BCV-my opinion

Forgive me, but who cares how someone evaluates a hotel in which he has never stayed? The most that can be said is: "Some people have posted negative experiences...it seems more at the BVC than elsewhere in DVC." Not a big deal to me.
By the way, I have stayed at BVC three trips for a total of 27 days, and I love it! Sandie

I think that people, no matter how many resorts they try, have a favorite that feels like "home" to them (no matter where they own) and because of this, tend to look at the other resorts with a more critical eye. I know this to be true for myself. BW is my favorite (before DVC we always stayed at BWI) and even the GF couldn't please me and I really can't get excited about staying anywhere else.

Even though I own the majority of my points at BCV, I have never stayed there and am really not itching to try. Sure, it might have a little something to do with all the negative reports, but moreso about my attchment to BWV.

"There is one common thing that does trouble me and this has been true over the years(it used to be a lot worse) is that you can not post negative posts without someone sooner or later making some personal attack, instead of addressing the problems."

Yea that can be troubling. Its best to just keep the negative posts to yourself right?

"One post stated that I do not like BCV, well he has got that right. "

"I would never stay there because I do not stay in places that I know have problems. "

" I must tell you I wonder about people that think what is going on at BCV is ok, well it is not"

"AT BCV you are not getting it."

"There appears to be little effort to give the guest what they deserve either."

"I think they have your money and they could care less about the product they but out over there. "

I think it's partly a matter of tone.

When a posting has the "I'm right, things are terrible, if you disagree then there's something wrong with you" tone, especially if it's supported by surprisingly little first-hand experience, then people are not only likely but entitled to take offense.

I've never stayed there, but a recent thread, (Best DVC resort for pre-teen boys.., has almost talked me into trying BCV next year, to enjoy a week at SAB.

I'm sorry, but there is no statistical relevance to the polls and negative reports on this board. Fun to read? Yes. Informative? Perhaps. Representative of a typical stay? No.

On average... we have no hard facts to properly assess the quality performance of any of the DVC resorts. I have no reason to believe that Disney performance and quality standards at BCV are any different than any of the other resort... It would make no logical sense for BCV to be different. IMO, based on my many trips over the years, Disney's reputation for consistant quality and customer service excellence, across all of their WDW operations is holding strong.

I have been on these boards since 1997 and nothing surprises me. There is one common thing that does trouble me and this has been true over the years(it used to be a lot worse) is that you can not post negative posts without someone sooner or later making some personal attack, instead of addressing the problems. Now the subject of BCV has come up with many posters giving negative experiences regarding the rooms, front desk treatment, the management, etc. One post stated that I do not like BCV, well he has got that right. I would never stay there because I do not stay in places that I know have problems. The poster than asks what problems and wants me to tell him--well where has he been the last couple of months or for the last year for that matter. The majority of negative reports have come from BCV, most are things that should never happen in a place that charges what they do for rooms. In fact a lot of the things should not happen anywhere. I try to stay in only the best places whenever possible and I am willing to pay for the best, but I must tell you I wonder about people that think what is going on at BCV is ok, well it is not, the prices for a normal room at BCV run from 294 to 459 (a studio) per night, when you pay for a room that is 356 square feet that kind of price you should get nothing but the best. AT BCV you are not getting it. There appears to be little effort to give the guest what they deserve either. These various complaints about BCV have been going on for a least a year. I think they have your money and they could care less about the product they but out over there. I have nothing to go on but the reports that keep coming in about the place--none of these things should be happening.

I just received a survey post card after our first vacation at BCV. I’m going to give them high marks because we didn’t experience one problem during our stay. You should really give BCV a try before condemning the resort.

We also pool hopped at the Poly and the kids had a great time. Give it a try, first hand knowledge is a wonderful thing.

OK I am new have not stayed at any resort. home is SSR want get to even see it till 0604 2005 but Im so excited by the positive post on all the dvc resorts and love wdw, even if my toilet runs over roaches crawl on me trash piles up no towels pool to crowded a scratch on my bed post bathroom fan going off all nite rude people making to much noise, My dw and I are going to have a blast we are thankfull that we were blessed with being able to afford DVC and we are going to enjoy.:Pinkbounc :bounce:  :wave2:

Let's also not forget the fact that you are hurting people's feelings! Would you walk into someone's home and make hurtful comments about it to them? This is, in a way the same thing - people have invested their hard earned money (by choice) and are proud to say that their home resort is BCV! I had heard of DVC (when it was only OKW) and didn't understand why anyone would ever only want to go to Disney on vacation. I truly believe that there was a higher calling when we were offered the invitation to come check out what DVC is about (during sales of BCV). It was just meant to be! It's our home and I'm proud of it so just don't come visit me if you don't like where I live!

I posted this on an old thread, but I think it should be here too.

We have been members for over 11 years and have 3 WDW home resorts. We have many stays at all the on site resorts except only 1 at SSR so far. And IMHO BCV is no better or worse than any of the other resorts for room condition. Sometimes you hit a room with a problem, though that is very rare. And a call to HK will usually resolve the issue in a short time.

Things break around my regular home, light bulbs burn out, everything shows ware as it gets older, why do you expect any DVC to be different. They can't fix it if they don't know about it, so don't just post your problems here, let the resort know.

Just be happy we are members and can go as often as we do. If you see a problem call and get it fixed so you and the next visitor don't have to complain about it here.

WE ARE the OWNERS, we have to assume some of the responsibility for the conditions there also.

JMHO Have a nice day.

Sorry could not resist! But I agree with you!

I read the posts and take each comment with a grain of salt.

I have been lucky to get a week at BCV after Christmas and both DD and I are looking forward to it! I will form my own opinion after I have stayed there and will post the Good with the Bad. Ka Sera Sera!

