the third day.

We stayed at the WL from 12/19 thru 12/26 and I was praying that our large group of 9 people wouldn't catch it. I posted on page 2 before we left. thankfully, everyone was fine and I insisted that everyone wash their hands frequently during the day and before eating. Honestly, though, I think we were really lucky cause hands would be in the snack bag after exiting a ride and it's impossible to maintain hyper clean vigilance! When we checked in to our rooms at the WL we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned (we kept it...great view and upgrade) and all I could think was that some poor soul had stayed in the room after checkout because they were too sick too leave! I was uneasy for a day or two, but all was well.
Best of luck to everyone traveling in the near future and stay healthy!

. On purpose I DID NOT spray or wipe anything in the room and NONE of us got sick.

LOL!!

Day 20. (Of this worry wart thread: unsubscribe). Time at WDW is way
too expensive and short to be sick with worry about things over
which we have no control. Before we even arrive! Let's go back to
bedbugs, OK? This horse is dead.

man - reading this thread makes my stomach churn! We don't leave for another 33ish days so I'm hoping everything is sanitized by then - but, I'm packing the wipes/sanitizer/rubbing alcohol for sure!!

Frankly, time at WDW is too expensive and short to spend it on the bathroom floor throwing up, so knowing ahead of time that there is Norovirus afoot at WDW is good. To be forewarned is forearmed! As far as I'm concerned this horse isn't dead so long as folks are reporting being sick.

I agree too...I think its good information to have. I am hoping we start to see reports coming in that this thing is gone. It seems like a it has been at the world for 3 weeks or so! That is kind of wierd:confused3 It seems like alot of people have been hit by this. I know something like it went around my daughters school but not to this degree!
I hope they get a handle on it, we are planning to go first week in Feb. I really hope it is gone by then.:scared1:

We were there in Dec. from the 14-20. People on both sides of us were up all night throwing up. Thin walls at Pop! :scared1:

We saw 2 people doubled over in the bushes going into Epcot.

I just made sure we used lots of Purell and gave the room a quick spray with Lysol. And none of us got sick. I figured sharing the air with our neighbors on both sides would doom us but we were fine! :thumbsup2

We were there from Dec. 20-24 and Dec. 29-Jan 3. I purposely looked for sick people while in the sometimes very crowded parks and found surprisingly few people coughing, sneezing, etc. All in all, people seemed healthy and in good spirits. We were very relieved to notice this after reading the start of this thread before we left for vacation.

Relax, wash your hands, bring antibacterial wipes and enjoy your vacations!;)

We were there both before Christmas (at CBR) and on New Year's eve at POP and I never saw anyone getting sick but at POP I did see a woman buying both pepto bismol and imodium. We didn't get sick, never did any extra cleaning and used our hand wipes before eating like always.

I wish everyone well. We'll be back again next weekend and we'll see what's happening then.

we were at WDW last Sept. & 2 of the 3 ppl in our family got this stomach bug.
it was horrible, i knelt on the bathroom floor in our AKL room and honestly thought i'd have to call 911. i don't remember ever being so violently ill.

someone i work with visited WDW at Thanksgiving and all 4 ppl in his party got it as well, same symptoms.

lousy way to spend your vacation!
