The last time we visited Disney in 2012 we brought a backpack to the parks. We would either leave it where you exit rides or put it in lockers. Will Disney still let you leave your backpack when you get on a ride and pick it up when you get off? If you do have to put them in lockers do they have lockers that a backpack fit in and do you pay for all these lockers? Do they have lockers all over the different parks?

The only ride we have done at WDW that lets you leave a backpack is Soarin. Otherwise you need to take it with you. I think Kali might have lockers close by.

They have lockers only at the entrance. You can't leave your stuff waiting while you go on rides except for Soarin'.

there are lockers near the park entrances.
you pay for it if you want it.
yes a backpack can fit.

i get the feeling that you are recalling a different amusement/theme park.
you cannot just leave your backpack laying around.
you take it on the ride with you.
even on soarin you either put it in the compartment below your seat or if its too big you set it off to the side but its in the same room as you.

It is considered a security risk to leave bags unattended this is a really bad idea

Hi All,

I've decided that when we go next year, I'm going to take a backpack as I'm sick of filling my pockets with phones, purses, cameras ect.
Is there a storage place on the rides to put your bags, as if I remember, most rides have a pocket near the bottom of your feet that you store it in - is this still the case?

Thanks

There's often a mesh pouch in front of you on rides, but it's not big enough for a backpack. It needs to go on the floor of the ride. I just put my foot through one of the loops and never worry about it.

Larger bags on soarin you can leave on the ground off to the side if they dont fit. We once went after a major gift store binge and our bags didnt fit

I used a day pack everyday. North Face has a great waterproof one! It fit fine on all of the rides.

Take a small enough backpack that you can put by your side or behind your back or even between your feet while riding stuff like Space Mountain. Not a lot of extra room so maybe take just the necessary items like phone, wallet, passes, glasses, ponchos etc.. Maybe leave food and resort drink mugs back at resort so its not so bulky.

I do the exact same thing!

image.png If it's not raining you can use one of these as well (less tan lines ;)). They don't hold up quite as good, but serve the purpose! I have a bunch of these that I use at our local amusement park when we go.

I'm sure glad someone posted this question as I have the exact same question but haven't got around to posting it.

Haven't been to Disney World before, so it might be a silly question.

I assume there's really no risk of the backpack falling out of the ride vehicle? Even on rollercoasters?

Off topic, but I had a brain fade moment when reading this post, I was thinking "What do you mean by 'backpacks in the same room as you', Soaring is like Peter Pan's Flight where you fly around to different place and your backpack surely wouldn't 'stay in the same room', then I'd remembered that in Soaring, you actually are just in front of a screen the whole time and actually don't "fly" anywhere haha. That's what I get from watching too many attraction YouTube videos haha

If your packing to the point you can't bring the bag on the ride with you, I think you should consider packing 2 bags and putting one in a locker or re-evaluate what you may not need to carry with you. Lockers are only found at the front of each park (exception is the free lockers to keep your things dry when you ride kali) but that's not something you can use all day it is time limited.. Security is tighter now, plan accordingly.

Lockers are great for extra clothes, water for the trip back home/resort, phone chargers.. things you might want at the park but don't need with you all day.. Also great for sweatshirts and things if it's the time of year where it gets chilly at night.

Are you sure this was at Disney? I haven't been to WDW since 2007, but I was able to take my backpack on everything. On the other hand, I've read that Universal doesn't allow bags on rides.
