This is something that my DW and I do. We buy post cards each day we are at WDW and send them to our parents. They enjoy hearing from us and seeing what we are doing.
Last year we were a 1900 Park Fare for breakfast. The post cards were laying on the table and the Mad Hatter came by. He wanted to see the cards and what we had wrote. He read the cards and made comments of what we were sending home. Since we are not autograph hounds, he wanted to sign the post cards. So we let him and sent the cards home.
We had an idea. We bought cards and didn't write anything ourselves. We had the charcters that we meet during the day sign the cards and we sent these home to our parents. All the charcters that we had sign asked what we were doing, having them sign postcard. We told each of them that we were sending then to our parents and they all thought that this was a great idea. In fact most made a fuss over when picture was on the card.
It took our parents a day or so to figure out what was going on, but after they did they loved the cards. In fact they have keep these cards out in the open and showed them to anybody that they could rope in.
This year we are going to do the same thing and might send ourselves some autographed post cards.
The people we sent them to loved them and the charcters loved signing them.
