Back to Wonderland with a side of French Fries-New 3/15Mix up culture w/fun

Hee hee I love your shrine! Very cool!! :thumbsup2
The time is going to fly by and will be here before you know it! :goodvibes
Yes I do have a Mini....He is a 2006 supercharged regular model and a lot of fun to drive  The bigger size is a Clubman. You would be surprised by how much room there are in either one of them. ::yes:: I think I have a thing for German cars...have had an Audi, two VW's and now the Mini. I had a Lexus RX330 at one time and that just wasn't for me :confused3 :lovestruc my Mini

Tracy

Patricia, great shrine, great books, great film! So exciting that you are only 80 days away from your trip! I almost bought a baguette today at the store but really had no purpose for it -- if only I had read your update before, I could have bought two and dueled with Connor.

Hmmm...did French Minnie and Jedi Mickey go on a field trip to visit with a certain gnome??

I love your French shrine, it's so almost. I want a shrine in my house. :rotfl2:

I think your first movie was the perfect pick. I just love Ratatouille. I love the ending of it and I love the music in it. :goodvibes

How fun! It's going to be an exciting time getting ready for your Paris trip! Such a festive shrine!
I can't wait to see everything you come up with on Fridays!
:artist:

First of all I love your shrine and your French Fridays how much fun is that PPP!!!!!

Secondly...Jedi Mickey and French Minnie have disappeared...Oooh La La whatever could those two be up too??? Hmmm...speaking of which where is Nobby...I haven't seen him lately....GREAT JUST GREAT...you mean to tell me all three are nowhere to be found...this can't bode well for society at all :scared1:

I love the idea of the shrine! I think I need to do that, too, for my next big trip (none planned yet, I am thinking about Japan though).

The first French Friday sounds like a success! :thumbsup2

I think I have a thing for German cars...have had an Audi, two VW's and now the Mini.

:thumbsup2 :cool2:

Funny you should ask...the books are being itemized in the garage by Eric for the homeowner's insurance...we had a team in on Tuesday and they basically took the whole room apart...part of ceiling...bookcases, rugs up...we have industrial fans and humidifiers in there to dry it all out and the guys are coming back on Monday to get them and we'll then be talking to the contractors to rebuild...should be done by the end of January...

glad to hear you'll have your book room back soon...my scrappin room has been somewhat abandon during the last month + due to the holidays and sickness...I need to straighten up in there before I can start making some more memories!

I really do feel like the White Rabbit...I'm late, I'm late for a very important PLANNING date...eeeekkkk....:scared1:

I feel like that everyday...;)

And the piece de resistance...My Paris/DLP countdown/shrine/inspiration...

100_1451.jpg

that is so fun! I love it :thumbsup2

there is one very serious and mysterious issue...

FRENCH MINNIE IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND...(and for those of you who may have followed my previous trip reports-you know this is not a good thing at all...not at all...:sad2:)

French Minnie where are you???

& that roguish Jedi Mickey is also missing...I'm thinking they are off together...hmmmm....there had better be some explaining very soon...:headache:

OH no...I hope they are not still living it up at WDW....:confused3

Sounds like your first French Friday was a big success! :thumbsup2 You are so creative... I can't wait to hear about the next 11!

Thanks it was fun...now I just have to get the creative juices flowing for the next 11...:rotfl:

Hey! LOVE the French Friday idea!!! SO fun! And the Shrine de Francais -- also tres jolie.. :lovestruc And you are right. 80 odd days is going to fly by. January and February ALWAYS fly...

Here is my cookie recipe. I make them at Christmas and for Valentines Day! They are really simple and taste great. It is my Grandmother's....

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
dash of vanilla OR lemon extract OR neither....

3 cups flour
1/2 t B powder
1/2 t B soda
1/2 t Salt

Cream the first four ingredients, then blend the dry together, and mix all, a cup at a time.... have extra flour for rolling.

Chill dough, about 3 hrs or more -- I make it a few days ahead of time and then I have it. We have granite countertops so it works well for rolling these out, the dough can be sticky the first go at it, but with extra flour no problems...
Temp 380 max (if you have a hot oven go with 375) 5 - 7 min.

