We are buying in November but my DH asked me this question and I told him I'd ask...

What are the chances of getting a 1br at only a week--maybe few days out? I would of course take whatever DVC is available. Would this be tough to do?

Thanks.

It all depends on what resort. The first week in November would be impossible with the F&W going on. If I were to guess I think you have a pretty good shot at OKW or SSR.......maybe even the other resorts with people having to cancel....

I would make your chances about 0. If you buy in Nov. it will take some time to close and have your deed recorded, I don't see how you could book a stay for Nov. :confused3

If you are asking if you can make last minute reservations, we do it all the time, but not typically for a week at a time.

on a few occasions, we move to a different resort, which can be a hassle, but we also get a freshly cleaned room!

Maybe I didn't make my question clear...

Have most had luck getting reservations at short notice--only days maybe a week out? I would take any DVC available at the time.

It really does depend on the season you are talking about . For example, a trip planned on short notice for Thanksgiving through New Year's Day is probably impossible, but a last minute plan anytime during August and September you are very likely to get something. Of course ANY holiday time is probably not available that way, and mostly March and April will be impossible because of spring breaks.

And your willingness to move and take what is available. Some people have trips booked last minute where they move two or three times and have a few nights at a cash resort. If you are looking for a full specific week, that may be a whole lot harder than a weekend or one or two nights in a two or three week period.

Thanks everyone. I think I got my answer. It would only be for a few days--certainly not a week at a time so I might be ok. I would be willing to move maybe once.

We just had 6 days planned and I added 3 days in Aug at the last minute. We had 2 days at one resort and 1 day at another, moving was really not the hassle that I thought it was going to be. We loved seeing the 3 resorts.

When we bought our guide, Mario told us we could book immediately. The member number comes through and you are able to book before you even sign the contracts!

I agree you can book, but unless things have changed, you cannot stay on points until after closing.

I just got off the phone with MS. I made a studio reservation at OKW for Sept 27 & 28. :woohoo:
