Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

I love Spaceship Earth and those flowers are beautiful! I like your picture of the exit sign, Charlie mentioned that every Disney Exit sign is themed which I Find is fun!

Great update. I loved the picture of Brooklynn taking it all in. When I was 6 my parents and another family drove down to Florida from Maine and WDW was one of the places we went. I remeber that Epcot had just opened and not all of the World Showcases were open yet.

My Goodness!! Those pictures are great! I love the way the sun is reflecting off the ball! Did you see that little girl in the first picture looking at Brooklyn! a new friend. :goodvibes She looks like she is studying everything from the ride..:goodvibes Shes very smart!!:thumbsup2

I've been MIA so had to come check out your last few installments. You take such wonderful pictures. :) I think that it's pretty awesome that you teach 3rd grade. My oldest daughter is in 3rd grade this year. First year of standardized testing and all that fun stuff. ;) I love your Animal Kingdom celebration. You guys always do such fun things like that!

I really did not think I was going to be able to ride SE when I was just there. It was down for most of the day. Thank God I got to experience the new ride. I was scared that I was not going to like the updates, but they were great. They took a terrible picture of me though... my eyes were closed.

Great shot of SE... So many different points of view.

Friday night Disney alert - Don't forget the Travel Channel show tonight. I'm talking to you, Swans!

TCKK - I enjoyed the pictures of your Disney evening. I hope you'll have more to come between now and August.

punkin413 - I imagine you're too busy packing to be reading this, but if you are, here's a thought for you: It's almost time for you to go!!!

betswywdw - You will show us a picture if you do a tea party, won't you? I look forward to having many tea parties with Brooklynn in the years ahead. And if she has a sister or two that will be joining us, well, that'll probably be okay with me!

(Insert Jill saying, "Oh my gosh!" here. I've been after her to have another one, but she keeps telling me she has to at least get through the summer Disney trip before she thinks about that.)

VandyFan10 - It was fun watching Brooklynn. She was trying to say aquarium today, but that was a little too much for her. It was sort of like 'akeyum'. No matter how she says anything, it sounds very cute to me!

I can't imagine the places the Flat Brothers (Ray and Matt) will end up when you and punkin go!

carrieannie - We are finally seeing spring, but it is doing Drew in. Poor guy has allergies that make his eyes burn, and he sniffles and coughs. He has to stay in as much as possible and suck down the Zyrtec.

That little girl in the other stroller was staring at Brooklynn a lot. Two little Disers in the making - opening up Epcot while they're young!

BrittBritt - The men certified us long ago. Mostly they just ignore us and eat the food. No matter how we have it decorated, they never seem to mind helping us eat the food.

snowbell - I hope that November trip works, too. I'm anxious to see the BOMA pictures. As for the closed eyes on SSE, you'll just have to give it another try.

What did you buy when you were solo shopping on your trip?

micandminforever - As much as I try to forget them when I am not at school, I just have a teacher's mind, and thoughts of the kids and of teaching activities overcome me, even if I don't always want them to. This is actually a fun time of year, now that testing is finished. We've been studying animals, so there's a possibility my classroom could have several Animal Kingdom things in it right now.

pooh'smate - I am so excited for you as you plan your first Disney trip as a family. Every little thing will surely be magic for you as you share this place with your daughter. I hope you'll come back and share pictures. Just riding around and around on a pretend elephant is an amazing thing when sharing it with a little one you love!

You'll be able to get many good pictures with all the characters outside Playhouse Disney at certain times. Her little face will light up when you see the Playhouse Disney show. We haven't seen the new one that just started, because John wanted Jill to wait until he can go this summer to share that with Brooklynn. We did the old one twice this past year. The little ones are so cute dancing away!

dancin princess - I'm so sorry you won't still be at Pop when we come. You only have a few work days left. Take care of good old Pop for us while you're still there. You are so lucky to have this chance to work at WDW.

We're looking forward to Trail's End. It gets good reviews for just plenty of down home cooking. Trent has wanted to eat here for a while, so this is for him.

scottny - I like how that NY Dismeet is shaping up. I'm ready to see all of you guys together at World of Disney!

Nicole786 - Yep, even trashcans and bathrooms are themed at Disney World.

Everybody needs to go check out Nicole's pictures of New York.

