Bachelor Jake -- no-spoiler thread

Here is an article about the mom from that "legitimate" news source US Magazine: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews/news/bachelor-star-viennas-mom-was-topless-dancer-1970241. It says that her mom was a topless dancer and now sells boiled peanuts on the side of the Route 46 in Florida.

I KNOW I saw a picture of the trailer itself yesterday. Ah! Here it is ... from the Enquirer: http://www.nationalenquirer.com/bachelor_finale_vienna_white_trash_mom/celebrity/68239

I love the part about how her mother likes to "smoke pot and drink Mountain Dew". Mountain Dew is clearly the devil's drink after all. :rotfl: You've gotta love the Enquirer - they always keep it classy.

I think Jake's "job" is reality tv....Bachelorette, Bachelor, DWTS....maybe next on to Jerry Seinfelds new show about referee'ing marriage? Liek I said before, they guy loves the spotlight.

According to Reality Steve, Jake is in fact a pilot, but his primary career is actually owning a limo company. I bet the limo company gives him lots of free time to pursue his reality tv ambitions. :rolleyes1

I didn't like either of the girls that Jake finally picked, but I think Vienna was the better fit of the two for him. Tenly was still not over her heartbreak of her previous marriage and I think finding something on a show like this was a bad decision.

I liked Ali on the show, but didn't get to see her in the house with the other girls and with Jake. I heard she left and now she's coming back to be the Bachelorette? I don't like that decision! I don't get why they didn't just pick one of the girls that stuck it out. I'll watch it when it comes out, but just to see what you guys don't like about her.

On to the next!

Have been a lurker on this thread, first time chiming in.

My thoughts on Vienna and Jake are they have an extreme physical attraction. How many times did he say they can't keep their hands off each other? He also said he always picks the wrong girl, the one with only physical chemistry and it never lasts.

This girl is no different. Vienna is the girl you cheat on your wife with because it's exciting and wild. Tenley is the girl you marry. Their physical connection may not be all hot and steamy, but he said a million times how emotionally connected they were. That's the girl that you have a lasting relationship with, once the physical attraction of Vienna wears off, there is nothing left.

He also said to the camera that he loved Tenley. He never said that about Vienna, just that he loved two girls.

I also don't buy Jake's family suddenly coming around to loving Vienna, give me a break!

I have to agree with this. Jake did say repeatedly that he and Vienna couldn't keep their hands off each other AND that he always chooses the girl with the hot, physical chemistry. I'm afraid he's going to find himself in that boat again and single. Tenly would've given him a happy, stable life and I think he would've been proud to call her his wife. I think he unfairly compared the 2 of them....Vienna made him feel all hot and bothered and he expected the same from Tenly. But when that fades, he's still stuck with a 23 year old who's been married before (out of spite) and now apparently has some trailer trash mom selling peanuts and smoking pot!

I feel horrible for Jake's family. What must they be thinking? All the trashy stories about Vienna, her past, her mother. Jake's mom must be flipping out. Her heart must be breaking to see those stories in the tabloids. Seriously, why didn't we see any trashy Tenly stories?? Because there weren't any.

Jake seems like the kind of guy who stands by his decisions. I think he will fight till the end to make his relationship with Vienna work. Did you all catch what he and Vienna's responses were to Chris' question about the future? Jake said they hadn't set a date but it would be soon. While Vienna said that they're basically going to take it slow and have some normalcy. Uh, that's 2 very different answers. I think she's going to string him along, milk her 15 minutes and then toss him aside. Yes, I did see their physical chemistry but I wouldn't call that a love story. When DH and I dated in college, we were crazy in love and couldn't keep our hands off each other too. But we also talked all the time, shared our dreams and thoughts and had the same morals and goals for our lives. Guess what? We're still happily married after 13 years.

I'm glad that Tenley and Gia are not going to be the next Bachelorette. Their personalities are not all that strong, the men would walk all over them. Ali has a strong personality but I'm not real pleased that she is going to be the next one. I think that I would have preferred some of the other women, like the one Jake let go with Ella (not Ella though) or the girl that he said last week that he wished he had gotten to know better. I think that she worked in a bar or restaurant or something.

