August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

I know it's still early, but I'm already a little frustrated this week. Usually at this point I've lost about a quarter of a pound, and so far nothing  I've been eating the right things and exercising at LEAST 30 minutes a day since Friday, but nothing is happening! I'm way too impatient for ths slow nonsense.

I am not giving up though. I actually have an exercise "date" this afternoon, and I'm going to sit down and take a look at my food- that's been the biggest change since I've been back from Virginia. I can tell I'm hungry a lot more often than I was before I went. But I am keeping my water and fruit/veggie intake high, and keeping my workouts up too. Maybe if I'd stay OFF the scale, I'll see something more encouraging next time I get ON it!

If you've been exercising that much and eating right - it will happen! Stick with it!

I DID IT! For the first time in over 3 weeks, I just walked for a half hour at an ok pace (still not up to my old pace, but not bad!) Yay! I'm so motivated right now. I'm also going to try a relatively carb-free week this week. I'm not supposed to eat wheat anyway and no one is supposed to eat sugar, so here's my plan:
- still eat oatmeal in the morning with egg whites on the side (LOVE this breakfast)
- continue to eat fruits and veggies
- but make all other meals from lean protein and low fat dairy (no carbs at all)

I know being nearly totally carb-free is not a good long term plan but I need a kick start right now to get be back on track.

What do you think??

Im "weighing" in! We leave for Disney on Sept 9 but have been working hard to get myself motivated to losing some weight before we go.

My husband runs a mile every morning. I joined him a little over 2 weeks ago. I do more interval runs like run 30 seconds, walk 30 seconds, run 30 seconds, etc. And then 2-3 times a week I hit the gym for about an hour doing cardio 30 minutes and weight training for 30. The hardest part is finding a diet that doesnt cost a fortune. Its expensive to eat healthy.

I love chocolate, bread, and all things unhealthy for me but Ive reduced myself to shredded wheat and skim milk for breakfast, salad for lunch, and then a dinner of a wheat bread, protein, and veggies. :flower3:

Would really love some advice on food and exercises that would help me lose weight faster before we go in Sept and keep me motivated. :grouphug:

Background: I used to LOVE Tae Bo. Have tried Summersizing, Sugar Busters, and Weight Watchers in the past.

Hey all, forgot to post last week after my weigh in...I'm down another 3 pounds!!! That makes the total 10pounds!! I don't see myself healthily getting to my 25 ound goal in 11 days, so I'm just happy that I'm losing and getting more exercise in!!!

:wizard: Got out early and walked this morning. I can't believe I'm going to be in WDW in one week!!! I'm watching what I'm eating but realize at this point my main goal should be to gain stamina for the trip. I just want to be able to walk the MK until 2:00 AM and not have my legs buzzing!! I decided to cut out all snacks this week and limit my portions at meals. When I get back from WDW I'm going to pull out my old Weight Watcher's diet that I was on 18 years ago! The point system hasn't worked for me so in an effort to be successful and save money, I'm going to try to implement the old diet myself.
In the meantime, I'm going to try to walk mornings and evenings!
Congrats to all who have lost this week and are working so hard!

Welcome Beth! Great job on the exercise. Sounds like you are doing good. If you want food advice, the one thing I would say is if you eat a bit more protein during the day (with breakfast and lunch) you'll probably lose weight faster and won't be as tempted to cheat. That's just what I found from personal experience and many actual diets advocate that. I have egg whites with my breakfast (so few calories, zero fat but so filling) and I always have cottage cheese or lunch meat or something when I have salad at lunch. Keep up the great work so far! Disney time will be here before you know it!

Don't worry about the original 25 lbs goal! You did great to lose 10 pounds. Every little bit helps! Think of how many years you spent gaining or staying still. Losing anything is a huge accomplishment! I'm only halfway to my goal too but I'm still proud that I've reversed the trend and improved some bad habits! And hey, this doesn't have to stop with Disney! We can still keep going after.

Yay for walking and yay for 1 week till Disney! The next 3 weeks are going to be L O N G for me to wait! Great idea about implementing the WW diet on your own. You can do it! And you have us to report to! We're free! ;)

I think...you should send me your meal plan so's I can copy it! I really need to make time this week and figure something out, because obviously what I'm doing ain't working for me!

WHOO!!!:woohoo::yay::banana:

I need all the DIS good vibes I can get :goodvibes Got a call from my boss's boss's boss who wants me to meet with her boss on Thursday. She told me to treat the meeting like an interview for a higher management position. I am a nervous wreck:scared1:

I have never been so happy that I have lost weight. I know it is silly but all the female execs in the company are a size 10 or smaller

As for my weight I only have to lose 6.5 more pounds to reach my WDW goal of being 159 lbs for my vacation.:banana:

You have to be patient! I started this thread months ago and am only down 12 lbs (as of today..woohoo!) My point is, slow and steady is fine! You are going in the right direction. Also it's good if you know what you're doing isn't working. A lot time people exercise like crazy and reduce calories but still eat the wrong KINDS of foods. Sugar is the real enemy. Have you tried cutting out ALL sugar including white grains (which are basically sugar)? Packaged food like cereal and crackers are bad. Also, condiments like ketchup have a lot of sugar that adds up fast. I bet if you tried a completely sugar-free week you would notice results. You could use it as a jumpstart like I am. I'm also cutting out all carbs this week.
I don't have a real "meal plan" to offer you. All I can tell you is that I let myself eat whenever I'm truly hungry (make sure it's not thirst, boredom or frustration first) and I'm only eating lean protein, vegetables and some fruits and low fat dairy this week (I'll reintroduce carbs slowly next week). So my fridge has lots of fresh fruit and veggies, lots of chicken, lunch meat, whole eggs and egg whites (in a carton), plain low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, etc. Oh, I almost forgot about my oatmeal or oat bran. I have that as my once a day carb. Hope that helps!