Lovemy3babes
- I like third graders. They're old enough to do some things independently, but still young enough to not have serious attitudes. Unfortunately, the attitudes are coming in younger and younger. Our whole third grade in general this year is very talkative, and a lot of the girls are just mean to each other. I do not enjoy testing time. There is far too much pressure on the teachers.

Okay, that's it. I just wanted to remind everyone of tonight's show and catch up with communication.

Oh, and I forgot to say I hope declansdad and pooksma have a safe and fun weekend trip.

 actually, i just got finished mowing my yard and i'm dissing a little before dinner. 1 week to go......it's gonna be the longest week of my life!

If you think commenting on comments constitutes an update, you are sadly mistaken young lady!

Some of us are cheetahs when it comes to putting up pictures (you), and some of us are sloths (me).

And yes, we've studied animals this week.

I actually was loading pictures while I was watching the Disney special, and I had every intention of putting some up tonight. I started, but then I hit something wrong and it vanished, so I guess it wasn't meant to be for tonight. I'm so tired. I'll put up some tomorrow.

What did you guys think of the special? It was awesome to see all those nice options, but I think I'm going to relate more to next week's 'travel on a dime' theme.

I would definitely like to do the AKL safari. I think the guys would all enjoy the Richard Petty ride. The Wishes boat ride was nice.

Costa Rica looked interesting. I'm sure it is beautiful. .

There are probably cheetahs and sloths there, but I digress.

Good night!

it was cool, but i prefer planning my own vacations, thank you very much. that's half the fun for me! when that lady was talking about the VIP tour person thing and said, "i just don't see how we could do disney any other way now," i just rolled my eyes! gimme a break! i'm sure it was nice but i don't need someone holding my hand to enjoy disney world!!!

i'm definitely thinking the "on a dime" show is my down my alley, too!

The special was definitely nice to watch but I don't need Disney to tell me how to spend more money! LOL I guess i like the specials more when theyre informative about the parks and hotels like Unwrapped or Sam Brown!

punkin413 - I heard the neighbors whispering to each other from all the way up here about how nice the yard is looking. It sounded something like, "Finally, those people ...." and some other things.
Naah, not really. I heard the whispers, but they were kind.

You think this week will be slow, but it will probably fly by, because you will be running over in your mind a thousand last details. Next week, you will be in DISNEY WORLD with your sweet hubby having the time of your life. Lucky girl!

lets go update update update! its the weekend!

I've spent the night in time out for my grave error. I hope the following qualifies as a real update.

It has pictures and everything!

So, on Day 2, we opened Epcot. I forgot to mention that as soon as we got in, Jill did the Soarin' trot with the crowd and got Fastpasses, while the two less young ladies and the baby stayed back at the ball to wait.

Brooklynn made friends with the CM at SSE while we were waiting. She kept pointing up and saying, "At-cot," which the CM thought was fairly adorable.

Anyway, Jill came back with Fastpasses, and to refresh your memory, we rode this,

Brooklynn looked like this,

we had our heads put on things like this,

and now we're back to where we last left you.

The Florida sky looked like this, by the way.

Random pictures.

disneypics241.jpg

Can you find Brooklynn? She's leading the way!

disneypics242.jpg

Kay and Jill went to ride Test Track.

disneypics243.jpg

Brooklynn and I hung out at the gift shop. Then we went in to see all the cars, and she climbed in and out of a few while we waited.

We decided to go see some old friends.
In Disney language, we were going to make a magical connection.

disneypics254.jpg

I just love the Minnie always is with Brooklynn. She's always so sweet and gentle. I don't know if we've just gotten really lucky with all of the Minnies we've had or if that sweetness is part of the Minnie training program. Whatever it is, I am always just captured by the way Minnie has interacted with Brooklynn in every park at any time of day.

disneypics256.jpg

Chip and Dale were ADHD. They were very active. I think it was a little disconcerting to Brooklynn.

disneypics257.jpg

We didn't do Photopass pictures this time, and I'm sorry about that, because I now wish I had a good picture of Brooklynn and Minnie.

Now it was time for my favorite - SOARIN'!!!

Note that I wrote that in sky blue! Because that's where we were going. Into the sky!!!

disneypics264.jpg

Kay has been hang gliding for real, so I wasn't sure if she would think it was as awesome as I do, but she liked it. She and I rode, and then later in the day, with our babyswap pass, Jill and Kay rode.

