bad dinning reviews

Have to agree with Hoop Dee Doo Review. It was probably the most disappointing meal we had.

Le Ceiller in Canada. DH and I had made our ADR's on our honeymoon and our dinner time was at 4:30-5PM. We walked up and were told that our wait to be seated was 45 minutes. However, there were people who were getting up and being seated immediately. I went up and asked why and the wait person said that was just how they were doing it. So I said, then consider us a walk up and she said she could not, we said forget it.

The Akershus in Norway...We went for the PSB dinner and while the character interaction was WONDERFUL!! The food was disgusting. My kids wouldn't even eat it. We will never go back there.

A lot of people love the place and maybe it is just we don't have a very seasoned palette, or maybe we got them on a bad day I don't know but we will not give it a second chance!!!

I reiterate the question posted earlier. Was the food poorly prepared or did you just not care for it? I'm not a huge fan of fish, but would be anxious to try it as it is one of the few World restaurants I haven't been to yet (along with France).

Gotta chime in on Sci Fi, I agree, the cars are cool (although not with a 2 year old who thinks they are so cool she wants to play on them like a playground while you're trying to eat- parents of young one's think about it before you choose to dine here). Our 5 year old thought it was the coolest thing ever, but the food was gross!!! Good desert though!

Rose and Crown in the UK Pavillion in Epcot. It is nothing like real English food and the mashed potato i had there was the worst I have ever tasted.

The textture was like it had been put through a sieve and the taste was so bland - I swear it came out of a packet and wasnt made from real potatoes. Also in England our butter has salt in it so nothing made with butter tasted like it should.

I know some people love the place but don't eat there expecting to be eating English style.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo. Now it's been 2 years so my memory is a little distorted... but I'll try my best:

When you arrive they have like salad and bread on the table. YUMMMMMM

Then like an hour into the show they finally bring out the real food, the chicken, ribs, baked beans, corn... I don't remember the corn or the baked beans, but the chicken was a little on the greasy side (like it comes from KFC) and the ribs were good. So we ate the whole bucket of ribs, and waited like 30 min before a waitress came by, asked for more ribs, she brought them out... they we're cooked. I took a bite out of one, ICCKKK... then grabbed another in case it was just that one.. RAW.. EWWWW.. horrible. Plus the "character" guy who came around to us was really rude.. and I don't mean rude like he's supposed to be... like they do the "whose birthday is it in here" and go around the room and stuff like that. It was mine.. and he's like "whatever" and walked away. I dunno.. that was just part of it.
Then we left, and it was downpouring. We asked a cast member how to get back to our resort, he told us to go to the boat dock and wait. We waited in the freezing rain (it was 40 outside) for 25 min, no boat. GEE Maybe it was cuz the MK was closed. So then they said go wait for the bus. 45 min waiting for a bus. The Epcot bus came by like 2 times. Finally on the third Epcot bus came by and we asked if he'd take us to Epcot so we could catch our resort buses there. He had to call it in and ask, and said it was ok. So we finally got back to our room and I was so sick from testing them raw ribs and sitting in the rain. I was not happy.

That's a bummer. We did the hoop-de-doo last week (Sunday the 22nd). The show was great and the ribs and chicken were awesome. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Our server wasn't bad. I guess you can tell when a meal is pre-paid with the gratuity included versus one where the server has to earn my 15%-20%!

We didnt like LTT, we won't be going back. The food was bland and cold meat when we got it. Our server said 3x he was coming back with drink refills and never did. We gave up before dessert so we could get out of there, it had been an hour and a half for pre portioned foods. Mac and cheese was the best thing there because we usually make dd the cheap Kraft stuff at home. Pluto was great and dd doesnt even remember meeting Minnie (good thing I got it on film) as she was there for all of 5 seconds, and I mean in the whole dining room for 5 seconds. It was the worst interaction of all the character meals we did, except for Pluto. Pluto was great and spent time with each kid as far as we could see! Now if he can do it and personalized each kids experience why not a major character like minnie mouse?

I totally agree. Everything was bland. My poor parents, who love buffets, were searching and searching for something they could eat. Nothing had flavor. I suppose that is authentic food, but it's not for me.
:p

We won't be going back to Mama Melrose (and we are very easy going). The salad was beyond salty, everything had tons of gorgonzola cheese, the flat breads were undercooked and the toppings weren't fresh, the chicken parm had an inch of soggy salty breading and way way overcooked chicken, they must have been running low on spaghetti because I got a tiny amount with my parm and both kids got a tiny amount while kids at other tables had bowls full of pasta, both the tiramisu and cheesecake were very stale tasting like they had been uncovered in the fridge for days.

