August - September 2013 Room-only Discounts

How much of a dicount were the tickets with the summer promo? I have a room only and figured I would just get a 4 day park hopper with water parks at AAA but now I am wondering if Disneys discount was better.

The late August discount is the worst deal yet. It is truly Room only and does not apply to tickets like the early summer deal. I saved a whole $140 on my vacation. POP 6 nights, 7day tickets with PH and WP + QS dining for 2 adults and 2 kids regular $2854 I paid $2714 (Aug 24-30). better then nothing but the same vacation a week later with free dining would have been $2231.

Oh well, I will keep an eye out for a better deal, but I'm still excited about the trip. We are in FL for 2 weeks and have already booked a 2 day package at Busch and a 4 day carnival cruise to the Bahamas. Should be a fun vacation.

Does any one know if the early summer discount was Room Only when it first came and the ticket deal was added later?? A 20% ticket savings will take another $300 off my total, bringing it closer to the FD total.

Taking a 4 day Carnival cruise too.. pre-Disney :cool1:

Hey guys, long-time planner, but first time looking for information about re-booking a package under a discount. My friends are going on their first Disney trip and I'm their unofficial travel agent. They're currently booked at All Star Music for August 16-21, with MYW Base Tickets and the regular Dining Plan. They've got a couple ADRs as well. Obviously, they missed out on the best deals, but anything I could save them would be appreciated. It looks like they're in position for a 20% room only discount. From what it sounds like from others on here this discount will definitely not apply to the ticket prices.

So here's my questions:

1. When they call Disney to get the discount applied, what do they say? Obviously, I can't make the change for them, so I want to make sure they're prepared for the call.

2. Will this change affect their tickets/dining package? Basically, can they still get the tickets and the dining for the same price or is there some sort of up-cost to add those to the "room only" reservation (I've never booked room only, so I know nothing about it).

3. Please just confirm that their ADRs would transfer over automatically to the new reservation (heaven forbid we lose the Cindy's reservation:scared:).

4. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could get them an even better deal (without changing the dates, that option would be too easy)?

If you have their ressie number, you can call for them.
Ask for the Room only discount.
Price for tickets dining should be same.
ADRs have nothing to do with room reservation...they will stay the same.
That should be about the best price right now.

Disney's late summer promo does not include a discount on tickets, only room.

I have a split. 3 nights on summer promo ( 8/12-8/15)and 2 nights (8/15-8/17) on late summer. I could buy tickets on either reservation

Sounds great!!!! Enjoy!!!

We cruise on the 8th. I am just hoping I don't melt away lol. I have never been to Florida and the Bahamas in August.

Okay folks, :mic:
I was on DisBoards last night asking about my Caribbean Beach Resort reservation 08/24 - 08/31. I wanted to know if I could get 25% off of the package, or any kind of discount on my tickets.

Well, the answer is no. It truly is a room only discount, with no savings on the tickets or dining. The savings are so small...about $170. But, I guess that's a day or so worth of food. Certainly not as good as the $1,000 or more we would have saved with Free Dining.
UGH.

Now we just have to round up enough money so that we can eat on the other seven days of our vaca. LOL :crazy2:

The ticket discount for the summer promo was very minimal- less than $10 per ticker for 8 day park hoppers. When I made our ressie and asked about it she said the biggest savings were on smaller hopper passes- either the 4 or 5 night, can't remember, but it still wasn't very substantial.

I hate playing these games. I wish they would just come out with a fair reasonable price, so we can just book once and be done. I don't want to have to modify everything 100 times. I'm getting frustrated by this system. Here's what's going to happen...We're going to be settled with our RO discount pick yet another hotel that fits our budget, and then we'll get a pin in the mail in a month and have to rework everything yet again for the 3rd time. Sorry just needed to vent and rant in one long runon sentence. :furious:
I'm better now. Thanks for listening.

The thing about RO Discounts unless your staying at a Deluxe Resort with a 20-30% discount the savings is minimal.

After talking to them and doing the math the savings would end up being minimal with a split ressie plus I would lose 2 days from the dining plan and lose the discount on the tickets. Guess I'll just leave it as is. Just wanted to thank everyone for their into.

Going on 3 hours now... I love disney as much as the next person, but the music is starting to get to me... LOL!

LOL I had it on at work! I definitely had some looks coming my way! :rotfl:

I hope you get through real soon. I was through 15 mins after I posted on here! Maybe the DIS gives you some luck!

I hope you get through real soon. I was through after about an hour and 10 mins!

3 1/2 hours but worth every minute... room only discount on the POR garden view that was reserved for 10 days saved almost $475. Great savings in my opinion.

Have a magical day everyone!
