This thread is so funny - it really illustrates how impossible it is to plan your dining based on the reviews on this (or any other) board. I enjoy reading the reviews, but here in this thread, for nearly every restaurant mentioned as "the worst" restaurant at WDW, you have someone else saying "that's our favorite restaurant, eaten there 10 times and will go back."
From my observations over many years on these boards, I think that there are two main reasons, other than if the food happens to be bad, why people are unhappy with a restaurant experience at WDW:
(1) Where people are from and what they are used to eating. So many people say that they don't like places like Boma because they are "picky" eaters and like more basic fare. Those people will rarely like places like Boma, Akersus and any place else that serves food that is more exotic or ethnic in nature.
(2) Cost relative to what they are used to paying. Many people who visit WDW come from the midwest or South of this country, where food, for the most part, is relatively inexpensive. I live in LA so prices at WDW restaurants does not send me into sticker shock, but not true for many people. People rip on a place like Tony's Towne Square, for example, mainly because they are in shock at having to pay $15 for a plate of average pasta. Again, fair criticism, but when you are at WDW, in my mind the fact that the food is "overpriced" should be taken as a GIVEN, and you assess restaurants accordingly. If I was going out to a local place for a very casual meal, would I want the prices to be as high or expect the food to be fairly average like Tony's? No. But at WDW, sitting inside the Magic Kingdom, you are paying a premium.
Just my 2 cents
