We just had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Poly. We really love the atmosphere there and if they had a Poly DVC we would sell our other points and run for it.
I did, though, check out the decorations at our "homes", BWV and VWL--both GORGEOUS!!
Anyhow, the weird thing about our room at the Poly was that the DVC channel was blocked! We had the little thing on our table that said "channel 21", but the TV went from channel 20 (static) to channel 22 (your next vacation)!!! They did have DVC in Spanish on 54, but the DVC channel will lull me right to sleep and I didn't have it!
It didn't have weather channel either, but that didn't bother me.

It was probably just someone playing with the remote. At our recent stay at BWV, there were about 6 or 7 channels, including ABC that were "skipped"

A quick press of a few buttons and it was unskipped!

I've found the same thing. First thing I do when I check in is to "fix" the missing channels. I once thought about inventing a device that Disney housekeeping could use to reprogram the TVs to a known state to undo the fiddling that some guests tend to do with the remotes. I doubt that I could get Disney to fund my development however since it really doesn't add all that much value to a vacation stay. Besides, they would probably want the magic box to delete all but the Disney channels (and ABC and ESPN of course).

jeeze, one breath your saving them money by fixing a computer, now you want them to fund your new project

We recently stayed in a 1BR unit of a Homewood Suites (not in Florida) which had a tv in the living room & the bedroom. We noticed the tv in the bedroom picked up quite a few more channels than the one in the living room. Maintenance came with a 'master' remote to reprogram the tv in the living room. They have their tvs set so guests can't mess with the remotes & can only be reset with the master. Their satellite feed had recently been changed & I guess whoever did the remote reprogramming missed one.

I noticed we couldn't get some of the channels (like NBC) when we were down last year, but I thought it was Disney trying to cut out their competition. How do you FIX the remote?

On our last trip NBC was programmed out of our remote, too. I was too lazy to take the time to figure out how to deprogram it, so I just punched in the channel number when I wanted to watch NBC.

I find that sometimes the remote for the bedroom TV hasn't been "fixed", so you can use that one to reprogram the main TV. You'd think that I would have better things to do when I'm at WDW than to fix DVC computers and TV sets. I guess it's just the geek in me. :)

ROFL regarding P4P's comment.

We were just down at the ASMo and we had the same problem with the remote. Dh called maintenence and he came right over and showed DH how to reprogram remote. Said it happens all the time. Now Inever get a turn at the remote so I would not have a clue but I was unaware that you could mess it up.

We have a stay at OKW coming up next month. A post with the steps for restoring the TV channels would be a nice service here. (hint, hint)

Yes, Towncrier, "spill the beans" tell us how to do it!;)

It's different with every remote, so I would suggest that you call the front desk if you TV is missing channels. The only alternative is to invite me on your vacation. (The phone call to maintenance would probably be easier and less expensive).

Well, there is one spot left in our 2 bedroom. There will be only 7 of us.