Went over to EW.com and here is what Chris said last night in his blog:

It’s hard to believe this season is over. Maybe it’s because there have been a few things that have distracted our attention this time around, but it really seems like this season has flown by. I’m glad you all got a chance to be introduced to Jake’s family. I think once you see them and how they interact as a family it’s easy to see why Jake is the way he is. They are all such good communicators and you can see where Jake has gotten his skills. His parents fell in love with Tenley the moment she walked in the door. That’s not hard to believe as everybody who has met Tenley this season loves her and has nothing but good things to say about her. Jake’s family quickly put her in front and I honestly don’t think they gave Vienna much of a chance to succeed at first. The fact that Vienna was able to sway their opinion and convince them otherwise was really impressive. It’s actually ironic that what happened to Vienna in the house with the girls, happened again with Jake’s family. The only difference is that Vienna was able to make it right with Jake’s family.

This show has given me the opportunity to go to some pretty special and beautiful places. The island of Saint Lucia is high on that list. The people and the beauty of the island are just about as good as it gets. With that said, several of the crew kept trying to get me to go to those sulphur springs that Jake and Vienna went to. I know it looked romantic on TV, but that’s only because you couldn’t smell it. Everybody who came back from the sulphur springs said it was cool, but the sulphuric odor smelled like rotten eggs and it pretty much ruined whatever you were wearing. Needless to say, I passed. The crew gave me a bottle of the mud as a gift.

We spent the final week of our trip at the Jalousie resort. It sits in this beautiful cove nestled between the two pitons (those big mountains you see in all the shots). Between the scenery, the beach, the people, the food, and, of course, the rum, the Jalousie resort is easily one of the best we visited over the eight years we’ve been doing this show.

In my opinion, the last chance dates were very telling of Jake’s final decision. You could tell how easy it was between Jake and Vienna. You can also clearly see that he was always defending her and got very defensive when anybody didn’t see what he saw in her. Tenley is a wonderful woman and Jake did love her, but not nearly in the same way he loves Vienna. Even Tenley admitted on the AFR special that watching the show she too sees that what Jake has with Vienna is different than what they shared.

The proposal site was at a resort called Jade Mountain. This is the place where you saw Jake spending his final day and picking out his ring. We had to get to this site by water which meant bringing in the women by chopper (another Bachelor first). One thing that wasn’t shown was the choppers pulling right over my head and landing about twenty yards away from me. I was really hoping we had good pilots flying for us.

Walking Tenley over to meet Jake was tough. She was nervous and I knew she was very much in love with Jake. I’ve always been impressed by Tenley. But the way she handled herself that day, the poise she showed under that pressure was astounding. Having the grace to actually thank Jake for showing her how to love again is remarkable. Tenley is another person who has left this show with a new clear understanding of who they truly are and what they want. More importantly, I think she now knows what she deserves in return and that’s a big step for her.

Vienna got out of the helicopter shaking like a leaf. She was so nervous she could barely breathe. You could tell she had completely fallen in love with Jake and felt incredibly vulnerable. I have to say that bit where he gave her back that promise ring was a little cruel and it had her going but he quickly redeemed himself. It was easily one of the most beautiful proposals we’ve ever had on the show. I realize Jake’s choice and his proposal to Vienna surprised some of you and it’s even been called controversial. While I respect all of your opinions there is one thing I don’t get. How could anybody possibly have a problem with two people falling in love with one another and finding happiness together? I’m not saying you can’t be surprised or even think that one of the other women might have been better but now that he’s made his final decision and you see they are together and very much in love, how can you fault that? I can’t imagine telling anybody they’re an idiot for falling in love and finding happiness. How can that be wrong? I’ve already been asked if I think it will last. The answer is “I don’t know,” and to pretend that I do would be ignorant as well as presumptuous. What I do know is that Jake is a good and decent man and Vienna is a good woman. They love each other very much and are committed to making this work. I wish them the best in life and love and hope to see them walk down the aisle. I hope you will all wish them the same.

