August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

My weight today was 176.4!! That's the lowest in a long while. I did spend a good chunk of 2010 around 176 (then started gaining throughout the fall and winter). It might be a point of resistance for me since my body seemed to be comfortable at that weight. I'll have to work hard to break through it. I'm hoping to lose a couple more pounds before the 23rd which it looks like I can do since I lost a couple this week alone. (The low carb thing worked ok!) Then that won't be too far off my original goal of being in the 160's for my trip.

Taking a break today though...family reunion. Not going to go crazy like I used to but after a really good week, I'm not going to feel guilty having the meal and maybe a bit of treats!

CONGRATS :cheer2: You are doing great!! I bet by the time you return from WDW you will be well in to the 160's. Between the heat and walking I have a feeling we all will be returning to report losses.

We arrive on the 22nd.... can hardly stand the wait.

If any of you see a family with a woman(me) and daughter (16 but looks older) that look alot alike, both short 5'3", brown long hair, and rather curvey(nice way to say big ****s).. along with my DH clean cut guy 44yrs old and teenage son with glasses that will be my family. I will be carrying a Coach cream and golden swingpack bag. Please feel free to stop me and ask if I am Riverhill (aka cathy)
 
:wizard: I have a question for all of you....do you use artificial sweeteners?
I love sugar in my coffee, etc and really prefer not to use artificial sweeteners but know I have to cut back on the sugar intake. Has anyone tried the new ones that are supposed to be "natural"? I have a feeling reducing my sugar will help me lose faster...

I've tried to limit my artificial sugars, but I still use Sweet n'Low in my morning coffee. My thoughts would be (and they might not be right, keep in mind!) that sugar can't be as bad for you as artificial sweeteners because sugar is a natural substance anyway. Your body can recognize and process sugar much better than say, high fructose corn syrup.

If it's a big concern for you, I would try sweeteners like agave nectar. I think they're fairly low on the glycemic index, and they're natural. I'm starting to find them in most grocery stores in the sugar aisle.

Thanks Cathy! And thanks for the family description! I will definitely keep an eye out for you to say hi! Especially at Kona on the 24th! I think you'll be arriving as we're leaving type of thing so we can cross paths and say hello!

If I don't see you but you see us, feel free to say hi! I'm 5'5 and also curvy - ;) love it! I have medium length brown hair that will be either curly or in a tiny messy bun (can't wear it straight in humidity). I'll be with a large (nearly 6 foot 245 lb) but handsome (if I do say so myself) man and a light brown haired 7 year old and a blond 5 year old. We'll all be giddy with excitement for that night will be our first and we'll be heading to MK!

About the artificial sweeteners - I agree with Kaiti that a bit of sugar in coffee isn't a problem. It's all the sugar and white grains we eat in processed food that's bad! Having said that, my DH uses Stevia sometimes - it's natural and super extra sweet. A tiny tiny bit goes a looooong way!

Now, I've been avoiding an update on my progress cause I've had a little slip. Family reunion Sunday started fine but ended with lots of candy - very regretful! Then yesterday was DS's 5th birthday so I ate well all day then allowed myself pizza, chips and cake at dinnertime. Needless to say, the scale beheld unhappy news today (hopefully water retention from salt) and I am getting back on that horse once again!!

In exactly 2 weeks from this moment I will be eating dinner at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian! Woohoo!

Oh, and Cathy, I hope you are right about losing weight at Disney...I've been reviewing our dining plans and am worried I'm going to pack on 50 lbs!!!!!!
 
It is offical I have loss 30lbs :banana::cool1::thumbsup2 I only have 25 more to go to reach my final goal of 140lbs.


Only 11 more days till I leave for Disney. I can't stand the wait. I feel like the little kid in the commercial who says " I'm too excited to sleep" :yay: I just want to jump in the car and get there ASAP!!!

I don't like the thought of not being in touch with you ladies, because I feel like we've kinda started a friendship with each other. And you've all been so supportive and motivating (to me, at least!) that I hate the thought of not having you all in my support team! I will definitely have to pump up my weight loss journal (which I haven't been keeping up unfortunately :sad2:) and join the Fall BLC, but it won't be the same without you guys. What are we gonna do?!?!?

I can't believe that in 4 days I'll be in the "House of the Mouse" :cool1: Like I've wrote before, I may not have met my Disney goal, but I know that I've for sure made some excellent life style changes in terms of eating! I can't wait to see what my weigh in is tomorrow, as I feel like it's been a GREAT week!! I will for sure be back after my vacation!

I even have a legit excuse for keeping the title the same...and it's part of my BIG FAT DISNEY GOAL- to be at my goal weight (145lbs) by September next year for my (tentative) First Solo Trip where I will be staying at the Poly :cloud9: That's right, I haven't even been on my trip this year and I'm already planning the next one. Don't tell me I'm the only one who does this!

In all seriousness though, you ladies have all helped me out so much the last couple months, and I want to be there for all of you too., to keep this up.

Thanks to NewlyDisneyCrazed for the point in this direction. I go September 24 and would love to lose 30lbs by then (but even 15 will make me happy!). I tend to be extremely un-motivated and sit on the computer and read TRs all day :rotfl2:. So I need some motivation, if you folks will have me :)

I will be doing online check in on Saturday. I have finished all my paperwork at work for the time I will be away.:surfweb: Only 4 lbs away from my goal WDW weight.:banana: Guess I will be going for another 3 mile walk tonight. Yesterday got 2 in for a total of 6 miles. I am so tired today I could just fall over.

I am soooo happy we have decided to continue to support each other I need to lose 24 more lbs and I really need you guys to keep me on track. :grouphug:
 
I totally lost track of this thread. But I have been making progress!! I am able to walk more without getting exhausted and I feel better and have more energy. I have both good and bad days with my breathing and heart issues, but I think I reached a turning point where the good are more then the bad. That is REAL progress in my book.

Congrats to everyone and keep it up!! We will be at WDW very soon.

I just broke 9lbs and will be traveling so I know that will be a bot of a challenge.

Well, I guess I may be a late comer but I'll jump in anyway. I'm going in late September so I've still got some time.
I'm Wendy, I'm 5'1" and am 147 lbs as of this morning. I'd like to lose 30lbs, but for Disney I'd be very happy with 15.
The bad: I'm not motivated while I'm by myself (which is all day) and I love my Pepsi and chips. Also our weather this summer is rainy and cold every day so it's very hard to get motivated.
The good: I gave up Pepsi two days ago, there's none left in the house and I will not buy more. I also gave up chips two days ago, however there are some in the house. I'm hoping DH eats them!
My favourite types of exercise are walking the dogs, working in the stable, and my wii fit. I'm using the MyFitnessPal.com app to try to keep myeslf on track (teekathepony is my username and you can feel free to add me as a friend! I love the motivation.)

I've been up and down for about two years now so I'd like to kick the little bit of extra weight I have for good. Hoping some more encouragement will help :)
