Please describe what we can expect at this port. How did you get from your hotel to the port? We like to get there real early, would you suggest this?

Taxi to the port.

The city us close but not close enough to, the port is at the southern tip of the city but in a Long Island off if the city and so you need a taxi, taxis are regulated and easy to get at anytime and also any size.

When you say get there early, I say not before 10 am, the terminal will not open till exactly 10.30 am, you can queue outside, part of it is sheltered, but it's likely to be very very hit there, do not go too early, and it doesn't take long to get there.

When it opens there are plenty of check in desks in an open hanger style building, not a lot there. Check in is fast, but you will not start to go on until 11.30 am, boarding us by boarding card issued at check in, so actually little point turning up early, you set yourself up for an hours wait.

In last years a walkway grudge from the terminal building to the ship was added, in the last you entered by deck 2, now it's like port Canaveral you walk to the atrium. Therefore it's fast and by boarding card you get on very quick.

I have used pre booked taxis and on demand taxis, booked by my hotel, the on demand taxis were always better, they were there quick and pre booked let yes down more than once.

Public transport is great around the city and to and from the airport but due to where the port terminal is over a long bridge then a long pier, you need a taxi.

We stayed at The Hotel Jazz a great hotel, modern rooms, rooftop pool, close to the central Hub of the city. From there is was ten minutes to the ship. DCL hotels are often out if the city to the east side and further from the centre and port.

We bought T10 tickets for the metro for our few days before the cruise, and then on the embarkation morning we took our bags on the Metro to the Green - Drassasnes stop, and then took the Blue T3 PortBus to the ship. We will do that again next month.

The port checkin area has a few shops - one like souvenir shop, 1 selling wine and spirits and one selling duty free items. Not sure how the alcohol works now they have the new rules in place as only cruised before they stopped allowing you spirits.

They also have photo spots set up like in Port Canaveral for your welcome aboard photo. I didn't spot any characters in the port area last year though so not sure they do any. They did have desks for signing up the kids to the clubs there though.

I've taken the WBTA twice and the first time (2010) I took a taxi from my hotel to the port. It was staying at a hotel on La Rambla in Barcelona and the drive was fast and convenient. The advantage to taking a taxi was that I was able to enjoy Barcelona a little longer before I left for the port. On my second trip (2014) I joined a group of Disboard members who and chipped in for a bus from planned meeting point in Barcelona (about three blocks from my hotel) to the port. It was inexpensive, well planned and everything worked out great.

Yes, this is what I remember in 2007. Very open area with shops and check in. We lucked out and ran into Minnie in her Flamenco dress and the pic of her and my daughter is priceless.

We've sailed from Barcelona twice in 2011 and 2014. Both time we took a taxi to the port cost around €25. Second time we left the hotel a little early so had to queue outside as Disney fantasy indicated. I took this picture in the queue.image.jpeg

Both times there were character meetings in the terminal. Once you have your welcome aboard picture taken you go up an escalator to the gangway image.jpeg

Just got back from the 12-night Med cruise, and stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Del Mar pre-cruise. I had booked it myself, but it was one of the hotels that Disney used for people that booked through them. They had a table set up in the lobby during the day. They recommeded that since it was just my wife and I, it would be cheaper for us to just take a taxi, rather that book a transfer through Disney. We ended up booking a transfer that included a bus trip to the monastery at Montserrat before taking us to the port.

We loved Montserrat. Hope you had a great time and great weather.
