***I've updated this thread on page 4. This below, was posted last December.***

We got back on Saturday from our trip...we left Dec 8 and stayed
at the All Star Movies for a night, then moved over the the Polynesian
for Dec 9-16th. OMG-d. It was a WONDERFUL vacation and
we had the BEST surprise of all(well many good things happened
but this was the biggest)... We go over to the Poly on the morning
on Dec 9 to have breakfast and I check to see if our room
(a garden view) was ready.

I had called a few days prior and made a request for 3rd floor
Samoa or a room in Rarotonga(sp?). The very nice CM at the
check in desk said well the room that you requested was not
available so they complimentary upgraded you to concierge level.
I said huh?? Not really sure what she was saying to me... :faint:
I said really? wondering if this upgrade meant I had to pay for it,
haa haa...and she said you will be in the Hawaii building---looking
at me like aren't ya really surprised?! And I still must have had this
look on my face like wah??? are you serious?

And she then said, Have you stayed here before??? And I said
well at WDW yes, but not at the Poly...and she said you will be
staying at concierge level in the Hawaii building. :faint: I thought
to myself... why surely this isn't a FREE upgrade... and I was
thinking to myself, hmmm that is far away from the main
ceremonial house (again not really getting what she was saying)
... :rotfl: And I smiled and said great thank you... can you tell
me what the balance is on the room (expecting to hear like $2500,
but nope the balance due on the room was what I had budgeted
for our garden view room. SHOCKED I tell ya SHOCKED! I asked if
it was ready right now and she said no not yet. And gave me a
card to call them back a little later and gave me the concierge
schedule of free food etc. :faint:

So a little woozy, but still not sure if this was really real I told
my husband and he was mildy impressed (he never really *gets*
things until I explain them...so he was a bit like oh ok whatever...)
So we eat and shop a bit and after a few hours I asked dh to go
back to the desk to ask if the room was ready and it was. This
was about 11:00am. So he comes back with a map and the room highlighted. 3513. I didn't know if this was a good room or not so
we walked over to the Hawaii building and met the concierge staff
and asked how to get to the room. They told us take the elveator
then turn right and the room is on your left and they were all smiles.
I was saying over and over to my dh and the kids, I can't believe
they upgraded us, how on earth is this possible!?!!!

I was looking at the building and toward the lagoon thinking oh my,
we couldn't possibly be in a Magic Kingdom castle view room, no no,
this is too much really...I bet we were upgraded but i bet its a view
of the pool or something else. So, never having been to the Poly
before we get on the elevator and press #3 for the 3rd floor. My
heart is pounding and I have butterflies in my stomach. We get
off the elevator and I noticed the room #s on the doors on my left...
and I see even #s and I get bummed and think oh well yes of course
our room is on the right hand side not the left, we are *not* on the
magic kingdom view, but then I look again and I see consecutive #s,
3504, 3505, 3506, 3507, 3508, 3509... and I realize that the 3513 IS
on the left hand side and I start running to our room!!!!! Practically screaming my head off!!!

I get the card in the door with my hands shaking and I am overcome
with joy and sheer disbelief...the room is BEAUTIFUL and I run to the
window and threw open the door to see the CASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE GOT UPGRADED TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM CASTLE VIEW CONCIERGE LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:faint: :faint: I was hyperventilating... I couldn't believe my eyes.
My kids were screaming and yelling too because I was, I was just
saying over and over OMG-d, OMG-d, I can't believe this, oh my
this is so amazing, I can't believe this........... :yay: :yay: :yay:
Things like this just dont' happen to us---never, ever, ever would i have expected ANYTHING like this, never ever in a million years. I was
just hoping to get a nice clean room. :rotfl:

Here are a few pictures of us first getting into the room:

We got another suprise (well two!!!) and I will write more about
them in a day or so. I took like 800 pictures during the week and
need to get the rest in order and uploaded to my flickr account.
I took lots of pictures of the room for people to see what it looks
like. We truly had a magical time... I am still in shock I think!

WOW - that IS a great surprise!!! That must've been so exciting to hear that you were being upgraded! I don't know why, but I really want to hear them telling ME that someday!!

Good for you - can't wait to hear what else happened!!

Wow I would love and uppgrade like that. You must have been thrilled. WE did get Samoa 3rd floor which was nice but I would trade in a second for MK view Concierge. :goodvibes

How absolutely WONDERFUL for your family!!! :cool1: So glad to hear you had such a wonderful time! We love the Polynesian and the concierge there and the view of the castle can't be beat.

What a wonderful surprise. I'm so happy to hear when families have a great time, so many post bad experiences. We try to make every trip magical. I was just wondering, how did you contact the Poly to make your room request? We are celebrating my dd's 20th birthday and I would like to make a request for a specific building. Thanks in advance. :wave2:

That is wonderful! I'm so happy for you and your family. Looking forward to more pics and details.

As soon as you posted the room number, I thought oh my, she is going to faint when she looks out the balcony. We have had the room directly below that one and it is a very special view. :thumbsup2

And when I talked to you on the phone I was all jumping up and down for you! LOL I called my dh right away and told him!

Can't wait to hear the rest of your report, though I know I got the short verbal version yesterday!
