2 adults are booked and ready to go in February. Our first time going as an adult. If I remember correctly, mom and dad carried all of our souveniers, cups, cameras etc for us.
Do you recommend bringing a backpack for this kind of stuff? I plan on having sun screen, maps, mugs, sunglass case, etc.
Is it a pain to store this while you are on rides? What do you do with all of your Disney stuff without having to run to the lockers 10 times a day?

Any suggestions are appreciated

Some people bring backpacks and some bring cross body bags. You may bring them on the rides. For some rides there is a net in the front where you can put your bag. If I have a backpack, I just loop it around my leg on some rides if there is no where to put it. I don't bring too many things with me and it's never been an issue.

Most rides have room for a backpack at your feet so long as it isn't huge (standard size OK; camping/backpacking size not OK)We love bringing one with it b/c we can also bring water bottles and/or soda in with us to have instead of paying Disney prices. Or even pack a lunch.

It's so much easier than trying to keep track of things. We do a change of clothes for DD, ponchos, sunscreen, baby wipes, some small snacks and our new found treasures.

Bring a backpack but make it as small as possible. After a hot day of carrying that thing I swear it weighs more at 6pm than 9am.:)

2 adults? Don't bring a bag at all. The unlimited mugs are for your resort only so no reason to carry them. I carry my cell phone (in a wallet case to carry credit cards and cash) and chapstick. Plus my MB on my wrist, sunglasses on my head or shirt when not in use. My pins and camera are strapped to me in some form (or in my pocket when I used to carry a point and shoot- my slr isn't pocket sized ;)). A small thing of sunscreen could go in a pocket as well. Unless you are going with kids, there is no reason to carry all that stuff!

I second the others saying go without a backpack! My boyfriend and I - both late 20s - originally started going together a few years ago and always carried a backpack. We'd put ponchos, sunscreen, a water bottle, snack, etc in it, but would fight over who had to carry it, especially if it was hot outside. It was easy enough to store on rides, but we just got sick of carrying the darn thing.

Last year we went bag free and I cannot believe we ever did anything else! You don't have to wait through the bag lines to enter the park, don't have to worry about leaving anything on a ride, can slip through crowds easy peasy, and most of all, don't have a sweaty back!! With magicbands, we only need to bring our phones (in a pocket) and a travel size sunscreen (in boyfriend's cargo shorts). We usually manage well enough without a poncho by diverting to indoor shows or activities, but if it's really downpouring we just buy one and either stuff it in boyfriend's cargo shorts until we get back to the resort or give it to a family with a backpack when we're done.

If you are staying on property you can have your purchases shipped to your resort for pick upthe next day. I'm not sure but you may also be able to have your purchases sent to the front of the park for pick up when you leave. This alleviates having to carry all that stuff as well.

I'll take the opposite view on this...I liked having a backpack, we went in Aug and I had a rain poncho, fan, water bottle, mini first aid kit, cooling towel and had room for misc purchases.

We got these light weight nylon back packs that worked out great for us. Not heavy at all, and small enough that they didn't interfere with the rides at all.

Edited to add: in Feb you could easily put a sweatshirt or light jacket in there for night time.

I am bringing a small, water-resistant sling bag. Finally decided on the Patagonia Atom. I was going to go with a crossbody bag I have around, but the Atom will be easier on my back.

If you can go without a bag and that works for you, awesome! Wish I could. :)

My clothes either have pockets hardly large enough for my phone or no pockets (skirts) And I need tissues, medication, gum, small tube of sunscreen, phone, small wallet with a bit of cash, and feminine supplies, and a hat. Some days I might want to stuff a thin cardigan in there since I get cold easily in a/c. Maybe a small emergency snack for my husband because his food options are limited due to allergies and other issues and he needs to eat regularly. Bag it is!

Try a small backpack? Or a sling pack? A bag small enough you can't overpack it too much, something lightweight and comfortable to carry.

i recommend a small backpack for each person to carry the essentials.

you can take your belongings on the rides.
no need for a locker.

you don't have to carry souvenirs around all day either.
you can have them sent to the front of the park to pick up when you leave.
or if staying onsit and you will be there for at least another 48hrs you can have your souvenirs shipped to your hotel and ready to pick up at the gift shop.
or what i tend to do is just wait to shop until i'm on my way out of the parks.

we always have a Camelback.. fill it with ice before heading to the parks and no need to waste time in line at a QS or kiosk to stay hydrated. big enough to stash a rain poncho or two plus extra sunscreen and stil have room for my required purchase of tigger jammies

I carry a small Disney string backpack. Mostly I carry my poncho in it and my lanyard if I'm going on a ride and get tired of carrying it around my neck. If it weren't for the poncho I could go bagless.

We double up - we are all adults and hate having to run back to the car/room if we need something (also we use it to save some money). I bring a big backpack with sweatshirts, waters, sodas, snacks, first aid, extra sunscreen, extra socks etc. - the "emergency gear" and shove it in the locker. We maybe go back 1-2 times during the day once for drinks and possibly again after dark for warmer gear as we travel in the fall.

I then carry a small backpack just big enough for my essentials and has a water bottle holder on the side - camera, wallet, tickets, sunscreen. It is as light as my purse but easier to secure on rides.

I know fanny packs are not fashionable, but I don't care. They are extremely functional, and less of a pain in the back. I carry a fairly large one that suits my family's needs for sunscreen, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, phone, camera, band-aids, a few souvenir purchases, ponchos, etc. On many rides I don't even have to take it off, just pull it around to the front.

I carried a backpack on the last trip, just because I would rather have a bigger bag than I need than to have a small bag, crammed full. That way, I can put a jacket, snacks, souvenirs, and leftovers in there.

I love bringing a backpack to the parks. I try to make it a small backpack, but my last one broke while I was going through the bag line. I ended up buying one one of the shops at MK and it's a great backpack but too large for lugging around the parks. I find that if I keep my bag small, I feel less of a need to fill it with random stuff. If I have a big bag, I will fill it with everything in the world and then it's just inconvenient.

On my last trip I took a small cross body purse, just large enough for my wallet, phone (and charger), camera, iPad Mini, a travel deodorant and some makeup, and it was perfect. It wasn't too heavy (even with my baby iPad mini) and it carried everything I needed.

If you're worried about lugging around souvenirs, I believe if you're staying on-site you can have them delivered to your hotel. And if you're staying off-site you can have them delivered to the front of the park to pick up before you leave.

I bought a small backpack at Walmart for $7. It worked very well for me. I carried my wallet, sunglasses later in the evening, small items, cellphone, pins & giftsI bought during the day. Also, I carried a very light sweater for later when it cooled down. The resorts for some reason felt downright chilly walking through to get back to the room. I noticed some people wore light jackets during evening EMH.