Tim, I agree with your assessment! The number of DVC members who post on this board and take the polls is a TINY percentage of the total number of DVC members. So a few hundred people taking a informal poll at a certain point in time does not accurately reflect the overall DVC experience! As you say, they can be fun to read but I wouldn't base my resort decision on these polls!!

During the past couple years, we've stayed at BCV 5 trips, BWV once, and once at OKW. OKW was great. BWV was fine. Never had a problem at BCV until the last trip- we had a small leak in the kitchen sink, that dripped into the cabinet below and got the carpet wet. It was taken care of immediately. Still our favorite DVC resort!

If that one little problem would be enough for someone to avoid the resort in the future, so be it. But NOT ME! Guess where our ressies are for October and December?

I love walking "home" from EPCOT at night! For us, "Home" really IS, where the heart is...

Why do some take offense when someone has a bad experience and feels a need to express it and then have the urge to attack.

Some of the posts come across as everything (based on their experience) is perfect. While some (based on their experience) know that everything is not perfect.

Hopefully those having bad experiences are following up with BC and BCV managements.

To those with bad experiences, here's hoping for better stays (as they will be) in the future.

To those with a perfect excellent track record...your turn is coming. After all nothing man makes or does is perfect. (if it is really bad please post it.)

Why do some take offense when someone has a bad experience and feels a need to express it and then have the urge to attack.

I think the problem has more to do with times when someone has NO experience and feels a need to express very negative comments while shaming anyone who disagrees.

Jeez.

A couple of thoughts come to mind here.

1. Obviously, everyone is entitled not just to an opinion, but also to the right to express said opinion -- as long as the aforementioned expression does not strain the bounds of politeness. When it comes to politeness, tone is important.

2. I always find more useful opinions that have some informational bent to them. In this regard, the post that started this thread is not what I'd personally deem useful.

3. Most, if not all, of us are very much aware of PaOKW's opinions about BCV.

4. Is there really anything more that needs to be said about this? Hasn't it been covered ad nauseam?

The noise-to-signal ratio from Pa@okw95 has been extraordinarily high lately.

First, I'm a low-life because I've stayed at the All-Stars. Now I'm a moron because I've stayed at BCV and not only felt like I've gotten my money's worth, but actually enjoyed it!

So I guess that the only way to get in the good graces of Pa@okw95 is to buy into OKW.

Wow! A lot can happen when you're away from the boards for a few hours. I was the one who specifically took Pa@okw95 to task by compiling some previous quotes, and noting that he had apparently never stayed there.

The thread is located here:

Beach club

In the interest of full disclosure, I purchased BCV, but have never visited. I've not been to Disney in five years, so nearly all my knowledge comes from this board and TUG. I bought directly from Disney, and BCV was the only resort they were offering at the time.

I've read through this thread twice, and I've counted over 30 trip reports where people were satisfied with BCV and zero (including Pa@okw95, who apparently has never been there) where people were dissatisfied.

Surely by now another anti-BCV person should have surfaced. I think this should lay this issue to rest.

I've heard a few legitimate concerns about BCV. ("Spiceycat" has some interesting thoughts in the thread I referenced.) I hope that those of you who have actually stayed at all the resorts will continue to enlighten us.

I am not trying to defend a resort I've never visited. I'm here to learn. But my education can never be better than the source material! If any of you have negative thoughts about BCV, PLEASE share them.

But it would be nice if our names automatically hyperlinked to all our previous posts. I've started the habit of taking any unusually negative or strange post, and typing the poster's name into the "search" function to see what else they've been saying. It's been very illuminating.

The next time someone innocently asks a question about negative BCV reports, one of you should link them to this thread.

As for me and Pa@okw95, we'll be staying at a BCV studio together soon with three of our friends (yep, party of five). If you don't see us there, we'll be pool-hopping over to the Poly during peak hours at MK.

Thank you very much for seeing this logically, which the OP refuses to do. Just because the BCV is receiving more complaints on this forum at this particular time does not mean that the BCV receives more complaints than any DVC resort. It simply means at this particular time more are being posted here. There is absolutely nothing scientific about the results of any poll here or the complaints given.

Actually due to the size of OKW, it receives more complaints than any other DVC resort simply due to the fact that more people stay there, more units, etc.

What I simply do not understand and really wish the OP would address is this, if you have never stayed there and never intend to, why do you even care to comment about the BCV.

We have stayed at BCV, HHI, VB, and OKW resorts. Twice at BCV and this resort is by far the best in our opinion. As a matter of fact, the only 2 DVC resorts that have the AAA four diamond award at WDW are BCV and BWV.

This tells me two things.

1. LOL - You can't POSSIBLY get out much then, because NO PLACE, ANYWHERE is free of problems. Since you say you travel extensively, I see a contradiction here...

2. You enjoy passing judgement on places you haven't even stayed, and then don't like being judged yourself!

I find that negative posts receive the response they typically deserve. If someone posts in a manner that is found by many to be offensive, arrogant and judgemental, then yes, I find that many DIS'ers let them know it isn't appreciated. And while there will always be those that seem to think Disney can do no wrong, I've seen tons of support for posters that don't act like the world owes them something.

Yes - Presentation is a BIG factor in how criticism is received. I happen to be a BIG believer in constructive criticism, and following through on problems to correct them at the source. And if I ever have any problems at BCV (or ANY resort) I'll be right there working to get it fixed.

We have enjoyed two wonderful stays at BCV, and I look forward to returning there in December. I could stoop to the level of listing all MY perceived criticisms of OKW - but I'll save that judgement until after I have the pleasure of actually staying there so I can make my own EDUCATED decisions. I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Beautifully put. I was thinking I'd like to respond to the original post but this particular post reflects my feelings exactly. Thanks for posting.
