August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

Thank you, Tara! You are awe-inspiring with your updates and cheering people on!

Yay you, Cathy!! You make me want to have that feeling again, to HAVE to buy SMALLER clothes! Not the size up like it has been this past year!:rolleyes1

Still have to get to my workout today. Kids didn't go to camp, so it threw my schedule way off. Ohwell, there is still time left in the day!:laundy:

Sorry everyone. Need to bow out of this thread :( I have been having foot tendon issues and am now in a cast until the week before we go. I need to exercise to lose weight so it will just have to wait until fall. Take care and good luck with your weight loss journeys!

Sorry to see you go Jen! I hope you are totally healed by your trip! August 20th will be here before you know it! Check back in the fall. I'll definitely still be losing...lots of pounds left that won't be gone by trip time! (Especially with my back - Getting better, but no hard core exercise for me before trip time either.)

Also, a mistake I've made in the past has been to say "Oh, well I can't exercise so I'll worry about weight-loss later" and I just end up packing it on. You can still eat well and not gain weight (or even lose really slowly) even when you can't exercise much. Good luck!

Well, yesterday was only a 5 minute walk. But today I more than made up for it!!! Love to start the day with a good paced walk outdoors!!

Jen, even if you can't workout, no need to leave this thread... right everyone!? Just being back this bit, I have found it to ve so motivational!

You don't have to go! Stay on with us as a "nutritional consult"...but don't leave! Just because you can't exercise doesn't mean you can't stay on with us for the motivation. It won't be the same without you!

Just stopping in to say Hi and wish everyone a healthy weekend. Weekends are always a bit harder for me. I prefer the work week for sticking to the diet.

I really am getting exciting for WDW :banana:we leave on the 20th and I can't wait for a BIG SALTY PREZTEL :cool1::cool1: I plan on treating myself to 3 of them during our 10 day stay if I get to 159lbs before I leave. This morning I was 165 on the scale fully dressed for work, but as usual I don't count it until I go to the clinic to be weighed. Next official weigh in is on Monday.

Cathy, I love the idea of little gifts to reward yourself on your trip :) I decided last night after looking at coffee makers (I think I'm gonna ask for a Keurig for Christmas this year, haha!) that if I make it to goal for my trip (in 51 days!!) I'm gonna treat myself to a french press to make coffee in the morning while I'm there. I have a ways to go, but I've really set myself to this goal. I just keep thinking of all the yummy coffee I can drink while I'm waiting for the bus in the morning. I'm gonna bring my own creamer, it's gonna be so good :goodvibes I've gotten so ridiculous since I started this new job- I have to be up so early and so I do need coffee, and now I'm like "I need special creamer for my coffee, or I can't function, where's my coffee??"

I can't wait to use my new french press in Disney in 51 days:cool1::goodvibes

:wizard: I just found this thread and have been reading through the posts. This is great! I started walking the last few weeks in order to get in shape for WDW in August. I need to drop some weight, too, but have mainly been concentrating on building stamina for our upcoming trip. I only have 11 days to go! I wish I found this thread sooner...My goal is to lose 10-15 lbs and increase strength and endurance.
Good luck to all!!

Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me sticking around.

I have started finally loosing and am down 6lbs. I have added exercise as well. I had 2 walking buddies but since the summer our team broke up. We are looking forward to a fall start but in the meantime Zumba.

My goal is 25 lbs by October trip!!!!

Maria:)

It's getting sooo close! We're so excited too! Good job on reaching the 165! I hit a new low today but it was only .4 lbs down. Haha! I'm actually ok with that. I've been so afraid of gaining with this back thing. Making major progress with it and should be completely healthy by Disney (25 more days for us! Oh my!)

Great idea Kaiti! What is your goal for the next 51 days?

Great job on the walking! 11 days is so soon! Yay! Thanks for joining! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Welcome Maria! Good luck with the 25 lbs by October trip! You can do it! We're here if you need us!

Great idea Kaiti! What is your goal for the next 51 days?

My goal is another 12lbs, at least according to my "Official" weigh-in count. I do think it will go down considerably after this week; I'm having my monthly visitor right now, so it affects the scale a little bit :-/ I am keeping my eye on some presses on Amazon right now...eyes on the prize! I am really trying hard to get into the 170's right now, walking as often as possible, eating right (except for a couple times, tsk tsk) and trying to incorporate Pilates back into my routine for toning. The heat is killing me though! I need to get a routine back, I really miss it. I could really tell the difference when I did it, even in just the way I felt on a regular basis. I feel like I'm backsliding and I really don't like that feeling at ALL. This has to be the week to kick it up into high gear and KEEP it there. We just paid off the trip this morning () so it's no givesies-backsies at this point.

