My family and i are going on our fist trip to Orlando in May.
Question - in the Disney parks can you take a bag with you to the rides and leave it as you go on a ride or do you have to leave it in the lockers at the main gates ?
I am thinking of cammeras, camcorders etc which I would like to have wilst walking around the park ?
Any advice would be good

Disney rides are fine to carry things on, though other parks sometimes have lockers outside rides to put your bags in. On water rides you will need to put your cameras in something waterproof for protection. I have an aquapac which fully protects my camera from water. The Disney rides are not too bad for water but if you go to IoA you will get soaked so it is wise to protect your valuables.

:flower: We usually take a small backpack into the parks with us and I don't recall ever not being able to take it on any rides with us. Some rides offer a place to stow your belongings. Other times DH will just keep it on the floor between his legs. Now if your bag is extreme in size, maybe you will have a problem. You will need to have all bags, purses, camera cases, etc searched as you enter the Disney Parks.. They has been done this since 9/11 but is is usually a very quick process.

Hope this helps! Enjoy!

On Kali River Rapids, it's a good idea to have something waterproof to put your stuff in. We took a garbage bag and actually put all of our shoes in it also. I know, a little obsessive, but we had dry shoes and many others on the ride had very wet feet. Make sure to stow stuff on tower of terror. I had a bag slung across my chest which had a water bottle holder. Well, my unopened bottle of water was gone, never to be seen agian after that ride. There are mesh holders under the seats to stow stuff in. Mission space had a place that you have to stow your stuff in. I had my bag slung across my chest for all other rides and never had a problem (TT, RNRC, SM...)

Have a good trip...........

we took our backpack on all the rides. ToT, RnR, etc. if there isn't a holding place for them (mesh bags like on dinosaur) when placing it at your feet, just slip one leg through a strap to keep it in place. oh and on SMtn. whoever has the backpack should sit in front as there is more room at your feet.

My reply to this is just to consider that anythign you carry, you will pretty much have to carry all day, which gets very heavy as the day wears on. Having said that, we try to limit the things we carry. The lighter your bag is, the better. Kali River Rapids does have a bin that you can put your stuff in which has a lid on it. It isn't 100% waterproof, but if your camera is in a bag, it shoud be okay. We put our shoes in the bin, minus the extra trash bag, and have never had a problem. We had more of a problem with us getting drenched. Wearing a swimsuit under your clothes that day is a good idea - especially for the ladies (as opposed to a white t-shirt, if you catch my drift). I myself am in the process of searchign for a light weight backpack style purse for my upcoming trip.

We're also going for the first time in May! :cool1:

Thankfully my husband will be holding our bag a lot. He gets sick on many rides so he opts to be the "holder of belongings". There will still be some he will ride and it's good to know we can take our soft-sided cooler with us. Target had several from which to choose, but I never did find a backpack cooler and I looked at many stores.

Your responses have all been very helpfull. Any further advice for us as first timmers would be helpfull.
