August/September Disneyers...let's get in shape for our trip!!

That's great!!! Any weight loss is a great step towards your goal :goodvibes

What's your daily nutrition like? What exercises do you do? I'm always curious!
Exercise hasn't been great for the last couple weeks - compressed discs in my back that I'm working on healing! Nutrition is hit and miss. I have good days and bad days. I know what to do, it's just a matter of doing it. (Lots of veggies and whole grains, low sugar, protein with every meal, etc.)

Don't focus too much on scale weight loss! Without knowing much of your background don't forget that you build muscle while you work out, and that weighs pounds too. So if the scale doesn't move, don't get discouraged!
Good advice! I hope I haven't lost weight because of lack of muscle while I'm down and out with my back!

This is so true! I used to work at Curves and what would happen a lot of the time is the first month they would lose the weight, and then the next month the inches would follow. I liked that a lot.

So I leave in the morning for a family reunion! It won't be too easy to resist all the temptation- cakes, fried foods, bbq, steaks...stuff so counterproductive to my weight loss efforts. BUT! I have made a pact with myself, and I want to make it with all you guys too.

I promise while at my reunion to:
1. Drink a big glass of water before every meal,
2. Eat all my veggies first, and if I'm still hungry
3. To only eat a small piece of cake, no matter how much prodding I'm subjected to!

I don't know what my Internet access will look like, so it might be a few days before I'm back, but I will be back! Hope you guys have a super-duper On Program, losing weekend!!

I really hope you back is healed by the time of your vacation.

I got our Luggage tags in the mail today. It make vacation seem so near. Only 30 days left or 4 more Saturdays at home, or 1 more monthly report at work. I have our weekly schedule all printed and ready to laminate.:banana::banana::banana:

Thanks Cathy! I'm working really hard and being very careful. Progress is good so I'm really expecting to be ok. I've GOT to be!!:)

I'm so excited about how close our trip is too! I've made rough drafts of our daily schedules. Not sure if I'll get to the laminating stage. My kids are younger so wouldn't really follow along on their own itineraries anyway. As long as I know the plan, the rest of my fam will just go with the flow!

Whooo!!! I love making those schedules :) I never seem to follow them though...oh well!!

Is there any kind of exercise you can do at all? Like maybe some stretching or some super light Pilates or Yoga? It might help you feel better, and it burns some calories. It also helps with injury prevention. I've never had a back problem, so I might sound way too hopeful, lol. But I'm so glad you're feeling better!!

I'm seeing a really good chiropractor who actually is doing physiotherapy more than anything else. (He doesn't do chiropractic adjustments while discs are bulging!) As I've been progressing he's given me stretches and strength-training exercises that I can do. (Yes, very yoga-like!) I've been really diligent doing them. Also, I'm heading to my sister's for a few days tomorrow and she has a pool so I can swim!! I can also walk but I'm not walking too fast these days. Any kind of running, jumping or aerobics is completely out of the question. Also absolutely no lifting of any kind allowed. My goal is to get sufficiently better to be able to sit comfortably (plane ride!!) and walk for longer periods of time, and faster, so I'll be ready for Disney! I'm very optimistic. I've still got over a month! Thanks for the suggestions, Kaiti! It really is nice to know that you guys care!

These are great goals to have! Definitely don't subject yourself to a party like that and not enjoy at least one thing. If you completely cut off everything you love you will crash eventually and go back to old habits. So yes! Have a small piece of cake and socialize :goodvibes

I was going to recommend some yoga but it looks like you're on the right track :yay:

I had bad back problems before I really committed and lost a lot of weight. I am a golf professional and play/coach ice hockey. Both sports can wreck your back cause your bent over all the time. I was struggling with back pain but now, after P90X for a couple of months, it's completely gone! So strengthening your back with yoga and training will help.

Excellent job! Keep it up

Hey all!! Stayed even this week at weigh in, and with the advice from you all...I'm ok with that!! Took measurements today, as it's been one month since I started working toward getting healthier AND......I'm down 1 inch in all my measurements!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 (arms, waist, hips, thighs) WOOHOO!! Thanks to all about the encouragement and advice about not stressing over weight loss, I'm trying to focus more on the fact that I'm making a lifestyle change..even though I have a long way to go until my ultimate weight goal!!

