Bare Minerals vs Major Brands Mineral Makeup

I got my everyday minerals today and the southern magnolia samples on Saturday. At this point, I can't really tell if it's working for me without the proper brushes. What kind of brushes is everyone using? Is there something I can pick up at Walmart or CVS that someone can recommend?

Also, like a pp asked, I am interested in knowing what the mineral veil is as well.

Brush - Sonja (something) as Target - its a Target exclusive brand, makes reasonably priced, good brushes. Get a nice big fluffy one (Kabuki)

OK, I ordered a some product from EM. I had ordered a sample set a few years ago, but the colors were all wrong for me, so I stayed with Physician's Formula, then Loreal.

I ordered Intensive Cool Fair, two eye colors, and a lip gloss, I think.

Y'all inspired me to get another EM sample order- I have been mixing foundation colors together to come up with a shade good for me, but I'd like to be able to find one that works without having to add anything. I have light/med skintone that has lots of pink undertones- I am going to try Cool Medium, Fairly Light Beige, and Sunkissed Fair Beige.

I also found a company on ebay that sells empty sifter jars that are clear with clear lids, so I got a bunch- I am going to transfer my mini eye shadows and mini blushes to them, so it will be easy to see the colors inside.

Mine came today!!

I ordered the free kit, and the other $30 kit to have lots of colors to try. The gal at Everyday Minerals gave me some suggestions for colors (via e-mail and a pic), and hers were actually the ones that worked best for me - Light Medium, Medium and Multi-tasking. So far I like them, but I'll have to try them on a fresh face tomorrow.

OK - you young things - you didn't tell me that the famed "Chit Chat" blush has sparkles in it! Girls - I am too old for sparkles!

I think I like the multi tasking the best! I usually use bronzer, and I think im going to need to order a slightly darker color next time. May have to try another round of samples! I love the way it looks though! The first time applying I just kinda tested them all out at once and the end result looked good. I have the apple blush, and I like it a lot, but I want to get a more peachy color for the warmer weather. I also need to get more brushes. I'm going to ask for one of the custom kits for my birthday.

Finally tried mine last evening and today. So far I LOVE it! My blush color is completely wrong so I'll have to try a different color.

Does anyone use the eyeliner? How does it compare to liquid liner?

I always use eyeshadow as my eyeliner. It looks so natural looking.

The other year I went to have a picture taken for on my business cards, the photographer asked who did my makeup. I told him I did it myself and it said it looked so pretty & natural looking and said not many people know to use eyeshadow for liner (I didn't tell him I did that). I was so happy with myself. It's actually the best photo I have ever taken.

I just ordered the small EM kit with their shimmer eye colors so I'm anxious to try them.

The blush that I didn't like was B&B. It's a little orangy on me and too dark. I just totally picked the wrong color. I'm going to order chit chat.

I got my order and none of the colors I picked were right. I am just a tad to light on all the foundations and went way to pink on the blush. I do like the concealer I choose though. I also love the "under eyes" concealer and lavender cream stuff I bought. I will be trying out another sample kit to see if I can get the right shades.

I am hooked on EM. Just ordered another kit last night. I got the Personal Custom Kit with the Pick Me Up pink concealer, Theme Park blush, Nick Nack blush, foundation, Copper lip color and finishing dust. I am hooked.

I love the Pick me Up Pink powder, makes my skin look fantastic. I may never go back to liquid makeup again.
