I know August is classed as rainy/hurricane season but if we go begining of August do you think we will be ok with the weather? :thumbsup2

What sort of weather/temperature should we expect?

hi
we went last august and the first week was glorious but then came ts fay and it was tropical rainn for about 8 days not stop rain!
Have been once before in Aug and tbh would not pick that month again Iwould like to go early sept but this has always been impossible with schools, colleges etc. Also in aug you will have high humidity and the parks are packed.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
You can expect the temperatures to be extremely high, could be just under or over 100 degrees.

Getting to the theme parks early and generaly visiting at cooler/quieter times of the day are essential.
Many only visit in the summer holidays because it's the only time they can go.

Sorry not trying to put you off, just giving an honest appraisal, you can go in August and have a fantastic holiday if you follow the usual guidelines, but unfortunatley isn't the ideal time to go if you struggle in the heat.
Visiting theme parks at cooler/quieter parts of the day, wearing loose comfortable clothing, taking advantage of the air-conditioned indoors, drink plenty of water, have a mid day rest back at your villa/resort..are some of the standard tips for hotter times of the year.

Storms are frequent, usually they are short afternoon heavy downpours but predicting the climate these days can be more difficult as the weather pattern seems to change every year.
With Florida climate being the way it is there is always a degree of uncertainty - whatever happens you will be in for a great time I am sure.

A lot of the above to a degree depends on your tolerance to the temperatures, some love it and some cope with it as best they can.

August 2007 was fantastic for us, it was scorching hot and there was not very much rain. The heat is ok as there are so many places with air that you can get out of it when you need to. Last year the weather was rubbish, the first couple of days were ok and then as the person before said it rained and rained! I think that is fairly unusal tho and I am hoping this year will be lovely again :goodvibes

Have done two augusts now and not much i can add to the above. Very hot at all times, when the rain kicks in it is a terrential downpour but mostly it has been afternoon storms for about an hour then eased off, you can literally have blazing sunshine till 3pm then all of a sudden clouds from nowhere and its like two different places:lmao: i will say that once the rain has done, you can feel quite sticky, the humidity rises fast! i had to change clothes every day to feel fresh for evening and would not have wanted to stay in a park for the night like that. having said all that air conditioning is everywhere and sometimes in too much effect, like a couple of restaurants i would gladly have had a cardi with me. I did get caught out in the heat at Downtown Disney waiting for a bus one lunchtime and i thought I was going to pass out. and i distinctly remember coming back from aug 07 and saying thats it, done two aug now, never again, its too hot. well here i go again, aug 09:lmao:

having said all of the above, yes it is manageable. Early morning park touring, get out in the worst of the heat and enjoy the pool or nap (the heat was really draining and made me so sleepy) and then loved the evenings. everything was open so late and is so pretty with all the lights.

Have been October and last two weeks of August and was very worried about heat/hurricanes etc in August but we had rain once and it was hot but we did early mornings, afternoons by pool and out again in the evenings with the free dining and we had blue sky after blue sky. We have been in October several times and last time we had Hurricane Wilma and then a cold front and so we felt go in August if we have a hurricane at least it will be warm afterwards!!
We had less queues and its hot but there is a/c everywhere. We are going back in August again next year.. We are stuck with school hols but love free dining and worked out we would have spent $950 dollars on food!!! so def worth it for us.
We also went to the beach for a couple of days, and its low season on hotel costs in august and it was heavenly!

Have a ball, havent written on boards for over a year but its so nice to do so!
all the best,
prue:)

we went every year in july/august for about 15 years straight (that was when we could go)..

the weather is about like the surface of the sun in terms of heat...
the humidity is beyond what you ever thought possible (100% humidity 100% of the time).....
you'll sweat more than you have in your entire lifetime....

having said that, we always had a great time!!
you have to know how to manage the heat....
get to the parks before opening and leave by about 1 in the afternoon (to rest in your hotel and take a dip in the pool)..then return in the later afternoon/evening...

and the more obvious ones - drink all the time and wear a hat (no matter how stupid you might look in one)...

it's possible.....it's hot....but it's possible..

as for crowds...the crowds begin to let up in the middle of august (when kids start going back to school in some places in the US)....they're not nearly as bad as during july...

bottom line for us - we have fun there no matter the time, no matter the crowds, no matter the weather...
we do enjoy it more in september/oct/november, but sometimes there just isn't a choice as to when we can be there..
