Debs Hill-
The Portofino Bay was beautiful. We were there the Sunday & Monday before Thanksgiving. The holtel wasn't really decorated for the holidays but they did have a huge X-mas tree outside by the boat doc. The landscaping is gorgeous. The hotel is supposed to be a replica of an Italian fishing village. The entrance had real grapevines growing. The staff was very service oriented. Everyone there said hello to you. We had a villa room overlooking
one of the pools. I think it was their quiet pool. There were a lot of cabanas around it & a hotub. There main pool was a beach pool with real sand-it was huge & had a great slide. The kids are still talking about it. Our bathroom was huge! It is the largest hotel bathroon that I have ever seen. It had a double sink, a shower stall & the tub was separate. It had a windows with shutters over the tub & when open you could see out into the rest of your room. The room size was comparable to the GF with the exception of the bathroom. The queen beds had double sheeting with down comforters & there were robes in the room. The rooms don't have day beds, however, you could request a roll-away. We also had a VCR & fax machine in our room because it was a Deluxe Room. There is no concierge service at this hotel. Their "concierge lounge" is open to everyone & they have people there to assist you with your vacation needs. The transportation to the parks ran every 7 minutes & it was by boat. My mom had a facial, pedicure & manicure done at their spa & she was very happy with it.
I don't think you can compare the PBH to a Disney Hotel. It is like comparing apples to oranges. Don't get me wrong, the hotel was gorgeous & I would stay there again but it wasn't Disney. When we arrived at the GF on Tuesday the lobby was breathtaking with gorgeous holiday decorations & kids were running around like crazy. The PBH was quiet. They did have one restaurant there that catered to kids with a big screen TV, bean bag chairs & small
tables & chairs. My kids loved the beach pool here. They do have a Campo Portofino for kids. I would definitely go back there.