So it's time for someone to start coming down on me....and if you guys want to do it, I would LOVE it. I understand if you don't want to, but I kinda need someone to be a little harsh. PM me, I'll give you my number to text me, whatever. And I'd be willing to do the same for you too if you'd like to! Not the harshness if you don't want to, but I feel like I need to be more accountable. And you ladies are amazing to be accountable to and for. Any takers?

Here's to a FABULOUS On Plan Week with TONS of success for all of you!

I have been where you are. I made excuses for myself for years and went from 125lbs to 195lbs and stayed there for 14 years. I was the queen of excuses. I would workout but..... just one won't matter.... but it is a party... I am really happy with myself the way I am... and my list goes on and on. Finally one day I said enough is enough.

I hate when my mom who is diabetic makes excuse as to why she can't workout. Here she was with a serious disease that could go away if she just got off her bottom and worked out according to her Doc and everyday I would hear the excuses as to why she did nothing again. I love my mom but I will not become her!!!:scared1:

Yes I choose to go to a medical weight loss clinic and paid $1000 to lose weight but what did I really get for my money. A magic pill ? NO... I got a sensible diet and accountabilty the same thing you have here with this group. I have to weigh in 3 days a week and the scale does not lie. If it does not move it is my fault.

If you really want this, wishing will not work!!! Moving, eatting healthy and not lying to yourself will work.

Hope this is not too harsh and helps:hug:

....Oh, you're good, I like that! I'm gonna go work out right now! Pilates, here I come!!!

Thanks! :grouphug: I will be heading to the pool for some laps and another 3 mile walk tonight. Just spent the morning cleaning out my closet of all Size 14 and up. There is no going back now. If I gain weight I will not have any clothes. 12's will be going to charity by the end of September.

I have a question for those of you who walk. When you go out walking do you time yourself or measure the length of the walk? Use a pedometer?
I walked for an hour one day and did almost the same route in 35 mins this morning. I'm not sure what my walking goal should be...any suggestions?

I drive my car on the route I take and the the cars odometer measure it for me.

As for a goal, I do not have a specific distance or time. I just walk at a speed and distance that makes it difficult for me to have a conversation or sing if I have my ipod with me. I try to maintain that for at least 20 minutes and then slow a bit for the cool down. This seems to happen for me when I walk 3 miles in about 40 minutes.

I've done that before, too. I think a lot of it has to do with when you walk- you're not as tired in the morning, and right now it's not so hot at 7am when I walk then. The weather has a lot to do with it right now, I think.

:wizard:Thanks! I'll just try to figure out a route and try to drive it. I'm a little annoyed with myself that I didn't walk today. I had to babysit my grandchild so didn't have time this morning. It was very hot here all day so walking with the stroller was out. I planned to do it after dinner but had to run out with DH. I was very busy chasing that toddler around all day but it's not the same. Tomorrow is a must!!

Ok, we want to know every detail of the exercise you do and how your eating is this week! You can do it!

You ARE good! Not too harsh at all! I've had a bit of a bad weekend but have been re-inspired once again by logging on to DIS! Thanks!

Me too! For the first time in 3 weeks (back issues) I can start walking again (well I've been walking to get around but I meant longer distance/faster for exercise.) No jogging or jumping still but I'm happy to start walking again - plan starts tomorrow morning! I really enjoyed swimming too when I was at my sister's last week but no pool here unless I want to head to the over-chlorinated stinky indoor pool (which I will do when the bad weather comes and I can't walk outdoors). I'm also doing my stretches and strength exercises. Want to lose at least a FULL pound this week!

I know it's still early, but I'm already a little frustrated this week. Usually at this point I've lost about a quarter of a pound, and so far nothing  I've been eating the right things and exercising at LEAST 30 minutes a day since Friday, but nothing is happening! I'm way too impatient for ths slow nonsense.

I am not giving up though. I actually have an exercise "date" this afternoon, and I'm going to sit down and take a look at my food- that's been the biggest change since I've been back from Virginia. I can tell I'm hungry a lot more often than I was before I went. But I am keeping my water and fruit/veggie intake high, and keeping my workouts up too. Maybe if I'd stay OFF the scale, I'll see something more encouraging next time I get ON it!
