Back with the dining plan review and dining reviews - myself and dd (6) are back from our first mom and me trip....
We did the dining plan which I think was worth it..

Day 1 - Arrival --

Blizzard Beach - used first CS for lunch at the Lotawatta Lodge -
me - chicken wrap/chips, Coke, Tollhouse cookie sandwich (huge)
dd - Chicken nuggets, goldfish crackers, Applesauce, Mickey Bar, Soda
Total - 18.04 CS (2)

Good food, Wrap was good - dd wouldn't eat mickey crackers or applesauce - ate my chips. Had a hard time eating all the lunch plus the tollhouse as it was quite big.

1900 Pare Fare - Cinderellas Gala Feast - TS (2)
Buffet - we were offered smoothies to go along with our meal as a perk for dining plan members. DD and I both had strawberry - they were so good. We both had soda and enjoyed the buffet - wonderful chicken and salads were excellent, dd had the fare from kids buffet nuggets, etc. For dessert dd had icecream softserve with gummy bears and sprinkles! well we are on vacation ! - I had angel food cake with fresh berries - - Character interaction was great! Very well organized and excellent service. DD and I agreed this was best meal of the trip. Total 61.92 ( I left an extra tip as the server was so accomodating and made sure we were able to catch everyone before going up to the buffet)

We were too full to use our snack credits for the fist day..

So first day cost of dining plan 45.00 -- what we ate = 79.96

Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

2 Snack - Popcorn and Bottled Coke at cart near Toontown Fair - 4.74

2 CS - Cosmic Rays - dd - kids chicken leg (2) mashed potatoes, applesauce, soda -sugar free brownie Me - 1/2 Chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables - soda - Carrot Cake. (Ton of food! we could have split kids meal.... - in hindsight should have split adult meal and saved the CS credit for another day) Took desserts back to pool. Huge lines, food was good, great entertainment - dd enjoyed it. 19.22

1 Snack - Mickey Ice Cream for dd 2.55

Crystal Palace - Character dinner with Pooh (2 TS)
Buffet -- I know there have been very positive reviews of this one but dd and I did not like it at all - in fact we had to leave before dessert. We had a 6:40 reservation - we had came back from the pool so dd was rested and was in good spirit. The dining area is very chaotic - first we were brought in to be seated and someone was where they were going to seat us - moved us to other side. Character rotation was very awkward and we missed a couple of characters dd didn't want to eat because she couldn't understand why people nearby were getting to see characters but she wasn't. Needless to say I didn't get to eat much but what I did eat wasn't very good at all.. DD barely ate anything and just kept asking to leave - she kept complaining of how loud it was. She was fine once we left. We were offered smoothies also along with drink choice on dining plan. Cost - 44.93

Day 2 paid 45.00 for dining plan -- Cost of food = 93.44

Day 3 - MGM/Pop Century

Lunch - 50's Prime Time Cafe -
me - chicken noodle soup (I came down with a cold while there!) - fried chicken, snickers cheesecake, dd - chicken nuggets, fries, boursin cheese appetizer, build a sundae. Quick initial service, food took forever - 1:00 PS time.... dd loved the build a sundae. Interaction Okay - tables beside us and behind were having a great time. Cost - 44.26

1 snack - Epcot - Itzakadoozie Popsicle 2.50

Dinner - Pop Century - 2 CS
me - chicken parmesan with arugula - very good, tie dye cheesecake - delicious! dd - Penne pasta with Meatball - scoop of icecream with sprinkles, Water and a Sprite - 23.89

2 snack - Soda and Ice Cream - 5.00

cost of dining plan 45.00 - actual cost of meals -75.65

Day 4 -

Donalds Brefastasouras - 2 TS
8:20 PS before Park Opened - this worked out really well.
Buffet - took our pictures before we were seated and had them to
show us! Excellent buffet with choc. chip pancakes, bacon, fruit - donuts, I asked for a ham/cheese omlet and it was wonderful - I had coke DD had OJ - Excellent Character rotation and organization. Cost 34.00

2 Snack - Box of Popcorn and Soda - asked for an extra glass and shared pop with dd - $5.00

Late lunch - Restaurantosaurs 2 CS
- dd really wanted McD's Fries so back we went for late lunch... dd had Happy Meal and strawberry shortcake, me Cheeseburger bskt, water and strawberry shortcake. Cost 14.76 - should have done out of pocket for this one and used CS for better dinner at Magic Kingdom

Late dinner - Casey's Magic Kingdom- excellent fries with cheese sauce and hot dogs, drinks around 12.00 didn't keep track..

dining plan cost - - 45.00 - actual cost of food 53.76 (worst day) (not including dinner)

Okay this is pretty long but you can see that I made some errors with the plan that I could have done differently - - although I must say I was happy with how it all worked out and being solo with my dd I am happy we got where we needed to be and had a great time.

I'd be happy to answer questions, etc.

Hope this helps someone as I read so many reviews before going and was super glad I did.

Thanks for the reviews. Donald's Breakfastosaurus is a favorite of ours, glad to hear you enjoyed it too! :)

Thanks! You did lots of new places for me! =) Sounds like the dining plan worked for your advantage.

:) Thanks for writing. Good to hear you liked Donald's sometimes it gets a lot of negative reviews. We went a couple of years ago and enjoyed it!

Great reviews!

I have a PS at 8:10 for Donalds in a few weeks. Assuming we are done before they open at 9 (I'll make sure we are, hehe), when do they let you out of the restaurant? Did you beat the crowds?

Thanks again!

We were leaving the Dinosaur area after stopping to see some very large grasshopers... and the bus with the characters was just leaving the entrance area and they were letting everyone in. Everyone headed to the Safari and we headed to Festival of the Lion King - dd wanted to see it the most and so we started there and worked our way around. Did fastpass for Safari and saw a ton of animals - I think the Flights of Wonder show was great and so did dd.

Enjoy your brkfst :)

Thanks for the reviews! It really makes me wonder if I need it when I go back in February. It will be me,and my DS10,DS8,DD7,and DD2(ages at the time).Am i correct?-$30 for adults and $15 for kids each day?

dismom it's 35/day for everyone over 9 and 10/day for the little ones

I believe the 2 year old doesn't count at all and is allowed to share off of your plate.

Thanks you for adding your review of the MYW plus dining. I can definitely understand your feeling of being full.

I also love the plan and think it is worth every penny and I look forward to using it again some day. I just purchased APs for my family so I had to change my plans for my upcoming trip but I definitely will miss MYW plus dining.

I had to wear my 'eatin' pants in January! :rotfl:

How was the boursin cheese appetizer at 50's PT? I am dying to try this after reading about it the other day on these boards. If I am remembering correctly it was fried. YUM! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Cost per day is 35.00 adult and 10.00 per child to age 10 I think-- dd is 6 and it was 9.99 I rounded up to 10.00... It is hard to say whether it would be worth it or not - I'd do the math with the menus at allears.net and see what you think -- if you do any character meals I'd say it is definitely worth it but best to do some sample meals per day and add it up..

Cheese appetizer at 50's Prime Time was excellent - dd wouldn't eat it so I did - the raspberry sauce was so delicious - dh would have liked it if he had been along...

Thank you so much for posting this! I just booked a trip for me and my DD for July, and it's great to see how much it would have cost you both, if not for the plan. My DD is 11, so I had to buy two adult plans (no way would she pass for 9-she's taller than I am!). It's good to see that most days, you got more than your money's worth. I'll just have to be sure to plan our meals wisely, to get the most bang for the buck!

Thanks, again!