Coral Reef for me. Though I'll add, in case anyone is getting scared reading about bad experiences at WDW restaurants, out of perhaps 10 table service restaurants we dined at, CR was the only one I was disappointed in. The food there was so bland (we had a very boring pasta), the choice is extremely limited and even though in theory you can see the fish tanks from anywhere in the restaurant (it's tiered) no way is it the same sitting on tier 2 or beyond as tier 1 (i.e. next to the tank). It's so dark too, which I understand it must be in order to make the most of the aquarium but just bear in mind if you like bright surroundings this place isn't gonna do it for you. The waiter was grumpy and never broke into a smile once. It was also the longest wait we had - about 40 minutes (with a PS made) although that didn't really bother me.

When we finished our meal, on our way out, we went closer to get a proper look at the tanks but felt really foolish trying to have a good look, over other diner's heads :teeth: who were obviously trying to enjoy their lunch. I'm not going back.

One positive thing - kudos to them for the fab kids dessert 'make your own sundae' - now that was great.

Le Ceiller in Canada would have to get my vote. The food was good, but the wait between courses was TERRIBLE! I wouldn't recommend this meal for people with children. The meal took us over 2 hours, and that was with us absolutely rushing through dessert just to get done. The wait between each course was SO long that it just wasn't worth it!

We went as a family around Thanksgiving and had a blast. I dare say it was one of the best Character meals of all the ones we did ( and we did quite a few - CRT, Crystal Palace, Ohana's, Chef Mickeys, LTT, Mickeys BBQ, Garden Grill).
Regarding the Food. Its a Norwegian restaurant. I guess you just have to go in with the understanding that you probably wont see burgers & fries on the menu. My husband & I both had the smoked trout (we figure go for the "themed" chef recommended items and we'd have a better experience...ie. not the poorly americanized choices) We were pleasantly surprised. I'm not a big smoke fish connoisseur, but I have to admit it really was tasty and I finished it all! You have to be willing to let go of your predefined traditions and explore a bit.

The kids menu was more traditional - they got hot dogs and french fries. They are cognizant that children probably are not as flexible, in their tastes. We had an absolute blast, and my daughter (who loves Snow White) was in seventh heaven with the amount of time she got to spend with that princess. She got lots of time with all the princesses. She was so happy by the time we left I was in tears (happy tears of course).

Certainly not the worst food, but I have to agree that CR is the most overpriced resturant at WDW.

Well The Akershus in Norway is my vote for the absolute worst for dinner. (We did the breakfast and that food was fine.) I do agree that the princesss interaction was GREAT and my DH kept reminding us that that was really why we were there, lol. We thought the food was just awful. My kids didn't eat the food either...We actually went back to our hotel and ate at Beaches and Cream, because we were still so hungry.lol

My DH and I haven't had too many bad food experiences at Disney. Here are the exceptions:

ABC commissary. Tried it twice, hated it twice. he food was poorly cooked and it's way too loud in there.

Rainforest Cafe. Way too long of a wait for overpriced, mediocre food.

Wolfgang Puck's Cafe. Ate there three times (really wanted to like it), had bad food and service all three times.

Finally, the TS restaurant in Mexico. Now, I have to mention that this experience was a very long time ago, but what happened has kept us from going back. I was a vegetarian at the time, and there were no vegetarian options on the menu (this has since changed). I asked for the enchiladas to be prepared without the chicken, which the waiter said they could do. Well, the food came out with chicken. I sent it back, and the chef came out into the dining area, pointed at me, and started yelling really loud (I could not understand what he was saying). The waiter had to drag him back into the kitchen. It freaked me out.

While not "disgusting" or anything, I thought the food at Marrakesh was incredibly bland. It seemed way too Americanized. I have eaten at more authentic Moroccan restaurants and really enjoyed the food, the Disney version was disappointing.

We just returned from WDW last night. The worst meal of our latest trip was definitely the Princess breakfast at Norway. The food was edible, but definitely not anything special. We definitely felt that we paid a ton for eggs, potatoes and bacon. The interaction with the princesses really wasn't great either. We did it once, but definitely won't be returning.

The breakfasts at 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickey's were much better!

I did not enjoy the food at Boma. Now let me say I do not enjoy eating red meat, poultry, or fish with any kind of sweetness to it. It seemed that most of the foods had some kind of sweet sauce on them. I believe I ate hummus, a piece of prime rib, some soup, and a zebra dome or two. If you enjoy the kinds of food they prepare, then I'd guess the food was good. I just didn't enjoy what they had to offer.
