Be aware if traveling to WDW within the next few days

Sorry to hear about
index.php

Haven't read the whole thread, but wondering if this is still going around WDW?

Got home yesterday. We were vigilant with washing our hands, using Purell, etc. I'm sick as a dog today. At least I didn't get sick at Disney...

It happens. Tons of germs and people traveling from all over the world - tons of foreign visitors at the parks - and, golly gee whiz - were the parks ever PACKED for what used to be a quiet time.

I can't tell you how many people we'd see leaving the restrooms without washing their hands - just yucky.

We had a maid come into our room and scrub down the phone, sink, remote, and hairdryer one day. She said she was on light duty, but I guess it was to prevent the spread of germs.

I took like two showers a day, used hand sanitizer, and washed my hands, I'm a germaphobic @.@.

I was at the Dolphin with a friend from Dec 5th - 9th. We both were fine.

Just returned home Friday night from a trip Jan 3rd-9th. There were six of us at OKW and all of us were fine.

I spent a lot of time reading this thread and was really nervous. I bought the bleach wipes and scrubbed the room down when we got there. I put all the dishes and utensils in the dishwasher upon arrival and washed them on the hottest setting.

We range in age from 19-50 and everyone was using Purrell and washing thier hands until raw. We took precautions and were ok.

It's just the luck of the draw or for some, the unluck of the draw.

Do what you can do to keep your families healthy, but don't forget to have fun.

We were at POR from 12/31 to 1/9 (or at least part of our party left on 1/9).

My DD and I came down with a violent case of the virus on Thursday afternoon 1/8. Started with a scratchy throat and continued down to full fledged stomach pains and the rest...Since we drove from PA we had to send the boys ahead and my DD and I stayed another day in our room and flew back. Still today we are not perfect.

My DD and I witnessed a young child throwing up at one of the tables in the POR dining hall and told one of the employees about it, since the guests did not, and the employee couldn't understand a word of what we were trying to tell her. She went over to another employee to discuss it but nothing different was done to that table while we were there.

I fully pity the people that get our room after us...we left a note for mouskeeping and a good tip and made sure that the checkout desk was well aware of the virus germs in that room when we checked out so I hope they disinfected it good.

The worst was that we mustered all the energy up we could to walk Friday night for some crackers, jello, or italian ice for something to put in our stomachs but they do not sell those items in the "general store" and the dining hall smell was way off limits at that point, although I do not remember seeing anything like that there either.

So heres advice...if your going in the next few weeks pack a small travel box of crackers and a small box of jello....it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Just back with a group of 13. We were there from Jan 2nd-10th and our group included 5 kids ages 5 and under, including several toddlers who still put everything in their mouths. None of us got sick at all. Nor did we see or hear about any sickness in the parks or resort. (We were at CSR.) And, I'll say that we were NOT obsessive about hand sanitizer or anything like that. We washed after restroom trips, of course, and used sanitizer before eating snacks...but that's about it. We touched lots of handrails and lap bars on rides, ate at lots of buffets, used the comforter on the beds, and didn't spray down our room with lysol...and all lived to tell the tale!

Just returned from Disney with a group of 11 people 7 caught the virus, and thats with lysoling everthing we came in contact with. I carried the travel size lysol in my purse at all times. We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarters.

Sorry to hear this, but I'm not surprised as Lysol and alcohol don't do much against it. Bleach does, but I'm not aware of any bleach-based hand sanitizer. Not many people would want to use it anyway I'm sure. ;)

I'm leaving at the end of the month and all I can do is hope for the best. :)

I am so upset! My kids, of course are getting so excited about this trip. As luck would have it, it is the first time we have given them ANY advance warning because my daughter's health could have canceled plans at any time. Now we are so close to the end of treatment and we let thim in on our plans. If Julia gets sick we are in the hospital.... no room for error with her. I am so torn ..... :sad1: :scared:

I will pray that you all avoid the virus and stay well. I hope you and your family, especially your daughter, have a very magical trip and I hope you'll let us know how it went. Enjoy! :)

Hi, I hope your plans work out. I think I may know who your DD is based on your location...we bought the bracelets for Julia's rainbow last year at NTES. I have thought about her and wondered how she was...good to hear that she is nearing the end her treatment. Have you taken her to WDW before? She will love it! My DD is in 1st grade and we have been going every year since she was 3. We used to go in mid-December before she was in school. Last year we took her out for 3 days and went the week we had two days off in January, similar to next week and the next, when we'll have 3 days off here in Union County. It's a great time to go!

What a small world!! (No Disney pun intended!) Thank you so much for supporting us! Julia is in 1st grade also and is doing well. We have had each of the kids at WDW since they were babies. DVC has made that possible. Last May we went, though and had a horrendous trip. Little did we know J was so horribly ill that she ended up in PICU on a ventilator within a week of our return home. We came dangerously close to losing her ... you may remember the painted rock fiasco at NTES at that time. Anyway ... this is a "Do-over" of that trip! I KNOW it will be better ... if we can avoid the stomach bugs!!!

for the person asking about how long the virus will last...if it is in fact the norwalk virus that is going around, then it may be several months so you might as well go and try to make as many precautions as possible and have a great time.

:rotfl: :dance3: This Thread is spreading like a virus...over 38,000 views!:scared1: That's just crazy:dance3:

Ugg! We have this (or something like it) now and we leave on Saturday. We all have a headache/chills/aches but has ranged from only severe stomach cramps to diarrhea or vomitting or both in the rest of us. It's almost as if we all have something different. I guess it depends on your immune system defenses. Do you think we'll be ok to go by Saturday and if so will we be spared from this while we are there?

um what was your room number?

been here a week, staying for another.....not sick yet and no precautions other than purell on hands after ride/before food ......
viruses exist-don't worry overmuch over something you read on the 'net or you'll never go anywhere!;)
the exception of course is those with compromised immune systems, those folks have to be more careful anyway.....
.....but we've been here with thousands of others and haven't seen any terrifying illnesses yet....oh wait,my sis did cough yesterday......uh-oh.....:rotfl:
of course,we could pick something up,but that's just life....

we were there 12-19 and DD caught it. we changed our plans around so that she could rest and it was the best thing we did. although people plan their trips for months, it is important to be flexible and realize that if someone isn't feeling well-- going into the park isn't going to make them feel better.
Fortunately only 2 out of 5 in our party got it.
Fun fun.