Yay spartankid!! Losing inches is a great thing! Congrats! Keep going, the scale will eventually show results too!:cheer2:

Hi everyone...been gone for too long:sad1:, but I am back and getting back on track!!!!:thumbsup2

My weight has actually stayed the same, and I have been walking almost every day, but I need to come back and check in regularly. My trip is getting closer.

I have been reading posts from time to time and I am so impressed with all the wonderful success out there!:cool1: You are what has inspired me to step it up! Thank you!

I wish I would have found you guys sooner. I will be going in September also and need to get in shape for health health issues (chf). I have started walking everyday and "trying" to eat healthier.

I am impressed at the progress you guys are making to your goals. My goal is to not be exhausted after walking and to build my stamina. I started in the beginning of July. When I first started, I was only able to walk maybe 1/4 the distance around my local mall before getting too exhausted to go any further. Now I am able to do at least a full lap and plan on starting to add another 1/2 lap this week.

Hopefully, losing weight will be an added benefit. So far I am holding steady, at least I haven't gained anymore..... but I would like to weigh less.

Good luck to everyone!

Welcome aboard:thumbsup2 With all the walking you'll do in WDW building your stamina is a great idea. My DD and I walk almost everynight with that in mind too.

Yesterday I went to Ann Arbor, MI. The entire city around the U of M campus is closed down for a giant Street Art Fair. I walked the entire city in 89 degree heat. I figured it was a good replica of WDW. I had a wonderful day and excerised too:cheer2::cheer2:

Anytime you start is the right time! Let us know if you have questions :yay:

:wave2:Just saying hi today!

I did more exercise than usual yesterday:yay:
Going to try to match it today!

Excited to see my friend tomorrow. We are meeting for dinner and she has not seen me since I lost 27lbs. Only problem is we are going to Olive Garden for dinner and I can't find anything on the menu that isn't loaded with fat and calories, even the salad is horrible. :scared1: I think portion control will be the key to surviving the dinner guilt free.

Started this journey at a size 16/18. Now my size 12 is loose and size 10 is a bit tight. Hope to be a loose size 10 by WDW.:cool1::cool1: ( I have tried size 12 in more than one brand i.e. old navy, new york and co, worthington and style & co, so I feel this is a true size 12 instead of a one time lucky fitting size 12)

I am 12 weeks in to my 20 week program I really hope I reach a muscular 140 by the time this is all done, but if I don't I know I can do it on my own now.:thumbsup2

Going for a walk now I want to reach 165 this week. :yay:

is a good idea !best wishes for everyboday !do you know china ?beautiful state!

Man Oh Man, that celebration did me in, diet-wise. When I made my goals, I forgot that my family thinks potato salad is a vegetable...dangit. They mean well. I can't fault them there, but it just wreaks havoc on a weight-loss plan. We got home earlier tonight and I am seriously afraid to step on a scale :scared1: I know I'm gonna have to in the morning to see what ground I lost. I did do better than I thought I might have. I tried to have as many vegetables as I could, but I did awful on my water. I just really didn't make any kind of effort like I should have. I'm really kinda disappointed in myself for that, but all I can do at this point is get back on it hard and heavy tomorrow morning, and I will be doing just that! I got the cutest lunch box that I have no excuse to not fill with all kinds of fruits and veggies and water for work tomorrow, and I already talked to my walking partner and we're going back on plan after work. Then I'll be home to help clear the backyard of all the leaves. I'm not playing games anymore!

It feels good to be back!!!

Welcome back Nyc!!! And welcome janabananas!!!

Cathy! Congrats on the huge size drops. The 10 lbs I lost so far hasn't meant shopping for different sized clothes but the clothes I do have aren't so snug! Can't wait to head out for a smaller size!

Kaiti - it's tough when everyone your surrounded by is eating poorly! Keep trying!

I'm still at my sister's and tonight I swam 70 lengths (small pool) and was proud! No scale here so I'll update Thursday or Friday. Hope I'm down a bit. Back is getting better day by day. Walked around a mall (slowly with kids) for 2 hours Monday and walked to nearby park today. So things are looking up! Less than a month before I'll be on my feet for 14 hours a day though! Good thing we're not leaving sooner (never thought I'd say that), I have time to get my stamina back up!

Keep up the great work everyone!!
