Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

Hey we were just impressed to see grass in your photos!
:rotfl2:
And that sweet little girl of yours.:cutie:

This building suggested we eat,

but since we had already done that, we scurried on toward the safari.

We were on our way for a two week safari that lasted less than thirty minutes.

The lion was very asleep. He didn't move a muscle.

These are mixed together and not necessarily in correct safari order, because I got a few from Jill's camera and a few from mine.

I so much enjoy doing the safari. I would love to do the AKL sunrise tour someday.

We didn't see a lot of activity on that tour, and nothing "special" happened, like getting stopped by an ostrich or any animal coming right up to the jeep. It was just an ordinary safari, but even ordinary is spectacular to me. I love just watching the animals go about their routine. They are just out there being beautiful examples of God's handiwork. I think it would be neat to have the job of touring and educating school groups who come to Disney on field trips.

We would see much more activity on another safari later in the week.

I with you, the safari is one of my favourite things to do. I just wish it was longer.

Glad you joined in with us on our new pre-trip report.

OMG Brooklynn's hair is getting long, she's adorable. :cutie:

Great pics so far and Mmmmm the pizza made me hungry.

It looks like you guys had a great Easter! :goodvibes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cathy, what a lovely family pic. Your littlest girls have grown so much since your TR! Great Crocs too! :thumbsup2
mandy200587 - I hope your move went well. Don't spend too much time away from the Disboards! Nashville has been rather cold lately. I kinda liked the 80s we had in Florida.
Nicole786 - I had no idea our trips were going to overlap. We so would have met up with you! We will get to do it in the future, surely. I'm ready to hear about this trip, so get those pictures going as soon as you can!
pooksma and declansdad - Not only do we have grass, it's shaggy and ready to be cut. Drew wasn't happy to hear about that, since he's the resident mower. I'm all ready to hear about the plans for your August trip. I know you guys will have fun. I hope you like POFQ. Jill and John will be staying there in October. The picture of Declan is cute. He's getting taller in every picture you show!
kaysmommie - One day I'm going to have a good camera that can do the safari animals justice. I want one that gets every detail, every wrinkle in their skin. I want to be able to look at them and feel like I am right there.
Scott's getting a new 'crib' everybody!
(See how cool I am about today's lingo? Or maybe crib is old? Who knows? I know I've heard it on TV as I'm quickly flipping through to the only few channels I watch - Disney Channel, Travel Channel, HGTV, The Learning Channel, Animal Planet. Yep, that's about it.)
Maybe, anyway. He thinks he's moving to an apartment twice the size of the one he has now. Lots more room for Disney souvenirs, I guess! :)
carrieannie - Precious is spelled presh - us. Ain't nuttin' hard about that! Thanks for the compliment. I always have said we never had an ugly baby at our house! :)
Lurrrvthe Duck - Her hair is growing and her sassiness is growing right along with it. She's a little treasure chest of fun and knowledge. She can repeat anything you say, and she's got a memory like you wouldn't believe. We walked by ASMusic's food court, and she said "bikket". We had eaten biscuits there one morning on our Christmas trip, and she remembered that. It's a good thing she's got a good memory, because mine is not so good. I'll know who to ask when I lose things from now on! She'll know.
She kept saying "Cammo" on the bus, pointing out the window. We saw no camel in sight, not out in the street or on a picture or anything, so we had no idea what she was talking about. Jill figured it out after she got home. Brookylnn was in the car seat, and Jill was talking about Disney World (imagine that!), and she was saying Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc., and when she said Animal Kingdom, Brooklynn squealed, "Cammo!" So, we now know that she was thinking we were going to Animal Kingdom when we got on the bus, because that girls loves her animals.
Lurrrv, you will be happy to know that 'Dondle' is one of her favorites!
Now for the newest news on the home front.
I found out that this is the last time we're getting the entire week break for Thanksgiving, and the next year we're back down to three days.
SOOO, I figured we should try to use this chance to get in that Thanksgiving trip we have been wanting to do, eating at Liberty Tree Tavern on Thanksgiving Day. Wouldn't that be awesome? I hope we can get an ADR.
I talked to Jill, and she thought we should stay at All Star Music so John could get the feel of it, since his family is wanting to take an all-family trip in the next few years, and they are thinking that might be a good place to stay.
So, for the sake of research for John's family and me not having to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year (because I'm sure I'll be tired and all), we went ahead and booked!
I got the friendliest CM ever on the phone, too, so that was a day brightener. She said I needed to come down and work for Disney. She loved it!
I'm happier now than I was yesterday, because now I know that on July 7th, when we leave Pop Century, it won't be a whole 'nuther year before I get to go back. I think if we can manage two trips a year, I'll be okay.
Anwyay, that's our good news for today. :cheer2: I'll add it to my signature later. I have to go teach :teacher: so I can pay for all this madness!!
Yay!!!!! I'm so excited for you. We only have ever gotten a long weekend for Thanksgiving here. Tell Drew I'll send a few of these down to help him with the grass. Most mornings around 10 am there are 10-14 in our backyard.
I do hope we get it. :thumbsup2
And yes it would be more Disney things as I would have an office. :woohoo:
congrats!!! that's awesome! we're going down december 3rd - 8th. what are your dates? i know that's after thanksgiving but i thought there may be a chance we'll overlap?
I think if we can manage two trips a year, I'll be okay.
:rotfl2: this just cracked me up! when i told DH i was going in september with erica, he just could not believe his ears and was saying, "don't you think that's a little excessive?" i explained to him that i needed to make full use of my AP before it expired in september and i used you guys as an example! :rotfl:
I haven't moved just yet, I'm stuck in my town till July my sister is moving up in a few weekends. I'm missing the 80 weather but it will be back to that by end of this week.
I wish we'd overlap, but we have to come back by the 30th. I hate that!
Using us as an example would be very scary, Trent would say. And Drew. And John.
I think you either have it or you don't when it comes to Disney. I bet Ray would be happy to go several days/weeks/months a year doing something he loved - a sports event or whatever. Someone else might like to go hunting every weekend or fishing or whatever. We like Disney. If I weren't ten and a half hours away, I'd be there more! We manage to do something new every time, too, to add to the excitement.
I say get in as many trips as you can with your AP.
You can quote me on that. :)
i already have! :rotfl2:
he's okay with it now. i told him i'm not high maintenance: i don't have to have designer clothes, lots of purses, i don't get my nails done, i only get my hair cut like every other month.......i can treat myself to this! plus we made a deal. i told him i would match him on the money i'm spending on that september trip and he can spend it on whatever he wants. he agreed. the thing is.....the only thing i have to pay for is gas (split with erica) and the hotel (split with erica). food will be free (if they offer free dining) and i have an AP......:teacher: i think i got a good deal out of it! :laughing:
Nothing in Disney is ordinary... even just sitting on a bench watching the people go by is extraordinary at Disney. I love the flower and garden picures.... they came out really nice.
That lion is always sleeping... lol
Yay for another trip!
I'll be there at Thanksgiving also...at pop!
That's great! I hope we can plan to meet sometime during that week. I have a feeling there will be a lot of coming and going with us. The boys will have to work out their work/girlfriend/friend schedules, and Jill and John won't be able to come until later in the week because of their jobs. I am hoping that everyone can be there together for Thanksgiving Day, but we'll take what we can get, I guess.
pooksma - You must have a big yard! Drew would indeed like some help in keeping the grass low. In the summer, it has to be cut about every four days when we get rain. Sometimes we have long, dry spells, though, and it does nothing. He likes dry spells!
snowbell - I feel the same way about everything being extraordinary in Disney World. Just a regular everyday walk around the resort in the morning brightens my day. I absolutely feel at home there - completely in my element.
The girl who booked us yesterday was the sweetest CM I have ever talked with. We talked about all our Disney trips, and she said I should come down there and work for them, because they loved people who were enthusiastic about Disney. I would love to do that, because I really need a change from the stresses of teaching elementary school, but that would put my kids and Brooklynn too far away. If they were closer and I could make enough money to pay my bills, I think I'm at a point that I would give it a try.
I think I'm kind of stuck here, though. I have a secure job, and I do have the vacation benefits which many people don't have. Even with teaching summer school, I still have a long vacation. My house payment is low, because I've been here 21 years. So, it's best for me to stay here and just enjoy Disney as I do now, by going as often as I can. I would also be a bit afraid of spoiling the magic by working there, I guess.
A co-teacher has a daughter there in the CP program. She loves it! She has met so many new people and they go to the parks all the time. She wants to do a CP in Disneyland next year. If I were still in college, I don't think I would hesitate to go work for Disney, but at my age, I'll just visit often and hope that special feeling never goes away.
And to you and declansdad on the animatronic lion, we found out a good secret on our second safari about when to see him up and about. We'll share that later. He was really up and about on the second trek.
punkin413 - Me, too. Quite low maintenance and will spend very little money at home. I do not hesitate to spend mass quantities of money on Disney trips, though. It sounds like your trip is going to be very cheap anyway, so that's even more reason to go!
mandy200587 - When the hot weather gets here, we'll be moaning about AC bills! When is your next Disney trip? Do you ever go to Gatlinburg? I've thought about going there for a weekend, but I always end up saying no, because I'm saving for a Disney trip.
Lurrrvthe Duck - Brookie is smart in a lot of ways. And I'd say that even if I weren't her doting MeMom. She's going to do well in school, like her mommy. We predict she will have the box by 'controls talking' checked on her report card a time or two, however. :) She's such a sweetie.
scottny - We will definitely look forward to seing a new Disney office. That will be very cool! We have a back room that is just an extra storage room that has all our Disney stuff. When I need a fix, I can come back here (it's where we keep the old computer) and look at a Mickey Mouse TV, MM curtains, Disney stuffed animals, toys, etc. It's still just a junk room, because this house is so old there aren't big closets, but someday maybe I can fix up a nice Disney room. One day when I get rid of a couple of big old food-gobblin' boys, that is!
I hope I got everyone. I will check better later. I'm already behind on getting ready this morning.