Kay liked it a lot, and it was after that that she started talking about bringing her whole family for a Disney vacation.
We started figuring the cost for her and her husband, her four grown children and two spouses, and two grandchildren.
She said, "Yikes!" or something equivalent to that as we did the figuring.

I snapped pictures along the way in Soarin', just to see what they'd do. I had the camera in my lap, and I just snapped here and there.

That came out quite interesting. Seasoned veterans will know exactly where you are on the ride. If you've never ridden Soarin', you'll have no idea what is happening.

After Soarin', it was time for nutrition.

disneypics303.jpg

Or lack of nutrition, but just plain old sweet goodness.

Next up: Living with the Land.

After our morning sweet treat, it was time to go to another of my favorites.

I enjoy Living with the Land. I'm a wannabe gardener, but neither my left nor my right thumb is green. I have always envied people who have these awesome gardens that spring forth beautiful red tomatoes and tender corn and big green cucumbers and huge, leafy heads of lettuce.

My excuse is time. It takes time to care for and weed those gardens, and I don't have a lot of that.

I console myself by going to the roadside markets that are abundant in this area, and buying much produce from them. If it still has a little dirt on it, that's the one I want. I can pretend I went out back and picked it. There's something so earthy about buying and cutting your own produce. It's better than just cutting open a bag and throwing it in a pan.

I have gone on this ride many times, and I have enjoyed it every time. I liked it better when the CMs narrated, though.

I like the way the sun looks and feels coming through the roof. I have ridden it one time only at night, and that was a completely different experience. I hope to do it one of each way this summer.

I like the cleanness.
I like the perfect rows of plants.
I like the signs.
I like seeing Mickey head pumpkins in progress.
I like this ride.
Bear with me, because I'm pretty much taking you on the whole ride with me here. If you don't like it, just scroll through quickly.

The most terrifying part of this ride for me, being claustrophobic:

disneypics332.jpg

I hate that part. I always have to turn away. It bothers me just even seeing the pictures. So why do I take them?

Alligators. Brookie loves alligators. Not a good picture, though.

Maybe after I retire, I can have time to plant a nice garden. Many years ago, I did have tomato and cucumber plants in the backyard, because they're easy and hardy. Only thing is, they enticed snakes, and we ended up with a baby snake in the house. So, I didn't plant the next year, and then time just became a factor.

I still envy good gardeners and beautiful gardens. And I think I will always enjoy Living with the Land.

For some reason, I feel like I want to go eat a big salad now.

Great update!!

I really enjoyed those Land pics. I haven't been on that ride in several years. Don't do it each time. :confused3

I'm DEFINITELY going to try to take the 'Soarin' pictures this next trip....I would love for just ONE of those to come out decent b/c that's one of my favorite rides too!!

:thumbsup2 Great update, MeMom. I love all the pictures makes me feel like I am there. I love the one on Brookie kissing Pluto's nose. It is so cute.

great update and pics.

I am not a veteran of the ride, only been once.

the pluto pic I thought was cute.

Great pics MeMom and great update! I agree with you guys about the Disney Special Friday. We taped it and just finished watching it a little while ago. It was neat to see, but I think next weeks will definitely be more up our alley :lmao:

Loved the pictures of the Land. The last time my dh and I were at EPCOT the Land ride was having problems and instead of telling us about the problem the CM told us the plants were not awake yet come back later. I thought that was so cute.

dancin princess - I'm so sorry you won't still be at Pop when we come. You only have a few work days left. Take care of good old Pop for us while you're still there. You are so lucky to have this chance to work at WDW.

We're looking forward to Trail's End. It gets good reviews for just plenty of down home cooking. Trent has wanted to eat here for a while, so this is for him.

I'm sorry too, imagine what it would have been like if i checked you in. As of today i have 4 working days left. I'm glad i had this opportunity. I wish i didnt have to stop being a CM but there isnt anything in WI as far as i know. In the future when i come back to FL for my own Disney Vacay i will try to go to Trail's End. That is after i read your review.

I enjoyed your Land pictures because i never get to see it in person. No one ever wants to go to on the Land ride. Oh well, maybe who knows, far far in the future, when i have kids, i'll bring them and they will want to go on the Land ride.