I use parchment paper so the bottoms stay white not brown. I don't like my sugar cookies to brown, so I watch these like a hawk. Once out of the oven I let them sit an additional minute so they do bake a little longer in a way, and then frost the next day.

:goodvibes

Thanks HD for the recipe...:goodvibes...We will definitely be making some of these...David is especially excited-who wouldn't want to eat the Eiffel Tower...:lmao: (Seeing the Eiffel Tower is on his top 3 list right along with climbing up the tower to the top of Notre Dame and eating countless sugar crepes...;)

I will post a photo of these after we make them...we may need to do a trial batch first...:rolleyes1

Paris!!!!!!!!!!!! so exciting.

Sigh.

I love your shrine and the baguette book sounds adorable! I especially loved that you dueled with David with baguettes!!!!!!!

What a great start to your French Fridays!

Yes I have to recomment baguette dueling...not only is it theraputic but it's kind of difficult for anyone to really get hurt and you get eat the weapons afterwards...:thumbsup2

Hee hee I love your shrine! Very cool!! :thumbsup2

Tracy

Tracy-thanks about the shrine...and I feel like time is already flying...

The Clubman-that's it!...:goodvibes...I want a Clubman...::yes::...it's funny I don't get serious car envy over lots of cars...(A mom at Emily's school has a Ferrari and I didn't even know what it was...Eric saw it and told me...I thought it was "coolish" but I didn't drool over it or anything like that...but something about the Beatles and the Minis...they are just like happiness on wheels...:goodvibes-I must admit I do think Audi makes an attractive sedan and Volvo too...;)

So many film and book possibilities lie just around the corner...:cloud9:...I think Connor would enjoy baguette duel...I think you would too...:goodvibes

I'm not sure where French Minnie and Jedi Mickey have gotten to but I'm not happy with either of them... If they went to visit Nobby they could have had the common courtesy to let me know...(there will be word when they return...:rolleyes1...

I'm all about the shrine...it's inspiring and it reminds me to keep on planning...:lmao:

Ratatouille is a great movie...it just has something for everyone and its one of those great films that you get something out of it whether you are a kid or grown up...:goodvibes

How fun! It's going to be an exciting time getting ready for your Paris trip! Such a festive shrine!
I can't wait to see everything you come up with on Fridays!

Jen-I had been hoping that you might have seen those two...I was wondering if they had gone to catch some Florida sun and warmth and hook up with Nobby...but now you're saying Nobby is missing as well...:scared1:

Oh dear-we can only hope they are just catching some r & r...the alternatives really don't bode well for civilization as we know it...:confused3

I love the idea of the shrine! I think I need to do that, too, for my next big trip (none planned yet, I am thinking about Japan though).

The first French Friday sounds like a success! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :cool2:

Ooo....you want to go to Japan...(me too...but there are an awful lot of places I want to go...;)

Do you have any plans in the not too distant future...:rolleyes1

and isn't your trip to WDW right around the corner...:woohoo:

I feel like that everyday...;)

That's probably because you are running around with so many responsibilities...you have so much to do and think about...it would bring many people to their news...a little late...no biggie...

OH no...I hope they are not still living it up at WDW....:confused3

All I know is they have a lot of explaining to do...:rolleyes1

I hope you can get back to scappin soon...:goodvibes...it's very theraputic and healing to focus on doing something you love...

How creative you are! That's such a great way to get excited about the trip, especially for the kids!:worship::worship:

Minnie and Mickey----bow chicka bow wow.;)

Since it relates to your PTR: I just updated mine with our first DLP trip! I thought you might enjoy the pictures!

Tracy and Patricia: I really like your Mini talk! I was at point seriously considering getting one, but then I realized that I really don't need a car (I use public transportation and my bike) and the money I save can be invested in trips to WDW! :rotfl: I thought at first it was funny that Tracy called the Mini German, because it is such a British car. But (this time! ;) ) you are right: it is made by BMW now and thus a German car.

And in case you don't know: most German car manufacturers offer that you can get your car at the factory in person. They have really great visitor centers there to explore before getting your car. German cars are nearly allways made to order, car sellers don't have lots of cars standing around from which you choose. So you just have a few models to look at and then order the car with the specifications you want. When it is produced, it can either be delivered to your car dealer or you get it yourself at the factory.