For some reason lately it’s become easy and somewhat in vogue to take shots at people and try to tear them down. I know happiness doesn’t sell magazines and it doesn’t make for sexy headlines but try to keep a little perspective. Congrats to Jake and Vienna, a happy couple who will now begin their life together.

A couple notes before I let you go this season. I loved having Jeffrey Osborne on the show to sing “On the Wings of Love.” The guy was awesome and still sounds amazing. Also, I was extremely excited to announce Ali as our next Bachelorette. She is a strong woman and will give the next group of guys a run for their money for sure.

Finally, next Monday night please be sure to tune in to see Jason and Molly’s wedding. This is going to be a wonderful event that will bring together many of your favorite former bachelors and bachelorettes. I was very pleased to be a part of their special day. Then, on Monday, March 15th I hope you’ll tune in to ABC to watch the two-hour 20/20 special that will take you behind-the-scenes of the Bachelor franchise like never before. While you have you’re calendar out, I also hope you’ll join me on the Oscar red carpet live from the Kodak Theatre this Sunday on TV Guide Network. Okay, I think that’s it! From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank our entire crew. On behalf of that crew, thank you so much for your support and for tuning in each week. Goodbye for now. I hope to see you this spring for the next season of The Bachelorette and see ya next season with my blogs right here on EW.com

I guess I'm about Jake's Mom's age and well... we deal with what our sons bring home. :sad2:

Smart moms know the scenario and let them make their own mistakes. Jake is no different than most males, thinking with the little head.. and at his age he should and can. He's not married yet and needs to sow his wild oats... unlike Tiger who did it before during and probably AFTER ;)

It is sad. I would imagine it would be heartbreaking to have one of your kids bring home a BF or GF that you just didn't like and thought was all wrong for them. I like Jake's family, they were fun and yet serious at the same time. It was obvious they have his very best interest at heart. His mom made valid points though about Vienna. If she has trouble getting along with other women, that can be a HUGE problem. Remember her hometown date, her father said that Vienna runs into that problem a lot. Warning! Warning! Warning! But instead, Jake apparently found that endearing. Bottom line is Jake should've paid more attention to what others were saying around him. Multiple people gave him a heads up, including his family. Jake, if you feel like you need to defend Vienna to everyone, then something's wrong. How can he dismiss all those raunchy pics of her? What man would want to see his future wife like that? Or even worse, what future mother-in-law would??:scared1:

He'll remember it later... hindsight is 20/20. :thumbsup2

I think Jake's "job" is reality tv....Bachelorette, Bachelor, DWTS....maybe next on to Jerry Seinfelds new show about referee'ing marriage? ....

....last stop - Jerry Springer.....

Ok ladies, I'm a tad confused here. Last night Jake asked Vienna what it was like to be married for 3 weeks. Everything I've read said that she was married for nearly 10 months during which time she supposedly took her husband's $ for a b**b job while he was in Iraq. Soooo, how long was she actually married for then? Jake seems to have gotten the impression is was very short. Does this make sense to anyone else or am I remembering it wrong?:confused3

My guess is that they were married right before he went to Iraq. So ... technically she was married longer but only with her husband for 3 weeks.

:rotfl2: Jake and his trailer trash in laws fighting over whether or not he's treating her like a "princess"....

JAKE!!! Your future is CALLING!!!

Well then, that would make sense. Although I still feel like Vienna gave the impression that she was married for a short amount of time. Maybe I'm wrong.:confused3 I'm trying to remember when she initially told Jake. It was something about her being engaged to her High School BF and then he married someone else so she went off to elope with some other guy because she was mad. Sheesh, if that didn't put up a red flag, I don't know what would. Then all the stories and pics coming out seem to paint the same picture. But I said before that Vienna is the bad girl that Jake seems to want. How do you build a lasting relationship though with a girl who runs off to marry some other guy out of spite, uses his money to get new b**bs, poses topless for a calendar, competes in some skanky bikini contest, worked for Hooters and whom other woman can't stand??:confused3
