Banked 2011 points...when can I use them?

Hi everyone,

We are waiting to hear back on ROFR on a contract that has 2011 points banked with a December use year. If all goes smoothly, I hope we'll be in the system sometime in September. Can I only make reservations for travel beginning on or after December 1, 2012 using the banked 2011 points? Or could we travel as soon as we are in the system on the banked points if I can find availability?

dec 2011 UY pts are valid for stays from dec 1, 2011 through nov 30, 2012.

if those 2011 pts are banked, then they are valid for stays from dec 1, 2012 through nov 30, 2013.

banking and borrowing are "final" transactions, so once the pts are banked into the 2012 UY, that's where they have to be used (or else expire.) you cannot "borrow" those banked 2011 pts back into 2011 in any way.

but you can borrow current pts from your 2012 UY to use in your 2011 UY...so that is an option...but remember that those pts will be stuck in 2011 if plans change and expire on nov 30, 2012 if you haven't used them for a stay prior to that.

You should confirm that those points are in fact Dec 2011 points that have been banked, which means they are good for a trip that occurs after Nov 30, 2012, rather than Dec 2010 points that were banked into the Dec 2011 use year, in which case they must be used for a trip that ends before Nov 30, 2012.

Great advice to double check. Our contract states that the banked points expire 11/30/2013. Would I be able to tell once I get an online account? Would it be faster to call into Member Services?