This picking up your own car is also offered to Americans. There seem to be quite a few Americans who order an Audi, BMW or Mercedes, pick the car up here an even get German license plates, then use it for a vacation in Europe and then deliver it back to the factory which will arrange the shipping to the US. Of course the reason behind this is: people who buy a car that can go over 125 mph (over 200 km/h) might want to try out that speed legally. Since there isn't any general speed limit on highways in Germany, you are free to do so here...

Ooo....you want to go to Japan...(me too...but there are an awful lot of places I want to go...;)

Do you have any plans in the not too distant future...:rolleyes1

and isn't your trip to WDW right around the corner...:woohoo:

There are indeed an awful lot of places I would want to go to, too! :goodvibes Somehow Japan is really calling my name, though. Unfortunately I don't have anything planned after WDW (which is really a wonderful trip to look forward to, but not really shrine worthy in my opinion). This makes me a bit nervous, I love starting to plan my next trip before I go on the recent one! Perhaps I will at least book a weekend in London soon! :goodvibes

Happy New Year - I'm all caught up. I love the DLP/Paris Shrine as well. It seems like it's really close when you only have 12 (now 11) French Fridays left before you go!!

How I wish I could see your french shrine! But here I am, slaving away (haha), no pictures! Boo!

I love your idea about french Fridays! How creative. I can't wait to read all about your Paris and DLP trip. How exciting for the whole family! Our church music director is from France and she visits her family for three weeks every January. She brings back the most devine chocolate. YUM! (Yes - it is always food with me!)

YAY for crepes with Nutella and Bananas... :goodvibes We ate the best crepees from a stand next to the Eiffle Tower... *sigh* Hope the cookies turn out okay!!! ;)

I hope you don't start finding mini-Mickey and Minnie's around your home....:rolleyes1 ;)

I LOVE that you dueled David with the baguettes! Very cute. Your shrine/countdown area is looking great!!!

How creative you are! That's such a great way to get excited about the trip, especially for the kids!:worship::worship:

thanks Jordan...

& still no sign of M & M and my irritation is growing...

Yes its one of those inside torrid love stories that Disney cleans up...:rolleyes1

I definitely have that Mini Clubman on my radar although picking up my own Audi in Germany sound pretty nice...;)

Ummm just how fast do people actually drive in Germany?

I think a weekend in London sounds lovely...

Japan would be a fabulous trip...something about the aesthetic appeals to me...except when it gets really minimalistic... I'd like to go to Tokyo but I'd really love to go to Kyoto...I hope you get there someday not too far away...:goodvibes

Happy New Year - I'm all caught up. I love the DLP/Paris Shrine as well. It seems like it's really close when you only have 12 (now 11) French Fridays left before you go!!

Hey you...:goodvibes...Happy New Year right back at you... are you updating again...I have to come see...

I actually can't believe how close that trip is getting...

The French Fridays also keep me on the straight and narrow...they remind me to keep the planning on track and are kind of cheery in the grey of winter...

French chocolate...extra yum....:goodvibes

YAY for crepes with Nutella and Bananas... :goodvibes We ate the best crepees from a stand next to the Eiffle Tower... *sigh* Hope the cookies turn out okay!!! ;)

The cookies are going to be great...:goodvibes

Rabbit told me the three things we wanted to do the most in Paris was visit the Eiffel Tower, climb up the tower at Notre Dame, and eat as many sugar crepes as he could...:lmao:

Bumping this up from page 2

:surfweb:
Aww...thanks for the bump...:goodvibes...I've been off the boards for three days because I've been using my computer time to do commando planning for Paris...:lmao:

I hope you don't start finding mini-Mickey and Minnie's around your home....:rolleyes1 ;)

I LOVE that you dueled David with the baguettes! Very cute. Your shrine/countdown area is looking great!!!

I certainly hope I don't start finding any mini M&M s around the house......there will certainly be some serious discussions and there'd better be a wedding ring involved...

I must say I am pretty stealthy with a baguette...;)
