Call it either way. We had 3 check ins.

BWV one night stay, arrived around 1 on a Saturday afternoon, and room not ready. Wasn't ready until sometime after 4:30, but we got $100 room credit!

VB, well, this was a no problem stay! We had a BC and 2 OVIR's. We didn't arrive until after 4, and everything was ready and perfect! We had the Loggerhead BC and it was excellent! However, DGD, 5 years, lost her first tooth! CM brought over a Piglet stuffed animal and a photograph of Goofy from the tooth fairy!

We arrived at BCV around 2, room wasn't ready. We got the text that it was ready around 3:30, but then they called our HOME phone to say that it was a mistake. Of course we didn't know it wasn't ready and we went up. From the looks of the villa, it had been trashed, and there were 2-3 CM's working on it and they were very apologetic. When the villa was finished, a basket of chocolate treats was delivered to our room. The only evidence of the "trashing"left was if you looked at the TV screen in the living room from the side, there appeared to be words on it, sort of written on with a finger. Since this was a dedicated 2 bedroom with 2 queens, the damage had to be done by a member or a renter from a member, as far as I understand the booking of these units.

We had a great vacation, and the best money I spent was for the "Dessert Party" for the fireworks that we did on July 3rd. We had a reserved table for 9 people, and the choice of and quantity of desserts was excellent. My favorite was the chocolate covered strawberries, but there was also a variety of tarts, fruit, cream brulee, chocolate things, and cheesecakes. The July 3rd fireworks at MK are the ones they have for the 4th of July holiday and there was excellent viewing from the pavillion. OK...maybe not everyone would consider it "excellent" because there were lots that went up 180 degrees and we didn't see the ones that would show up behind our building, but all of us were more than satisfied and were so glad not to be with the crowd outside. The area was air cooled as well. It was not a grossly sticky hot day, but we were much more comfortable to be in the seated area. I think the price was around $30 adults, $15 children. They charged the credit card when I booked, so I don't have the number right at hand.

PS. It's my DDiL who handled the check ins. She has excellent luck with getting freebies. On this family's very first "solo" visit, they all received free park tickets to Epcot. Don't know what it is about her, but CM's seem to love to give her things!:goodvibes

i say pixie dust! Bobbie i would consider that it could've been bad luck but the pixie dust intervened. I know that you or your DDil just went and told them nicely what was going on and they corrected the issues. i would like to try the dessert party some time. Hopefully, i'll be able to talk my family into it soon. Sounds like a wonderful trip even with a few hiccups.

I'm confused. Isn't check in after 4?? Do tell me if it's earlier, as I am just leaving BLT for Kidani village and if we can get in earlier, we can watch the soccer game from our room.

You can "check in" anytime that day, but your room may not be ready. We've found that 1/2 of the time our villas have been ready before 4PM. Plus, by checking in early you have access to the pool and the facilities of the resort.

Last summer, our rooms were all ready way before 4:00 pm (luck for the first time DVC stay I guess!!!).

We checked in to BWV at 12:00 pm (ready), BLT at 8:30 am (ready), and VWL at 8:30 am (not ready--but got the text it was at 1:30 pm).

So, go and check in and you might get lucky!!!

Great pixiedust, I say!!! Just curious, why did they give you the $100 room credit at BWV?

I do not know except that the room wasn't ready at 4, and DDiL went up to ask around 4:30 if it was ready. The message was to be sent to DS's phone, he was still at the pool with DGS, so she was just checking after taking the DGDs to the rest room on the far side of the lobby at BWV. It seemed too good to be true, but sure enough the credit was there when we got the bill.

Well I say this was definitely pixie dust because someone as nice as Bobbi deserves it! :goodvibes Glad you had a great trip, Bobbi. I know how much you love the BCs at VB.

Some magic moments in there for sure! That was nice that they did something special for your DGD losing her first tooth.....she'll definitely never forget it :goodvibes.

Bobbi, what is the cost of the dessert party? Can you book that online like a regular ADR or do you have to call directly? I've heard people mention it here and there but I never really considered it.

Lastly....it is pretty sad what people do to the villas. Can DVC impose extra charges for units left in such bad shape?? Sad to say, but if it was a renter the member would be on the hook for those charges (then maybe they could keep some type of security deposit if there is one). I would hate to think that the general membership fees are used for trashed rooms.

Would you consider loaning us your DDiL on our next visit. We will just stand back and let her check us in. :thumbsup2

Was that the dessert party at Epcot or Magic Kingdom? Just curious.

It's at the MK,and you are in an area that's sort of in front of the Noodle Station. If Tink were flying, she would be right overhead.

I zeroed in on your description of the trashed room. Might explain why a few things could be overlooked, if two mousekeepers need to clean multiple trashed rooms per day. I wish DVC could charge those people for the extra work on behalf of all the other members. This also puts a late room availability into erspective. Rather have a late room than signs opf the previous occupants (esecially if they trashed the place).
