I haven't started the pin collecting either, but I did buy that splash mountain pin to commemorate my first and only time on that ride

. I did buy a box of 12 pins on my last trip to the Disney Character Outlet store and may try to trade a few on our next trip. I'm a little afraid to start because I get a little carried away with my "collections" sometimes! I don't think that will happen because I've gotten a little "cheap" shall we say, in my old age. I did buy a few of those Jim Shore figurines (like in your pictures) and I'm making myself stick to a few that I really like.... we'll see how that goes! Thanks for the pictures! We're taking a last minute, long weekend trip in a couple of weeks and now I'm really looking forward to it (staying at POP).
PS: I really love your trip reports!
Thanks for loving our reports. We enjoy doing them. It is fun to re-live our good times. I know how much I enjoy seeing other people's pictures, as well, so that when I'm not in Disney World physically but I need to be mentally, then I can be. Hope that made sense. Sort of the "Calgon, take me away!" if you remember that commercial, only it's "Disboards, take me away!" with me.
I loved those figurines, and I wish I had the money to have a whole shelf full of them. I spent a lot of time looking, and I told Jill that I wished I could have a whole shelf of the Precious Moments ones and a whole shelf of the Jim Shore ones.
Check with
Glendamax and
snowbell, because they are also taking trips soon. You guys may have some days that overlap and you could meet up for a quick hello.
punkin413 - Did you get to buy that figurine? You're lucky, if so. I'm going to have to get one next trip, but I'm going to start with someone nicer than Capt. Hook. If I start a collection, I'll start with a good guy.
About meeting, let's wait and see what's going on with Kristi's softball, because if she's still playing, we may be going to see her. I will let you know, but it won't be until later next week.
scottny - She was very proud of her window. She already knows that a Diser's window must be decorated. We picked up some red, white, and blue stuff the last time they were here that we'll be using on our Fourth of July trip.
carrieannie - I love taking pictures of palm trees. I miss those from my St. Pete days. When I see my first palm tree in Florida when we drive to WDW, it gives me such a good feeling.
If I get a Precious Moments figurine, it will either be the Minnie Teacup one or the Dumbo one. Dumbo represents Brooklynn so well, because we always go straight to Dumbo on MK mornings, but I do love the Minnie in the Teacup one, too.
Such decisions.
I'm terrible at making choices.
I was picking out Brooklynn a Disney t-shirt the other day, and I couldn't decide between Cinderella, three Princesses, Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, and Minnie and Daisy. I got all four of them. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that my first one will be
both Teacup and Dumbo.
k_reile - What a perfect gift for a baby girl! I don't think you'll have much trouble talking your mom into buying those for a new little granddaughter. Note that I made you yellow tonight, so as not to give a boy or girl preference.
We find out next week! I can't wait to hear your exciting news, so don't forget in all of your excitement to come over here and tell us as soon as you find out. I mean, you can tell grandma first, but we're next! If I don't hear from you in a reasonable time, I'm probably going to fill your mailbox with PMs wanting to know!
Lovemy3babes - I do hate in when life gets in the way of my Dis fun. But then again, if I didn't have real life, I wouldn't have the money for Dis fun, so what's a girl to do???
swanslovedisney - Yes, Minnie in the Teacup is too cute! I probably won't be able to resist.
Stop me with the pin thing!!! I really do want to do it, just with the rides/attractions, but I'm not sure why I want to all of the sudden. I've never been into it, and I have no desire to trade, but I started looking at them (MAJOR MISTAKE!), and now I really would like to have some kind of box, like a shadowbox, to display them. I don't know who I'd even show them to, though, so that's what keeps me from jumping in. I have my plush dolls (the Mickeys and Minnies and Donalds and such) at school, and the kids love those, but I can't think that anyone would ever be interested in ride pins. Maybe while Disney is cutting things, they'll cut out pins
before I spend a lot of money on something I don't need.
Do you think I can make it through a ten day trip and not buy one? We shall see.
snowbell - We're on for a Dis meet, and we won't diss you. We'll be there somewhere in the massive crowds. We'll see which parks you're going to be at on which day and go from there. Or we could meet at a resort, which would be less crowded. We'll toss around ideas between now and then.
I'm sorry to hear that your tickets were so high. That's a lot of money!
pooh'smate - A tea party with our little ones - the simple things that life is made of!
moparop - Brooklynn is feeling better. She's got some more teeth coming in.
She and Jill met me in Chattanooga today for our third-grade field trip. We went straight to the penguins. Brooklynn says it a little different. She says, "Pwen-genth." She has the 'w' sound completely in the wrong place, and the 's' at the end is 'eth'. It's very wrong, and very cute. She just lit up with a smile every time one of those guys waddled to the edge and jumped in.
She cried when she couldn't get on the 'buth' with me. They had driven their car, and I had the pleasure of riding with 40 kids and assorted parents. It wasn't bad, though. The bus was one of those nice big ones with plush seats and DVD players down the rows. We watched movies coming and going, so it was all good.
Okay, I'm going to go make a chicken casserole. See you all later.
