Bathing Suit Question for the Ladies

I have never owned a bikini. I think too many of them are too revealing, but I would like to get one for my trip this year. Unfortunately, I can not find any that fit. What do other top heavy girls do? Is there a company that is top heavy friendly? I've tried on a number of different kinds, but none have fit my top. All suggestions welcome.

By the way, feel free to move this if it is in the wrong place.

What about a tankini? It's a two piece but it's a tank on the top and then they have all sorts of styles of bottoms to choose from. I've seen shorts, low cut and high cut bottoms and even skirts to choose from.

I just bought one of those for Hawaii. Its great! Its shorts on the bottom (hides the thighs) and a long tank top that does not mold to my....... ahhhhhhhhhh, curves and does not emphasize the size of my (as the 3 year old says) b00bies!

Have you tried Newport News? They have an online shop and are great with returns if it does not fit.

Lands End has lots of suits that are 2 pieces, but are still a bit modest.

As a fellow top heavy girl, I have to say that most tankinis don't offer enough support. though I did find one last year that did, it was made of that faille material, similar to the Land's End line, but it was from Dillards from a line called Judith Hart. I have not seen them at Dillards yet this year, but the Lands End one are just like them.

I had the same problem as you, and never had a bikini until last year. I found one at Goody's, and the brand was Baltex (they do have a website as well). They do mix and match separates, the top I got was cut just like a comfortable bra. It has underwire, and enough material so I'm not bulging out the top or sides. So I will actually wear it.

Anyway. I'd search for something like that, or maybe in a halter style, but the underwire helps a lot.

I'm working on getting a bikini that fits me. I found this website: www.aerinrose.com that has some CUTE suits for top heavy ladies like ourselves. Downside? A bit on the pricey side. Though I think it's worth it, if it fits!

I am fairly top heavy and I love the tankinis. Also when my body was more "in shape" I would just buy the separates and get a size bigger for the top than the bottom. Really though, true bikinis never offered coverage and support for me. I look at the ones out now and no way would they work... larger sizes don't necessarily mean correct coverage for anything over an average cup size. I don't know how big you are but you might look into Victoria's Secret as well. They have some that are made for your cup size and will go up to a 38DD now.

In my experience, there is no bathing suit company that caters to top-heavy women. You can buy suits with the top bigger than this the bottom, but they're still made for the same cup size. I wish there were a better option out there. I find that I have to wear suits with just the lining in the bust. The underwires and the molded cups are made for women much smaller. I have no idea what I'm going to do this summer. Between being pregnant and nursing, I'm currently in between a 34H and I. I think I'll have to have a suit custom made.

Bravissimo (http://www.bravissimo.com) makes fantastic swimsuits for cup sizes D-F (and sometimes G and H).

They also make button up shirts for more, um, ****ular gals. I love mine -- no button gaping, ever, from a shirt in my normal size.

Do you have a Water Water Everywhere store at a Mall near you? They are awesome! You pretty much buy everything mix and match. They also have up to very large sizes in their stores, not just tinkerbell sizes like some bathing suit stores.

I must admit, however, that I am biased a bit! My best friend works for this company. She has worked several name brand retail chains and says that this it the most please to work for.

I am not sure if they have a website or not, but it might be worth a look to see! Good luck!

Some of the better department stores sell tops and bottoms separately so we can get a size 8 bottom and a 36 D top if that is what you need.

OK, I like this site but the prices are not in US dollars and I have No idea how to convert so I don't have a clue what the prices are. Can anyone help?

Went to Lands End, they do not have sizing by cup size so they're out for me. Anybody else know of other sites for these tankinis that sell by cup size?

Using yesterday's rates on one site, 1 british pound is worth $1.64. So, that suit that costs 50 pounds will run you $82 plus shipping and taxes if applicable. Rates change daily/hourly. Your credit card company will use whatever rate is in effect when the order is processed...but generally it's been running $1.60 to $1.70 per pound...
