Never again at the Big River Grill for my family either. We are DVC and stay at the Boardwalk. We have on several occasions popped into the BRG for chow on arrival day, because it is convenient.

The last time we were there we saw that the kitchen staff was using bags of generic tortilla chips -- looked like they had bought them at the cannery outlet store or something similar. That explained why our "chips and salsa" chips were so stale, unappealing and, well... generic.

That experience also serves as an example of the food there: Unappealing and, well... generic.

..so many of the restaurants mentioned as the worst are my favorites. Ie: Prime Time, Hoop de Do, Sci Fi, BOMA (YUMMY) Jiko and perhaps my favorite Akershus. However, If I were to pick a vile meal Hollywood and Vine was awful!!!. We had picked it because it was on the Fantasmic meal plan (is that still in existence?) and had already tried MM and Brown Derby (loved Brown Derby) The food selection was OK but clearly the food preparation was not! Never again! Also...think that Ohana is just average!

The coral reef is my #1 and then following is all the fast food areas
very overpriced and the food was lousy!!!!

Beaches and Cream was the worst food I have ever eaten in my whole life - disgusting and inedible with Akershus being the absolute best!

I totally agree. Everything was bland. My poor parents, who love buffets, were searching and searching for something they could eat. Nothing had flavor. I suppose that is authentic food, but it's not for me.

I hated this food, this is not authentic. I grew up eating Norwegian food , and it is really good if cooked properly.

We didnt like LTT, we won't be going back. The food was bland and cold meat when we got it. Our server said 3x he was coming back with drink refills and never did. We gave up before dessert so we could get out of there, it had been an hour and a half for pre portioned foods. Mac and cheese was the best thing there because we usually make dd the cheap Kraft stuff at home. Pluto was great and dd doesnt even remember meeting Minnie (good thing I got it on film) as she was there for all of 5 seconds, and I mean in the whole dining room for 5 seconds. It was the worst interaction of all the character meals we did, except for Pluto. Pluto was great and spent time with each kid as far as we could see! Now if he can do it and personalized each kids experience why not a major character like minnie mouse?

We had almost exactly the same experience, and won't go back. My kids ran after Minnie, in fact, and came back upset because a CM "yelled" at them (turns out she just reprimanded them). She came over to explain that they couldn't run up behind a character as it wasn't safe. I said I understood, but would Minnie come back to our table, as they didn't really feel as if they'd got to "talk" with her. She did bring Minnie back. All the CMs at the front, and the other characters were beyond my expectations.........but with our waiter being so hands-off, the meat being cold, and my sons now having a negative feeling towards the place due to the reprimand (which again, I do understand) we won't go back. It was the one meal I had been very careful with, as it was our last one there, our Christmas dinner, and I was trying very hard to find a traditional dinner. I was disappointed. I had also wanted a traditional Christmas dessert and they didn't have one........thought they should on Christmas day, how hard is it to make pumpkin pie........and how perfect for a Liberty Tavern?

I also second Whispering Canyon Cafe........we weren't impressed.

We loved Coral Reef and Princess Storybook Breakfast, btw, though I noticed the Princess complaint was about dinner.

I'm not usually too hard to impress, but dinner at Chef Mickey's last week was BARF! The selection was pretty weak, and several things they did have out were picked over (like no lettuce on the salad bar). The hot items were cold and/or tasteless (Mickey ravioli, mashed potatoes, broccoli, mac and cheese).

The service was just OK, the characters came around a lot, the desserts were good, but I wouldn't pay $30 per person for it. No way. Crystal Palace was 10 times better.

See, and we have always loved this. We eat dinner between 7 and 8 on our arrival night every trip here.

I think a lot might be luck of the draw when you go, and sometimes, timing. On some threads, I've noticed that people who go at off times have worse experiences, than those who go just before, during and just after traditional hours.

I'd be interested in more detail about what people didn't like. for instance loads of people said they didn't like the food at akershus but didn't really say why... I'd like to know what people chose off the menu and why they didn't like it

We have eaten there and each time had a great experience. I hope for the same next month. Service equals food and when the service stinks, it is upsetting and takes away from the experience.

I agree about the Princess Storybook in Norway. The food was just gross, but the princess experience was nice.

While not "disgusting" or anything, I thought the food at Marrakesh was incredibly bland. It seemed way too Americanized. I have eaten at more authentic Moroccan restaurants and really enjoyed the food, the Disney version was disappointing.

I ate here once and the food was very dry! Everything sounded good, but it had no flavor at all.

To be fair to Akershus the last time I ate here was in the 90's. I grew up eating Norwegian food, and this did not have the same flavor, everything was really bland. My problem is when you know what it should taste like, Disney's food was a watered down version. Not sure how else to explain it. I also figured why pay for it when I can have my Grandma make the real thing for me!

I am concerned about the Coral Reef now, we are looking forward to going this summer... does anyone agree that its not that great??

We've enjoyed Coral Reef every time we have eaten there over the past 15 years or so. It's a unique experience.

I did not enjoy the food at Boma. Now let me say I do not enjoy eating red meat, poultry, or fish with any kind of sweetness to it. It seemed that most of the foods had some kind of sweet sauce on them. I believe I ate hummus, a piece of prime rib, some soup, and a zebra dome or two. If you enjoy the kinds of food they prepare, then I'd guess the food was good. I just didn't enjoy what they had to offer.

I didn't care for Boma either. Alot of the different foods had a similar taste to them- mainly cinnamon and/or cloves. I was not impressed at all.

I know I'm going to be alone in this review...but we just really didn't like California Grill.

We were there for our wedding night dinner. DH ordered the filet and I think he thought it was really kinda tough. I ordered some chicken thing and there was a spice in it that was really really bad.

We basically had drinks, and a pretty good appetizer and that's about it.

I think it was just a bit too "high class" for us. But it felt like we were being a bit rushed or something. The staff knew it was our wedding night but didn't seem to even notice. We were very confused about some of the items on the menu (didn't know what they were) and the waiter just seemed like he didn't want to take the time to explain it to us...made us feel kinda dumb.

We thought it was the biggest waste of money of our whole trip. Oh well...live and learn!!

Another vote for Hollywood and Vine. Noisy atmosphere, tacky theme, and overpriced, left-out-too-long cafeteria style food.

We do love the Coral Reef tho, and go there every trip.

It's amazing the different experiences and tastes--

We have always enjoyed Cape May-hope we feel the same in 2 weeks.

We did not like the restaurant in Norway or Mexico--it was awful and we waited over an hour!!

We also felt the coral Reef selection was poor and very over priced.

WE DIDN'T LIKE IT EITHER. VERY OVER PRICED AND WE DIDN'T LIKE ANYTHING ON THE MENU.