Congratulations and good luck Cathy!! I remember a post from a couple of months ago when you were frustrated because you did the work of your boss without the credit. Now you might finally get the credit/money you deserve! Yay!! I really hope so!

It is kind of a shame that the business world seems to frown upon bigger people. It's totally not fair but I understand what you mean about being glad you lost weight. Good luck!

I got on the scale today and am down another pound so technically I only have 7.4 lbs to go to reach my goal of being in the 160's before my trip. However, seeing as it took me well over 12 weeks to lose 12 lbs, I'm not expecting to lose over 7 in less than 3 weeks! :rotfl: You've been going at a steadier, quicker pace (so impressive) so I bet you could get those 6.5 lbs gone by your trip!! Good luck with that too! :)

It really does :) Thanks! I do get really impatient and frustrated easily. I think I'm gonna try what you're doing next week (I have to get paid again before I go grocery shopping...otherwise I'm at the mercy of what's brought home!) Looks like protein shake mix and steel cut oats are in my future!

Tara,

Thanks for the luck, the meeting went great! The company wants to move me up but I need to train a replacement first.

Glad to hear your back is back on track.

On the weight loss front I am not moving the scale the way I should. I have not worked out in 3 days and today the cute shoes I wore with my good suit have given me blisters. I plan on relaxing tonight and getting back to the real work of weight loss tomorrow. Still 166.5 lbs Just got my new size 12 shorts from Old Navy in the mail, for WDW. Hope the size 10 fit me by then too, but unless I pick up my game they are destin for my drawer till next summer.

I want to thank all of you for your support over the past few months. It means so much to me :grouphug:

:wizard: I didn't do a "formal" walk yesterday or today, but I did walk the mall yesterday in search of shorts (why are there never any shorts left in the stores by August?) and walked my granddaughter in the stroller today. I've been really good about eliminating snacks this week and trying to control portions at mealtime. I seemed to have lost one solid pound in a week so at least it's something. I'm more happy that my shorts don't feel as tight as they did....5 days until WDW! I'm so excited!!

Yay! So glad it went well!

These past ten days (except Sat and Sun) I have been walking older daughter to camp (obviously, then walk home), drive my younger daughter to her camp, then do a 10 minute yoga workout. While the pounds have not changed, I feel better! More energy, and the pants I could barely button are only tight now:rotfl:.

Tara... thank you so much for starting this thread! I am sure so many of us are better off fo it!!!!:thanks:

And doesn't it suck that a box of Kraft Dinner is waaay cheaper than turkey, spinach and cottage cheese??? And a bag of chips is waaaay cheaper than a bag of grapes! Our grocery bill goes up when we are eating healthier, that's for sure. (But it's balanced out by the fact that our fast food and dinners out decrease!)

Congratulations on the promotion!

It may stay hot up here in the north (Michigan/Ontario) well into September so you could be wearing those size 10 shorts this year!!

Thank YOU too for your support and motivation!

5 days! You must be going crazy! Good job on the walking and the pound lost! I get excited for every little pound I say goodbye to! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

The pounds will come! So glad about the walking and the increased energy! Keep up the great work!

After my replies I stared at my ticker for awhile noticing how close it is to the end compared to when I started it. Then it hit me...that's not POP Century (like I thought when I chose it), that's probably All Star Music! :rotfl: Duh! :confused3 Just goes to show how much I DIDN'T know when I started on these boards! Did anyone else notice? I feel sort of foolish! But I'm not changing it now!!

I'm glad we could support YOU over the last few months! Congrats on your new job, I cant wait to hear all about it!!

To be honest....I didn't even realize it until you just said something, lmao! :lmao:

:wizard: I didn't notice that either!
Got up early and walked today. Then went to a sidewalk sale with a friend and we walked the length of the downtown shopping district and back! So I got 2 good walks in today. I have 4 days to go and have been obsessively making lists and gathering my clothes and whatever to pack....starting to go a little crazy!!:scared1:

Great job on the 2 walks in one day:thumbsup2

WOW 4 days, now 3 I guess.... You must be sooo excitied. It seems the closer WDW gets the more disorganized I become. I really need to start making a list of things to do before we leave. Clean house, change oil in car, get dog to vet etc....

We are driving down from Michigan. Is anyone else driving?

I have not loss anymore weight this week, work has been nuts. I am trying to get ahead on everything so when I leave on vacation everything will run smoothly. I am not eatting enough and it has stalled my weight loss. I am not even getting 1000 calories. So I really need to pay more attention to my diet. I may end up in WDW at 166 if I can't get things in order.

:wizard: I have a question for all of you....do you use artificial sweeteners?
I love sugar in my coffee, etc and really prefer not to use artificial sweeteners but know I have to cut back on the sugar intake. Has anyone tried the new ones that are supposed to be "natural"? I have a feeling reducing my sugar will help me lose faster...

Riverhill...we used to drive from NJ when our kids were small to cut costs. Then for awhile we took the auto-train. Now my DD and I fly. Driving is tough!

3 Days to Go!!!!

My weight today was 176.4!! That's the lowest in a long while. I did spend a good chunk of 2010 around 176 (then started gaining throughout the fall and winter). It might be a point of resistance for me since my body seemed to be comfortable at that weight. I'll have to work hard to break through it. I'm hoping to lose a couple more pounds before the 23rd which it looks like I can do since I lost a couple this week alone. (The low carb thing worked ok!) Then that won't be too far off my original goal of being in the 160's for my trip.

Taking a break today though...family reunion. Not going to go crazy like I used to but after a really good week, I'm not going to feel guilty having the meal and maybe a bit of treats!

Happy Sunday everyone!!
