Quick advice on attractions, please -

I have a tendency toward muscle spasms in my back when I lift things I shouldn't. I did that the other day. :( :(

While I'm just about back (no pun intended) to normal now, we leave in less than 3 days !!!! (woo-hoo!!)

Which rides should I really avoid??? (I'm not a roller coaster fan, but usually like all the other types, including things like Splash Mt.

Thanks for your advice, in advance!!!

Welcome to the Dis Joyce:wave: I have some minor back problems, but I have gone on just about every ride at WDW and didn't feel that any of them aggravated my back problems. Most of the coasters are smooth. I'll tell you one jerky ride that might give you a problem is Dinosaur at AK. I haven't had any problems there, but if you're concerned, the ride isn't all that great anyway.

I also have minor back problems and Test track is what got me. I didn't have problems with anything else. Dinosaur was closed when we were there, so I didn't try that one. :(

I would avoid Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl.

Both rides are jerky and throw you around quite a bit. Most everything else is fairly smooth.

The rides that have cautions for people with neck and back problems are marked on the park maps with a little red triangle caution icon. A new thing that we noticed on our trip last March is that there are now signs outside each ride/atttraction that also have the warnings for that ride and a little (very basic) explanation of the ride - on the order of "A gentel boat ride" or "a turbulent thrill ride." For the rides that have a caution, you can always ask the CMs about them or have someone in your party try them out before you ride.

I have had fairly serious back problems (once nearly immobile for 48 hours, could not even crawl) and this is always a worry for me. On my last trip to WDW I stood up once and fell right back down again while in MK. Nonetheless I went on the Dinosaur ride, Splash Mountain and some of the others that throw you around a bit. No problems and curiously after one of these my back actually felt better.

I am careful to not run or make quick movements when my back starts to go south and being cautious pays off, usually within a day or two I'm in pretty good shape again.

I have chronic back and hip problems and the only ride that bothered me was space mountain. Everyone is different so just play it by ear. Have a great trip.

Thank you all for your advice!! Sounds like I should still be able to do most things.

I got one of those 3-legged portable seats that fold up like a cane to reduce having to stand in line, too!

We leave in the morning - WOO HOO!!!!!!

I echo the posters who said avoid Dinosaur!

I don't have a bad back, but I do know that Star Tours gave me a twinge. Nothing bad, but if you have a bad back you might want to avoid it. I love that ride, and I've ridden it before with no problems, but who knows?

Have fun Joyce, give Mickey a big hug and tell him we will be there soon! :Pinkbounc

I have had cancer of the spine so I am very careful about my back. I have ridden every ride in WDW. THe only ones that bothered me at all were Primereal Whirl, Space Mnt. and Dinosaur. THey did not bother me to the point that I don't ride them. I just make sure I brace myself.

I too have a bad back and over the last few years have had 3 instances of not being able to walk at all at first and then little baby steps. This is our first trip to WDW and I am very excited of course! However I've seen the Test Track ride video somewhere online which showed multiple sudden stops :earseek: . So that ride too, is a no no for me! Also I worry about the bit that on TOT when you go back up will effect me since I also have problems carrying or lifting things. I sure am curious about that ride though, sounds so cool!
On Dinosaur a kind person who replyed to my post over in the disabilities forum said to schooch close to your neighbors for support, since it is wildly jerky. Now my BF won't mind but I'm hoping my neighbor is a likeminded sweetie!
