I just wanted to say thanks to DISBoards and all of you for the advice you offer.
I made a mistake with banking deadlines this year and I had just over a quarter of our annual points that could not be banked.
I was in the process of renting those points to another member and transferring them back in July when the "new" rule about transfers was put in place so that was nixed by Disney.
I have been very busy, so I hadn't been able to re-rent the points and was facing the loss of them next week (we have an October use year).
Friday I logged on to see if there was anyone looking for last minute reservations that I might be able to rent to, and I stumbled across a thread about the "one time exemption" to banking rules. I decided to give it a try, since we really could use the points - we have a big trip planned for February and friends of ours have decided they would like to come along as well.
Yesterday I called member services, politely explained my situation and after a brief stay on hold, they came back and told me that the points would be banked to next year. With all of 4 days to spare before they expired.
Because I was at the 0% banking range, they could only go back one increment - to the 25% limit, so I did lose 2 points, but that is MUCH better than I was.
I've been reading these boards for YEARS - but for some reason in my own situation of facing expiring points, I had totally forgotten the option to use the one-time exception until I checked here.
Thanks again.
Ted
